Thats cool, I knew you built this truck to drive, I was just kind of suprised that you are using it as a daily... not that I blame you But yeah the only reason I was asking about the lights was because I didn't remember seeing any provisions for them when they were working on your bed and I didn't remember seing them in the video. But as far as your truck being far from perfect... it's not that far! i mean I would hate to park next to your truck in a parking lot... People would look at your truck and then mine and assume that I either just pulled my truck out of a junkyard or just got back from the demolition derby.

never really cared about having my windows tinted, so I just have never gotten it done. Everyone and their mother has tint. And in Maryland you can only have 35% which isnt very dark. Any darker and you will certainly get pulled over in Maryland and get a repair order, they are strict. so without tint i reduce the chance of getting pulled over and a copy writing me a million tickets for everything else. And thanks for the compliments

The truck is far from perfect, as can be seen by the airbdamn falling off and the front end (grill, airdamn, bumper) needing to be repainted still. There was a time I wanted a trailer and all, but im so glad I didnt go through with it. That was also before i drove it(cuz it wasnt done then) and I didnt think it would handle this well, it seriously rides real smooth and has a nicer ride then stock and much softer ride then my sierra. And ya I have taillights in my roll pan, so i shouldnt get rear ended. I love the reactions im get when i pull up somewhere and drop the truck, people go crazy. This morning i pulled up to the local 7-11 where all the landscape companies hang out at in the morning and get their coffee and gatorade for the day and stuff and I had like 15 redneck landscapers breakin their neck and asking me about it and complimenting me on it. Its too fun to park it... drive it and drag it! (im seriously gonna need new bed skirts within ia few months hehe)

haha, ya you probably never noticed the taillights since they were done almost 2 years ago, it wasnt anything new so never really mentioned it.

there was no physical room to drop the front lol. if i had the wheel turned and hit a bump the tire would hit the fender/fender flare. I had like 1/2" wheel/fender gap when sitting on flat ground with the wheel turned.

the back i could have done like a 1" block, but oh well. i went straight from 100% stock suspension to what I am now

And yessum on the tailights. I'd be more then happy to. That reminds me to do mine hahahahaha. I got everything I need, just havent taken the time to do it, now I can have a reason to lol

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

I have 5% on my driver/passanger window and 5% over factory tint on the back three windows. I live in California where basically any mod is illegal and have only been ticketed once...

If I could do it over I would have done 20%, its dark but not too dark and makes black trucks look that much better, again its your truck your opinion is what obviously counts the most

Love the tail lights!! I want to do those same LEDs but in the gate

up in baltimore county the cops are tint nazis. Everyone of my friends who have illegal tint have been pulled over and given repair orders to have it removed. my friend got one such repair order 2 days ago as a matter of fact. one friend of mine got the repair orders, took it off, got it checked off and put the tint back on, got a ticket, took it off, put it back on, etc, etc. he got like 8 or 9 tickets for it in a couple months, one day he got 2 tickets in one day for it! Ya i dont feel like messing with it.

Damn thats crazy, that must suck! If I ever had that many I would give up on tint, I'm fortunate to have one of my good friends who's brother is a cop takes care of all of our fix it tickets.

I have been pulled over so much for not having a front plate I gave up and took the xtreme plate cover off

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

well i did 20% all around. i look at it this way, if the stock tinted windows are about 20%, then why should other windows be different. i roll with my windows down a lot so my tint looks like it came stock tinted, even though it was all clear. i know cops around here will get you, but i just drive normal, let em run the plate, then speed on past me. and in VA it's 50% front windows, 35% back windows. 20% is a lot darker than 50%. oh well it looks good and keeps the sun out.

edit - my2ks10xtreme what do you mean by greek? are you in a fraternity, or like your from greece?

I graduated a little over a year ago with my electrical engineering degree and I always told myself while i was busting my ass in school that I would "waste" my first years salary on all the toys I have always wanted. and that is exactly what I have done. I have done the majority of what I have dreamt about doing to the s-10 and I bought my dream truck; my sierra. Life is good. But that year has come and gone, and I am now working on starting to save money and move out. If you work hard in school, and get a good job then dreams can come true.

