[Project] Newhampshire

So my Names Ian been here for awhile but i dont think many people have actually SEEN any of the work i do lol so finally after my truck being down and not getting any work done on it, the time has finally come.

So here are the up and coming summer plans

Exterior

-Finish shaving everything.
-Motorcycle mirrors.
-Bag the front.
-Pie cut and plate control arms.
-Tub for 20's.
-new sheet metal blower box, move ECU to firewall.
-Relocate battery to who the ef knows where.
-Finish fuel cell and Pump.
-C notch and 6" drop the back. (temporary)
-2 tone.

Interior

-Painted and smoothed 2 match. (not sure just what yet lol)
-Fiberglass center console w. 2 8's.
-Billet Wheel and rear view mirror.
-Maybe an In dash TV if i get crazy, ide be happy w. something that had an AUX output for the ipod im gonna buy.

Wheels

-Staying stock unless I win the lottery.

So heres what she looked like for the last 6 months.

And some of the parts ive acquired over the last year or 2.

And finally towed her to the shop and got some pavement under me, only half if u notice in case i ever miss laying in the dirt i can go right over and do it.

Between the hornets (lil bastards) and the thunderstorm i got about 45 minutes of progress made on her yesterday.

Door panels r off and i started with the mirrors before the sky opened up and i had to run back inside the shop.

but i guess lemme know what you think feel free to suggest ne thing bla bla comment follow whatever tell me im stupid all thats good stuff. i should be updating this daily unless i run into some snags in which case it will either be something you guys can help with, or im outta money lol.

edit - i know its dirty so just ignore all the shit, im gonna do a complete douching today and clean it all out. and also i realize the tabs on the shock cross member arnt square, that crossmembers being trimmed back and new tabs r being made sometime this week. i was forced to hurry them while i was finishing the top welds it started to pour so i hammered out the last 2 beads but it got all cock eyed, meh whatever. Also ignore the camera date, thats fixed.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

Thanks for the comments guys, haha chris i was hoping you would see this one

So i had some absolute shit luck today that took a huge dump on my motivation like the rain did yesterday. I still managed to get all of the interior (besides the dash) pulled, started by snaping a torx bit inside the bolt (saw that one coming) so for now the seatbelts r still on cause i didnt feel like welding a nut on today im tired as hell from moving this stupid 180lb piece of stock from lathe to table, to lathe to table 15 times today.

Rolled the truck back to the bay and started w. the impact on the lug nuts even after i PB'd them the second lugnut snaped somthing inside the impact and it just spins. Went to jack it up 2 throw it on stands to start on the exhaust work and my jacks main seal shits out and pisses hydrolic fluid all over the place. so at this point im like ok fvck this interiors out im happy and called it a day... lol so /endrant heres the pics.

ah i almost forgot i was drilling out the welds on the jack brackets and ended up drilling threw the back wall so that was a /head palm moment.

so tommorow im gonna be working under the hood relocating and getting the ecu and abs module moved im alil confused on where exactly im going to be moving and mounting all this if anyone has pics its a 2.2L stick, im probably going to have to do some clutch resevoir relocating as well which im still up in the air up, but lets start with the ECU and the ABS stuff first i guess, that and the inners tommorow.

edit - also any suggestions on a new jack? im gonna be buying one tomorrow morning.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

I was just looking around at jacks a couple weeks ago at Sears. Craftsman has a couple nice ones out. I'm still using their $20 portable jack. Its not my favorite but it does the job.

Looks like you got a good solid project to start with! Keep it up! Check mine out sometime too.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

Sooo i got a good solid 4 hours done today just stuck out the rain heres the pics.

Passenger side torn down

Driver side torn down (lol)

And this ones for all the people who do any grinding with out eye protection, i was quick enough to get my face outta the way wearing a full face shield but i was cutting off the jack brackets along the back wall and it STILL had enough force to lodge itself that far up imagine if it had hit my face with no protection or god forbid an eye.

no real problems today, found out my passenger side sway bar end link had sheared off and wasn't even actually in the control arm, that and for some reason even with the lower controll arm and spindle seperated from the upper and plenty of room under the controll arm the spring refuses to come loose from the pocket... any suggestions on how to remove that safely? im thinking ill just impact the lower CA off, but i dont want the pressure from the spring flattening out my threads so...

any suggestions on how/why that spring is hung up and the safest way to dislodge it would be great guys!

edit - i also got those tabs cutoff and cleaned up! now to make 4 new ones and finish the fuel cell.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

That cutting wheel in the ceiling is hella scary! I was using a full face shield and then i went to just safety glasses, but i'm going back to the face shield lol.

hmm i think the control can go down farther then you have pictured, and maybe that would help bring the spring out. Honestly, i cant remember how we took mine out. But then again i cant remember what i did 2 days ago!
Does the shop where your working have a spring compressor?

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

wow! crazy the cutoff wheel lodged that far into the headliner!!!

as for the LCA... i usually sit my ass on the ground with my feet out in front of me. I jam my feet into the LCA to push it down as far as it can go, and at the same time i pull hella hard to rip the spring outta there. If all else fails, put your jack under the LCA and undo the 2 bolts in the back and then lower the jack and let the whole control arm down.

Re: [Project] Newhampshire

That sucks man... looks like the shock is still in the coil... i assume u removed it? if so then i would get something long and just push down on the arm, if the coil where to fly it wouldn't go far, or you could always go to autozone and rent the compressor.

Edit: Looks like it can def. go lower... heres a few pics of mine... The rust has all been ground down and por15'd the whole frame.

This is when my top shock was still mounted... had to cut the thing off.

Took the weekend off

couldn't help myself first thing this morning i had to go out and yank on the spring and it poped out first yank and proceeded to slam my ring finger against the spindle lol.

after work i poped out the sway bar and the rest of the stearing components but as i was removing the brake caliper the bottom stud stripped out completely so im gonna end up welding a nut to the end of that and cranking it out that way, unless anyone has any better suggestions?

gonna be heading to the weld shop tomorrow after work for mad cutoff disks so the front should be done end of this week all things go well that should be plenty of motivation to actually GETTING IT RUNNING lol im sure alittle pst pst is better then anything i could ask for i cant wait to drag the fvckn hell outta this thing.

lol @ 3" drops becoming 5" i love it. haha i worked for a bit today got the blower motor out (whoever designed the stud that goes between the back 2 fuel lines is a fvckn artard) and spring pocket cut for the re7's so all i gotta do is run the line and pop it in and the passanger side is all done, the lower CA is almost completely flat but i of course took pics with the shop camera and didnt put them online...
