ya the U joints is where im worried about, obviously i just wouldnt paint where it goes into the cross member and the tranny. I explored the option of an Aluminum one and the place i talked to said they dont make any driveshatfs with the cardon joints, and a new metal one would be $500 so even if someone out there does make an Aluminum one its going to be like $750 or something and thats only for 1 of the 2 pieces of the driveshaft....ya im gonna paint this one haha

I talked to Keller and they cant shorten a driveshaft with Cardon joints. Or are you saying keller sells an Aluminum one? Like I said i talked to www.drivehaftshop.com and they said Aluminum cardon jointed drive shafts dont exist. let me know if you know if thats not true, or else Im gonna just shorten my stock one

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

So I came home today to a suprise, another package from SD!!! i got more blue shit!!!
-upper bag cups
-carrier bearing crossmember replacement(stupid extended cabs grrrr)

(i took this pic just to show the cup sin better light, but with the flash on it makes the color look like a different shade of blue, so the other pics above are what it looks like, this pic is with the flash one and it destroys the image of the true color

Then I spent time prepping for welding the notches in on Saturday(90% we are doing it saturday, might be sunday gotta talk to Keily) But ya I cleaned the hell out of the area to give us a nice clean welding surface. I did the outside of the frame rail 2 weeks ago so it has accumalated a little bit of surface rust, but ill get that off right before we weld the notches in, that will take a second to get off, tonight was about cleaning the inside of the C channel

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

awesome man, im glad its helping you. After viewing a couple of entire build threads like this it helped me understand everything A LOT more. I like project threads with tons of pictures, if it wasnt for a year+ of viewing other people's baggin project I would have no clue what I am doing, a year ago I knew nothing about a 5 link, now I know so increibly much more about all this stuff. I learned 99% of this stuff from right here, and there are a handful of guys on here who have been incredibly helpful to me via PMs, talking on AIM, and answering questions in threads, Im so grateful for everyone's help

My buddys blazer has these installed, his blazer was the one BLF posted in there deleted thread. He has had these for a few weeks now. And he has been driving the piss outta them. He loves them and ive known this guy a for a while and i trust his judgment when he say he likes something. The allignment shop had no problem giving them an allingment. He lives on possibly one of the worst roads in flint with huge holes that taco rims and eat rockers. and they have held there allignment And he drives his truck everyday to and from work, gym, grocery store, ect. Re: [Project] Living up to my username

With your driveshaft, could you not get a 1 piece made. My buddy had a 2 piece for his full size truck and he just went out and bought a 1 piece and got rid of the carrier bearing? Just a thought. Oh ya, what did you use to clean your frame. I want to clean and paint mine this weekend and thought I would ask you since yours turned out so clean.

if i get a one piece then im going have to notch th living piss out of the extended cab floor area...as far as I know.

And To clean the frame i used a puddy knife(well its actually an old chisel but basically its a puddy knife), then i used a wire brush and McDonalds Degreaser (I used to work there back in the day and I "borrowed" a gallon of the concentrate and the shit it the best cleaning solution I have ever come across, it will clean anything). thats what i did for the notch area on the inside of the C channel, what i used 2 weeks ago when i started cleaning other parts of the frame was the puddy knife then a flap disk wheel on my 4.5" grinder

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

Allright well I never heard anything from Keily...We had talked about doing it today and everything and I called hiim and PM'ed him last night to double check on the plans and I havent heard from him at all. So now hopefully Eric (username optikal-the one who shaved the rear taillights, tailgate, and did the roll pan and all) is going to come down tomorrow and do the welding for me instead. so thats awesome that he has offered to help me out.
So since welding didnt take place today I didnt wanna waste it so I took care of some more stuff
-replaced the evap canister screws with 3/8" bolts
-drilled holes for and mounted my drag blocks (brian blocks)
-raised the 4 bolt holes for the gas tank 3/4" so i wont drag the gas tank (always a good thing)
-drilled holes for and mounted the train horns. 4 total, 2 on each side. these are the hornblasters train horns
drag blocks:

raised gas tank holes:

train horns:

new stronger bolts for the evap canister:
