Re: Project: Minty Fresh
LOL I havent had a chance to read anything since my last post on here, but, a leaking brake line isnt exactly a minor issue.

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
So wait the issue is that it leaks? Take the line off and to the store and see if you can get something longer

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
yeah, its leaking out of the fitting, length is not an issue. i just had to re route it down instead of up so it wouldnt rub on the frame.

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
Don't swap the calipers over. You'll lose the ebrake too.
Not sure why it would keep leaking. are you sure its seated down 100% like it needs to be before you start tightening it? im pretty sure there's a little grove that the end of the brake line has to sit in, then you tighten it down. |

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
I honestly think it got messed up when you flipped the lines to bend downwards. If I remember correctly the fitting is offset to one side and flipping it would be trying to seat the opposite side against the caliper, and that offset prevents it from seating. Put it back to having the lines looped like they were stock (pointing up) and see if it fixes the leak. Then you'll know you'll have to loop them like I said, instead of putting them on bent downwards like you have

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
Quicky MS Paint drawing for ya.
![]() The red represents the mating surface of the fitting to the caliper in it's stock form (shown). Notice how the hose/fitting is offset to the one side? When you flip the hose to be bent down you're changing that red mating side to now mate to the bolt head and not the caliper, and that offset is likely what's causing it to leak. What you need to do is coil it like how the green arrow shows, so that the red mating surface will still be in contact with the caliper, but the hose will not be in jeopardy of hitting the frame due to being coiled |

If that is the case, could he not switch just the lines from left to right and do what he is doing? Just a thought.

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
Does it still fit into the caliper the same? I seem to remember trying that at first on mine and then deciding that looping it was the only way for it to work...

![]() Is it bad ive got like 30 miles on it and I want to go lower? it rides great! I drove it around for an hour just casually and didnt bottom out once. I might rub with new tires but well see later. Brent, my dad went to napa and had them look up the specific crush gaskets for it, which were thicker than the ones I got in an assorted box from the help! Section. He also cleaned the surface until new metal was showing. |

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
the worst part is the immense amount of skank buildup on the underside of everything.
Heres a pic of my wheels off of my s10. This turns shocks/u bolts/ brakes/ tranny mounts/ u joints anything underneath into an extremely fun and enjoyable experience. /sarcasm |

Re: Project: Minty Fresh
Put about 100 miles on it tonight. I LOVE driving this thing. It doesn't rub, doesn't bottom out, doesn't scrape. nothing. handles good, rides good. The steering feels way better now. I just can't get enough.
The alignment/tire shop told me its nice to have something come in that's done right. And a guy who works there has some zq8s on his malibu with gmc caps and wants to trade. So that will be in the near future. Another guy said that my upper control arms weren't factory. I call bs though. I've never seen aftermarket uppers that were stamped and had ball joints riveted in. ![]()

I've lived down gravel roads and if you don't drive fast it's not a big deal.
