[Project]: OH NEVERMIND

well ive had this truck for 2 years now and just now really getting to starting to dig into the darn thing.

my plans for now are to get the front to finaly lay out, and possibly to lay the rear out eventualy. but for now its taking a hint from layinbody31's work truck.

this is basicaly what i started out with.

the truck was kind of a hack job. the rear bags were mounted dangerously and there were leaks everywhere in the setup.
finaly this last nov. my viair 450 shot out on me. so now i have a 380 on my 5gal.

i ditched the factory seats for a set of 01 cavys and then switched for a 1st gen bench seat.

i know the pic is before i cleaned the seats.

sad part is thats as far as it has gone, its still red. i planned to recover it in a supprise material.
i also have a 99+ leather wrapped steering wheel waiting to go in.

as well as a set of 4" drop blocks to replace the 3" blocks.

and shortly after the bolt in notches that i still have to clean and paint.

i plan to replace these

with these

and i will finaly be able to use this darn thing

i also may turn this in to a switchbox

but i may ditch it for a avs or eai switchbox.

i also finaly installed the art shock towers

i forgot to get a pic of my dropspindles but i also still need to install those and remove the inner fenders.

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

looks pretty pimp. i plan on painting my handle cups, dash besel, and glove box the factory colors of the truck, id like them to be green on top and pewter on the botom portion, with some sortof pinstripe to separate them somehow.

you need an ash tray just to cover the hole im guessing?

if ya ever need anyhelp just give a hollar.

cool, i wonder where the closest homedepot is to him, cause i could find it from there with directions. winter of 06 i had to go work a week at each homedepot in the louisville area including etown (which sucked).

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

wow. some of those came out fuzzy as hell.

and yes it is still a stupid mess in the truckbed. but fortunatly its just a mess and not hacked. granted this took forever to do. but i did save myself a ton of time by pretaping all the fittings last week.

edit, i do plan on cleaning up mysetup in the bed when my new switchbox gets here.

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

just keep doing it right the first time, dont get lazy and throw shit together. Further more do research or else you will end up like me on my 3rd attempt at my air suspension. Costing me 3 times as much, granted I did cop out and go all out but regardless.

I would roll that 2 tone anyday.

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

thats my plan, i dont really wanna rush woking on it or ill end up with something broken or hacked, doing what i did today took about 4 hours just bc of what i had to undo and redo. took my time, kept my calm and thought my moves throu. i tell ya what having the right tools as well as an air comp and airtools helps tons, (was really the first time ive used airtools on my truck the rest of the time has been hand tools).

tomorrow night is my last night at work so next week when i get a chance to put on the spindles i should have plenty time. got any tips on changeing them, ive reaserched but i could use tips to help make it any easier.

lossen the castle nuts, dont take them off. hit right by the balljoint with like a 3lb sledge a couple good times, and it should pop loose. then take the castle nuts all the way off and put the new spindle on.

yeah you also might wanna throw some paint on the new spindles they rust up pretty fast lol. but yeah keep hitting the old one untill it comes off, it will eventually i swear!

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

yea looks like i will need to go pick up a 3lb hammer. i figured that my ballpeen would do it, but ill take your word for it.

i do plan on cleaning the ones i have up and painting them, so i guess this snow will give me time to do that, as well as clean up my bolt in notches.

after i put in the spindles i do plan on removing the inners.

klutchman i do plan on putting on that new one. ill do that segment in a how to format if youd like, its really not all that hard.

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

ha yea, i remember doing spindles on my truck. that was fun. took 2 hours.

*BANG* *BANG* then the spindle came loose and snapped open really hardcore hahaa! good thing i had the castle nuts on still hahaa

if you cant get it off hitting it one way, change your angle. you dont want to warp the holes from repeated hammering.

Re: [Project]: OH NEVERMIND

should be a fun experience.

im debating on what i should do for the rear setup eventualy,
althou i have finaly decided on eventualy doing a full notch and bag the rear, ive got that full bagged itch. althou i would like to do a behind and under kit with sleeve bags.

but then again bagging the rear will be a while before i can afford it.
