Re: Project: Mulligan

well I unexpectedly had to work this morning which sucked, but I was able to get out in time to still hit a junkyard. I was able to score some Astro wiper arms and a set of 3 wire sockets for Raider600's brazil tail project.

I also found that advanced auto has a metra brand hidden antennas for $20, but that seems awfully cheap and I'm afraid its going to be crappy. Any ideas?

Re: Project: Mulligan

hmm i'll try that. I'll have to borrow the antenna off of my 4x4 because I dont have an antenna period for the 99. I used to have a billet shorty on the 99 but the body shop broke it off and offered to shave it rather than buy me a new one.

all you have to do is just lay it down in there and the ball tip might stick out onto the headlamp

I have an antenna I'd send you for the cost of shipping, if you really need one. Couldn't cost all that much to ship. lol It's the factory one off of my Blazer.

Re: Project: Mulligan

AutoLoc makes a hidden antenna

Stylin Trucks

It's $40 from Stylin Trucks, only has one review but it's a good one.

Re: Project: Mulligan

Metra window mount antenna... advanced auto, autozone, pep boys... $20.. have them in everything i own.. work wonders.. look identical to the autoloc one...

so to answer your question.. they are not cheap.. figuratively speaking.. everybody i know runs them and have never had any problems...

is that the powered (amplified) one? I was looking at it but the low price scared me.

Re: Project: Mulligan

The AutoLoc one sells on eBay for ~$35 shipped. I'm thinking about getting one so I can get rid of the stock antenna on my truck.

Re: Project: Mulligan

well tonight I drove it with the headlights on for the first time. Left rear turn signal works fine, right rear turn signal blinks fast and the reverse lights (both) and the liscense plate light flash with it.

Both taillights work fine when the headlights are on. I'll swap the bulbs and see if maybe it's just a burnt out filament? I have to go to Virginia tomorrow so maybe this weekend.

Any other ideas? It did not do this before the body shop had it and I've had the bed off before.

Re: Project: Mulligan

Did they take the bed off? Maybe you've got a pinched wire somewhere?

Re: Project: Mulligan

yah the bed was off. its almost like the tag light is powered off the turn signal rather than the running light, but I'll have to dig into it some more. Like I said I've had the bed off and on at least 3 times with this same roll pan/tag setup before the painters touched it and never had this problem.

Re: Project: Mulligan

If they had the bed off then I wouldn't be surprised if they accidently pinched a couple wires and the tag light is getting power from the signal. I'd just check the connections and then trace it back until you find it. That's really all you can do with something like this is start at one end and work your way back until you find the problem. Aren't you an EE or something like that? I'm sure you know all this stuff by now.

We subcontract the electrical. I just tell them what time to show up and where to land the wire.

I'll crawl under it this weekend and take a peek.

thanks pumpkin. no homo.

i've almost always have had a bulb in the tails go bad anytime I have ever moved the tails to take them off or anything, prolly a bad bulb, or the wires are pinched.

Arrow Re: Project: Mulligan

Be sure to check your ground lug that connects up to the frame. I believe the fuel pump ground wiring is in there as well as the tail lights. Should be a round lug with a 90* bend in the end of it that sticks in the frame.

Re: Project: Mulligan

Oh yeah I figured the bulbs out. There was a 3057 in the passenger side and a 3157 in the driver side. 2 new bulbs of the same type and it's good to go!

Here are some pics of my latest mods... chrome speaker grills, AC vents and defroster vent. Now I just need envoy handles and some nice window cranks.

and the forecast is looking pretty gloomy for the upcoming week so I took her out for one more cruise and then cleaned her up for the winter.
