Re: [ProjecT] LoW RangE

does those upper bars have enuff angle to keep the rear end center?

thats about the most i can get out of mine, and i didnt know if it was enuff. i wanted it wide at the axle, and depending of if that is good enuff, i can do it the way i wanted it in the fist place...

the PERSAY "perfect angle" is 40 degrees.. but with a rangers frame so damn narrow thats impossible...

i am redoing mine, i will be raising the bed floor so that i wont have to cut it at all. But what im still going to do, this will work for you also, take the crossmember and move it further towards the cab, and then weld your tabs facing the axle, so weld them to where they are pointing out and not up, but also weld them on the highest point on that crossmember, on the drive shaft hoop basically, have the two inner link tabs about 1/2" apart, and that will give you a decent amount of triangulation...

i hope that dont sound confusing

now on my lower bars, the way that i have my lower mounts welded, do you think that the 2x2 will twist? i have the plate so thats it half and half, and braced it up a good bit... so all the pressure isnt off the ber

Re: [ProjecT] LoW RangE

hell yeah man just found this thread and read it all. Good work likin the build, I too have been on rps but like it more here. The only thing i can see to watch out for with offsettin the bags is wearin the bushings. It shouldn't be a big problem since your not offset that much. Love old square rangers and a hella buy. Good luck

thanks guys, yea im going to just go ahead and cut it off and center it on the bar, but doing this it means that i have to cut of the leaf perch and build a mount to have it further out off the frame and i also have to move the tabs on the axle now

Re: [ProjecT] LoW RangE

i bet thats what it is.. BUT! id put on your lowers and peek your head down there.. you really want the minimal amount of that shaft sticking out.. looks like its about to fall out.. it will move in and out throughout the arc motion, but.. def try to keep it as close as possible without it being smashed into the tranny (just as bad)

Re: [ProjecT] LoW RangE

ok well ill go and put the lowers back on... but i have to rework the lower tabs on the axle and the frame... so if i hurry up and do that i can put them back on and leave them... but thatd be later tonight. so could i just refil the fluid after that?

Re: [ProjecT] LoW RangE

ok well i can get it... i looked up what my wheel base is stock... and there is about 3" of the shaft that is out, so thats why my wheelbase is 3" longer than stock right now...

but im going the get it back stock, tack the axle to the notch and redo my bars.. hopefully this will fix it right

well i got the wheelbase now... i just took off my lowers and when i layed it out it would pull out, and out more and eventuall enough to start to leak... but its an easy fix! but i have it all squared and all i just have to weld the axle to the notch...

but man i aint but like maybe 3 hours from ya... im 40 minutes north of alexandria! but im hoping this weekend ill have it done, if you want you could come and help! HEHE i got a pool and extra beds bro!

Re: [ProjecT] LoW RangE

problems that i see with it,
#1 the right link bar on the axle has no bushings, meaning the axle couldve rotated in the link bar enough to pull the driveshaft out 1/2 inch or more.
#2 the driveshaft/linkbar crossmember doesnt even appear to be welded to the frame, it looks like the whole weld broke off on both sides. picture below it even shows driver side is the same way.

maybe those welds broke off allowing the axle to rotate enough to pull it out that far

all you need to do is push the driveshaft back into place, fill it back up with fluid and keep working.

mine got shoved into the tranny, previous owner did a 4/4 drop with no set back plates, drips tranny fluid daily, but i sold the truck and gave the new owner the plates and seal

yes, good eyes... i began to cut out that crossmember and then i noticed this mysterious puddle! LMAO

also on the bushings, neither of the uppers had bushings at the time... i JUST NOW pressed in my superpivots... but i need the correct length then, but now that im raising the bedfloor and redoing that crossmember its no biggie..

i did get the shaft back in, and then i think i have my wheelbase set right and everything is lined up now, all i have to do is tack the axle to the notch for ride height and set my pinion angle, then weld my new crossmember and my new tabs on the axle...! alot of work that if i knew what i was doing then, would have been avoided!

but anyway one question on my wheels! what do you all think? POLISHED or CHROME? chrome is $100 bucks more...