And just for the record, I have easily spent $15,000 this past year alone on the truck, within this project thread. I don't want to add it all up dollar for dollar, but I know how much the bed costs, I know how much I spend in baggin parts, I know how much I paid eric to shave the rest of the truck's pieces and such, and all those odds and ends and such, ya it adds up FAST. There is so much money in this truck, its sickening to think about it, but its all worth it. This is now my daily driver, I love it. I havent driven the sierra since friday when i picked up the s-10, and i dont plan on driving the sierra much at all again until winter comes around.
yea shit like this does add up fast. ive been doing peice by peice ever since i got my truck. i love everything about my truck. i cant wait to get bags for it. thats very soon tho. my truck is a daily driver too. its the only thing i got to drive. im bagging it and driving it everyday. btw adam, that is a nice ass truck. i love it. i want to see it in person sometime.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

just for people's piece of mind, let it be known that I put a 1/4thread -> 1/8 tube fitting on the dump valve for the dump bed about 10 minutes ago. so instead of the dump bed dumping out of a 1/4" hole it now dumps out of a 1/8" hole, so the bed drops down to the closed position MUCH MUCH slower then before, and doesnt violently slam like it did before. For those that saw the video GetBored posted a few pages back you saw how relatively violently it used to go down, it is probably 1/6th that speed now. But it still dumps to the up position the same speed, I didnt slow that down.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

well 1/6 was a ballpark estimate

1/4" = an area of .05 square inches
1/8" = an area of .012 square inches

so in all mathematical correctness it is about 1/4 the speed it was before. I just guesstimated 1/6, my guesstimate wasnt far off. point is you realize that its not going to be 1/2 the speed just because it is half the diameter....its the area of a circle that you need to look at not the diamater. AND technically it is 1/4 tube to 1/8 tube but the tube sizes are outer diameter. for example a 1/2 tube is really like a 3/8" inner diameter. but thats getting too far into specifics and im not 100% sure the actual inner diameters of 1/4 and 1/8" tube so i just used the plain and simple 1/4 nd 1/8" measurements for my calculations for a matter of example

i got flow controls on both my fill and dump and put them right behind the roll pan so i can adjust as needed. i figure ill have to speed up the fill and slow down the dump for winter with snow in the bed lol

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

I wont be doing this until winter comes, cuz I wanna drive it the rest of this year. once it gets cold out ill take it back to GetBored and have them modify the bumper as required to make this swap look right

And then I put it back to how it was, so just for comparison

Not gonna do this for a few months, just had some time today so i figured I would mock it up, I like it for sure!
This is what is looks like when done, although this is with the envoy lights, same shape of headlights though

And here is a video of the bed with the dump vavle slowed down with a 1/4 to 1/8" fittings. Slowed it down to about 1/4 of the speed as it was before, so it doesnt slam down anymore.

And I also think Im going to buy a Viar 380 or 480 as a backup compressor. After extended use my oasis likes to cut itself off cuz it gets too hot. It is the thermal cut off protection mode thing. But I'll have no warning and suddenly the compressor dies and wont turn on for like 20-30 minutes while it cools down. This left me stranded last night in a parking lot while I was playing with it a little bit, so an inconvienice but nothing too bad cuz i wasnt in a rush and i was allready parked. but if I air out at a light, then go to go up and the air aint there and the comp is in protect mode then im screwed. So Im trying to figure out what i want to get. I can also use this emergency compressor for indoor shows when you have to disconnect the battery. I cant run my oasis off the power supply I have (65A power supply for the indoor shows) because the oasis draws 150-200A. So a little viar that only pulls like 20 amps will be great to have to use for indoor shows. It is either I do a single 380 or a single 480. But then I saw the price difference between a 480 and a 480 dual pack, and it makes me think I should just get the dual 480 pack. I could then have dual 480s for emergency use and for indoor show use. I dunno...I'll make a decision by monday and order it monday, I dont wanna get temporarily stranded somewhere. it is always good to have a secondary source of air anyways. And I dont want to go the EDC route, I like electric.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

i dont know if you would have room for an edc with the 22's, but edc ftw, i have a york 209 and two 480s on 17 gallons, and its still fast, and once you get the 480s, you will notice how much they dont even compare to an oasis/edc
