Project Nosejob

So about 3 weeks ago I rear-ended a Peugeot 505S at about 30mph, didn't leave a scratch on his car but a slightly cracked tail light, but my car's grille took a beating.

So now I'm putting it back together, better than before.
some of the key changes are an aftermarket powersteering cooler, pusher fans where the A/C condensor usually goes, and the battery being relocated to the rear passenger side area in the cabin.

Damage Shot:

What I hope to have it looking like in the future(it's a photochop), but I want to add the small lip I had on the bottom before this photo was taken.

Another chop using a different blazer's photo, color is shitty but you can get the basic idea

Some of the goodies I have to fix it

The old radiators (it looks ok in the photo, but it's badly warped and dented)

I'm also repairing the steel bumper myself

How she sits right now

I still need to find a grill, a hood, and a radiator, I want to get the Heavy-Duty version of the stock rad, probably will order one in the next few days.
If anyone knows of any good places to get these parts, please let me know. I have been trying to get an S10 hood and 98+ Grill for a while, no yards within a 50 mile radius have anything.

Paint plans: Everything gets painted pretty much, I have a Grant kustoms rollpan for the rear, and I want to paint the mirrors, doorhandles, rear window trim, and shave everything on the rear except the keyhole, shave the roofrack holes, antenna hole, and some of the cab seams hopefully, along with the rollpan to quarter to seam, but not quarter-to-cab seam, so I can drop the whole rear bumper off when I want to. It will also probably look more like a car lol.

Comments, Suggestions welcome.

Re: Project Nosejob

My headlights got totally smashed in the accident, thats why I have new ones.

IF you look at my photochop for my paint ideas, it's a painted grill, bowtie, and valance. the mirror's aren't painted in the chop, but I wanted them to be.

The license plate will go in the center, there's a box for it on the rollpan.

I am putting my chrome Street Scene Grille back in, it got bent to hell, but I just bent it back into shape and it looks brand new!

Just a little update, got my battery relocation pretty much all done today, still trying to figure out how exactly to run the wiring.
Also a pic of my WIP ECU mount.

Re: Project Nosejob

i just did this to my truck about a week and a half ago. i had to take apart my truck a bravada a blazer and get parts from a store to get what i needed. it sucks, i'm about 650$ in and i still need more rattle can to finish it. i did get power windows and locks, and a much needed front end conversion out of it though. hehe.. work hard, i had mine driving the day after i wrecked it.

Summit Racing, it's all great quality stuff, the cables, bolts, box and everything.
If I run a vent tube it's NHRA approved btw, so it should pass a trackday/autox inspection

Yeah I was talking to a forum member actually in august about getting some body work done, namely my roll pan, but now I'm looking to paint alot the whole thing so I'll be in contact with him again once I get it rolling.
I'm talking to a forum member right now about getting a grill shell.

Still trying to find an S10 hood, and where should I get a heavy-duty replacement radiator?

Re: Project Nosejob

Some nice progress.
One thing though, unless you wire in a cut-off switch, the rear mount battery won't be NHRA legal. You need a switch that will shut the truck off... not just kill that power wire (it would continue to run off the alt). Just a heads up. Atleast you have a vented box though. I went the cheap route... non-vented (pickup bed) box from Wal-mart... $6.95 Looks identical to the summit non-vented boxes.

I've been trying to decide on a heater only blower box. I don't have a heater... so it would actually be used just to have the fan. I have a lead on an A/C box that I may butcher up to be a bare minumum... but don't know if I can get it to look clean enough Guess I need to price it out... kinda hard to find a heater only box in Houston

Any reason for butchering the stock overflow? Just curious... I would've just kept it... or moved the computer (maybe up to the core support). Then again, that's a lot of wires to lengthen Would look clean to have the fenders clear though... that's my goal.

Yeah as mentioned it's a PITA to lengthen wires, so I'm keeping it fairly stock, but moving it back a little so the wires to it can be pinned against the firewall/fenders more easily.
I'm hacking it up b/c an aftermarket one is just as effective, it's smaller, and looks tons cleaner.
With the battery gone, I can easily mount an overflow right next to my rad.

As far as NHRA approved, I actually don't really care, but it's nice to know that I could make it legal if I wanted.

I don't think it's real racing unless there's turns that go both ways , although not to discredit the validity of drag/circle track, I just don't care for them.

I just got the # for a forum member for ordering the radiator, and may be getting a grill shell soon.

Guess the only thing left to do is hunt down a hood.

OH yeah, PICS!
Just though I would add a few in case others wanted to see the inner-workings of a 4X4 S-10 more closely, and my Susp. Setup.

Where I ran the positive to the front all through the framerails.

You can see from those pics that I could benefit greatly from a custom center link( Or R&P steering), and Tubular arms that corrected the balljoint angle. I'm actually surprised how nice of a car it is to drive with geometry that looks like that. I guess the stock tall spindles both hurt and help(bad balljoint angles, more caster)

Another day when I have more $$$

I dunno, it was imported, it looked really nice too :/.
It had original european plates under the US ones and looked way nicer than any Peugeot 505S I found online, probably it was some euro-spec model.

Yes, they are designed to be able to be run upside-down, that's the only way they fit but I like it because I can tweak shock stiffness from the wheel well or engine bay :-D
Quote:

Those are duplicolor specials, I did those myself, just cleaned the stockers, and painted em. I'm gonna sand down the rough spots
clean em up, and make em look like they did 4 years ago.

The paint held up fantastically, I did my core support and hood latch support with the same stuff, I guess I did it right the first time.

So I highly reccommend if you have the car apart paint you inner fenders to match and your core support, looks so much cleaner and nicer. A few cans of spray paint is pretty cheap.

BTW the paint code for our color pewters S10s is T408 Pewter, I've had a really hard time finding it around here but just found a can yesterday so maybe they still make it. I can't order it anywhere :/.
It matches really well.
