Re: [Project] Newhampshire

thanks, i took a few more pics today but i left the cam at work ive been itching to put in some more work on this thing but ive been waiting on grinding wheels and now just time after work.

Im thinking ill finish bagging and relocating the front, get it running and then drive it while my 4 link stuff ships from SD... that will give me enough time to build all the brackets and mess with how i wanna do all the cross members as well as drag my truck for a bit

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

it came up 3" short. i forgot to account for the actuall height of the tubing as well as the width of the frame.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

i think what i read from avtekk is that you want the bottom of the notch 1" above the top of the factory frame rail to lay 27" tire. duno if that helps you at all.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

wait wait chris u need to clarify this....

i used the drawing from one of the canadian guys to make this notch.

its 2x3 3/16th wall, the top of the notch is 12 3/16ths long, the inside of the notch is 8" long, the 2 side bars of the notch measure 10" long (thats where i messed they should be 13" or longer.) i cut the angles at 125 degrees on both the top of the notch as well as the sides, when i measure from the top of the frame rail the closest portion of the notch to the ground sits about 7-7.5" off the frame. will i have clearance for the 205-75-15s? will i have clearance if i go with 20's in the future? either way im going to remake the notches with 1/4" wall but heres the original drawing.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

im still waiting on the lug covers for the zq8's!!!!! only thing you can do is try and lay out thats your bset shot!!! you can lay out flat and have next to no notch at all but if you wanna drag roll pan you will use almost all of the notch on an 8" notch if you have 7" inside of your notch you should have plenty of room but when you lay the rear watch out for the rear brake lines they will hit the notch!

PM AVTekk n see what his answer is. i knows he's done alot of s10's. also depends if you just want it to lay out flat and have no room left in the notch, or if you want to have front up back down and the bedsides/bumper/rollpan smashed in the ground.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

haha i want as much stuff as possible smashing into the ground lets state that now.

the sole purpose of this truck is to drag, every single day all year long in the retarded climate we have up here until it either dies, or i take it off the road in a season or 2. and take it to the doors....

having said that. i redid the notch with 1/4" and mocked it up today, i need to finish removing the shock cross member (shitty slot welded into the frame) then its on with the cutting...

i had an idea earlier today, ive got the lower leaf spring perches, im not going to be using hypothetically say i lay the truck out flat, setting the ride height with the truck laying on the perches. would i then be good to drag them off afterwarlds? or do i make no sense? i figured if i can save time hammering off all these rivets off these hangers ide enjoy it even more dragging them off... so lemme know what u guys think.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

have fun. my whole opinion on dragging has changed. when i had my ranger i drug the ****ing piss out of it. it got old repairing the bottom of the rails every other day. whole truck went to shit cause of it. now i think dragging is dumb. waste of time to build the truck then destroy it. just slam it down almost on the ground and cruise. thats just my opinion now!

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

i saw your ranger and no offense, but u didnt do the most effective repairs every time or you wouldn't have had the rails in the condition you did, ive got access to the tools and materials daily for free to keep up with the maitenance and dragging. like i said the trucks built for that reason of course im going to ride stupid low whenever im not dragging, but the trucks going to see sparks daily just my thing i guess. but thanks for the good words and notch help. any ideas on the spring perches, that cool?
