Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
wow, im touched to be called upon lol..... i used the stock lt1 pump, with a camaro (of the same year) pressure line..... itll actuall involve less "tweaking" for you, but it screws right in on both ends.... i hope that helps

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
really? hmm...i am no expert so dont flame me, but as long as you have the right pressure line for the same pump, like you said ''stock lt1 pump and its pressure lines'', than my steering box shouldnt crap out? I just dont want to have my steering go ''kaboom'' while driving. But if this is true, than it may save me a little cash. |

yea ive never heard of anyone swapping steering pumps to match a box, all chevy pumps work with chevy box's. Only time you need a lower pressure is for mustang II setups and streed rod shit.

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
hmm....wonder why the s10v8 site said that it would blow my s10s stock steering box? But i guess as long as you guys say it will, i trust this site more lol.... So like LT1s10onair said, just match the same year pressure line? |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
that is the biggest pile of crap ive ever heard.... whats gonna blow out the steering box exactly? use the stock pump, and get a stock f-body pressure line.... it doesnt fit exactly.... ur gonna have to bend it around, but obviously it fits the pump.... and it threads right into the pressure side of ur steering box..... if u run it under the oil pan, and mount the reservoir on the driver's side, it makes the job so much easier.... u need to use high pressure hose for the reservoir..... its not a high pressure are, but if you use low pressure "heater hose", the oils will wear out the hoses quite fast

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
Got some stuff done today. Not as much as I wanted to becuase of the damn F'n rear again, but hell, its almost in, lol....Heres wat we got done, intake is on the motor and all, old intake is being cleaned up so i can sell it since i dont need it anymore. The leafs are in, and the rear is in place also. And some presents from Summit just arrived!! Well heres the pics
Engine bay, frame and wheel tubs are cleared, not too bad i dont say ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Injectors on and inplace to the new intake, ![]() Reamer and his buddy cleaning the motor up preparing for the new gaskets to be set in place ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Intake on for good! ![]() While they were doing that, i was busy on my old rear ![]() new rear set in place ![]() ![]() And heres a side project, took the old intake off and started to clean it up to sell it. The intake it self looks a little rough, but a simple scuff up, the fuel rails, the fins, and the underneath came up really nice. So this will be ready soon to be on the market ![]() ![]() And look wat arrived at my house when i got home!! ![]() ![]() B&M short throw shifter and a 6spd black shifter ball. Well thats it for today. Tomorrow i am back there to work on it again. Plans are to get the rear done and bolted up, get the core support mod'd for pushing radiator+ condenser forward, and Hotdog will start to work on the Powersteering pump and hopefully the wiring harness. |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
well dont get too jealous, its no posi, and its a PITA to put in for me. But the shifter i do like a lot. Btw, is the engine bay up to par for you? And we have to enclose the a/c box so it is going to have to be painted too. So how hard is it to take off the left hand side of the box. |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
well heres the work i got done today, just bolted the rear up in its position, havent done any brake hoses yet but i will soon....But let me ask you if i got ripped or not, I got the leafs on my truck now that i got from a dude i know. He said that these with 3 inch blocks made his truck just about tuck tire outback. So i figured they are zq8 leafs. Can you guys with zq8 leafs tell me if i ripped or not? And Will, these arent the ones you gave me, i gave them to a buddy thinking these were more than a 1.5 drop leafs, but i think i was wrong....anyways heres the pics of the progress and the leafs i hope i didnt get ripped for.

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
No, seriously though, it looks pretty good from here. The A/C box is easy - just a few nuts & bolts to take off. My biggest problem with getting them all off was that one of the nuts was screwed onto a "stud" that was sticking through from the inside of the cab. Well, the weld broke loose and it would just spin & spin. Luckily I was able to get to it from inside the cab and I just tacked it back on. And was able to get it off. If not I would have just cut it off. No big deal!! You should take it off and clean it up as well as paint under it. |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
well today i came to conclusion that i am going to paint the a/c box flat black, the clutch master cylinder flat black, and maybe one other thing. Other than taht, you see how it is now, and thats how it will stay.
As for updates, i got the rest of the rear sprayed, had forgot to spray the center part that sits in the hole of the hub. So i took the rear calipers and hte rear caliper brackets off and sanded and sprayed them black like the rest of the rear. Besides that, i blasted the caliper brackets since i idid a shitty job a few months back on them and now they look really good. And lastly, for me, i got done bringing back the old intake to a nice looking intake. The fuel rails look great IMHO....i should have kept these. I have the pics below of them, but keep in mind i havent polished thm up at all, just wet sanded them. As for hotdog, he was busy remounting the PS pump, and setting up the wiring for the spark plugs. Other than taht, tommorw i have the Headers to be done, so i will have pics of them, and hoping to have the motor in tomrrow night. SO pray for me, other than that, heres the pics.... ![]() ![]() ![]() New avatar right here! ![]() remember this is forsale, check out my classified ad ![]() ![]() look at the glare! ![]() And like i said, banking on gettting the headers done tomorrow so ican take them to Hotdogs. But i hope i get the gaskets i ordered for them today from summit by tomorrow so i can tighen them down for good. But anyways....hows that rear pic with the tire on?? I love it! |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
Well let me get ur opinions again...since i am doing some pieces previously stated flat black, how would the CAI look if it was either: A) ceramic coated the same color as my headers or B) paint them flat black to match the clutch master cylinder/ A/c box? |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
Oh and i forgot to add that i am going to spray my white shocks red to offset all the black. So i will have the red intake upfront, red calipers front and rear and red shocks out back. Than i will tie that into my interior at some point. I think itll look really good.

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
Well got the motor in for the last time!!!!!! Looks killer with the intake on ther. And will look even better with the headers on, which will be on tomorrow night. Besides the motor dropped in, the tranny was put into place, and the shifter bolted in. Sat in the seat, shifted it and had no issues with anything....so without further holding off you guys from see'n the pics...here they are!
heres hotdog doing sum cutting, ![]() ![]() and here is the motor sat in. Still need to get the headers on to finish the plug wires, but you get the picture ![]() ![]() ![]() heres the pics of the shifter bolted in ![]() and just for the hell of it, hotdog took a pic of me acting like a idiot, lol ![]() more pics tomorrow night. Hope to have the wiring harness plugged in and the headers bolted on. |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
looks good man! ur shifter is that far back from the stock one? mine was close enough that i just made the hole bigger, and filled the forward excess..... and as of the intake, black is probably the safest bet, but either way would be fine

And i think i am going to go with the flat black intake elbow, i think than i will have enough of each color to make it so its not like, wtf is that color in there for. And LT1s10onair, any way you can get a pic of your lower radiator hose? I know you said you just grabbed one that fit, but if we can get a idea of how it should bend anda ll, that would be great. |

Re: Project--->LT1 swap and alittle more goodies!
got the headers back today, look awesome, i love the color. But when we mocked them in, we were hitting the firewall bad, and had no idea why since last time we mocked them, they were fine. Well found out tht the mtor mount brackets werent in the right spot, so thats all fixed. So heres the pics
heres hotdog doing some Mod'in to the tranny xmember ![]() ![]() they look bad ass! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well for tomorrow through saturday, while I will be at Lowrollers, Hotdog plans to get the tranny xmember mounted in, headers on for good, spark plug wires cut to size, and hopefully has the clutch problem fix. And tomorrow iam calling a d/s place to take my d/s there. So hope next week we can start the radiator support. |
