I vote for the dump gate, put up a poll but don't ask how it should be done cause you know what'll happen then.

jesus christ, why are you still subscribed to my threads? Just stay out, seriously, your comments are always negative towards me. And by the way, I could give two shits what you or anyone else think about my truck, or if you would want to give it a second glance at a show or not. Im building the truck to my likings, not anyone elses. Go jump off a cliff please. s10forum will be better off without you.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

you know how on a dump truck, the gate is hinged at the top, so when it tilts up, all the stuff slides out the bottom. kinda like a doggy door if you can see that. you would need some kinda of actuators or something to open it up as the bed dumps. that would look sweet all in one motion.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

why would ya need an actuator? as the bed dumps it would open(after you release whatever latch mechanism we would do)

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

yeah but then it would just hand there perpendicular to the ground, flapping in the breeze. if it came all the way even with the top of the bed it would look better IMO. it's your truck though, either way it will look good.

I appreciate your actual constructive criticisim/ideas (unlike others on here *caugh*) but perpendicular would be the more natural look, which is what I would prefer to go with.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

well real dump trucks just use gravity and the force of whatever is dumping to push it open after its unlatched. what kinds of things you think you will be dumping? lol. i mean you can always add some kind of actuator down the road. what about an air powered one, so it open at the same rate as your bed goes up? just thinking that would use already available air. i'll shut up now though. but yeah do the dump gate, it will bring the bed together.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

gravity man, gravity lol. but ya, i think it would be a great way to finish off the dump bed. Ive never seen a gate done like this, has anyone? It is difficult to do something original these days in the automotive modifying world, so it would be cool to finally have one aspect be a true custom thing that no one else has done.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

well just take the current hinge system from the bottom of the gate and move it up as high as it can go. it's just two circles on each side. shouldn't be too hard. now the latch it up to you. maybe pull something out of the trunk of a car, and have it sit under the floor. something like that. then you can put a solenoid/actuator on that to pop it open.

my vote is for the dump gate. I think it would look cool.

and in some weird way, it brings a twist of old school minitruckin into the theme, when the guys used to have their beds come off and spin around in the air. they were like transformers! haha. All you would need now is a suicide hinge on the hood and that truck would look crazy with the lambo doors up, bed dumped, hood suicided!

i agree. before long, its gonna look like one of those vans you see from Japan that has shit going all over the place. for the most part, i think your truck is pretty nice/clean, but i think you're going to end up with too much going on and its gonna lose its appeal.
i guess it all depends what look you're going for. i just think that having lambo doors open, bed dumped and tailgate swinging in the wind, its gonna be like a little kid flailing his arms saying "look at me"

dude u asked for a ****ing opinion. 3 posts before me 2 different people said that it would look broken. Not to mention people comments that follow. And if your building the truck to your likings how come before u do anything u look for forums members approval on the subject?

Oh I asked for an opinion did I? Really? I was asked about what I plan on doing with the tailgate, and I simply replied to the question. I was being quiet about the tailgate, but since someone asked I figured I would answer instead of pulling the dumb shit people do sometimes and keeping it a suprise. Re-read my post, show me where I asked for opinions:

Quote: Originally Posted by xtucking22s

So **** a tailgate for this year lol. There are 2 possibilities though for when I have John do the tailgate for me though.

1. original plan - shave the handle, relocate to inside, and sheetmetal the inside of the tailgate to match the rest of the inside of the bed. Typical, practical, simple, predictable.

2. wacky plan that I think i wanna do - its a dump truck right? why not make the tailgate open like a dump truck...hinged at the top? I would be putting the design of this into Johns hands soley, and am waiting for an estimate on how much this would cost to have done, as it requires totally new hinging and latching of the tailgate.

Pending the cost and feasability of doing it the option #2 way, i think that is the route I want to take, but it wont be until fall, im broke(relatively speaking) and I am working on starting to save money and be responsible. I gave myself 1 year of play time after i graduated to spend all the money i wanted to on the truck, well that year is now up, so im trying to not spend much more on the truck anymore. Moving out of home and in with the girlfriend is working its way to the top of the priority ladder.
Moral of the story here is if I wanna do it, im going to do it with or without s10forums approval.

but others have had other nice things to say in reguards to other members and other threads and other posts. Every single freakin post I have seen from you in my threads and every other members thread is always negative, that is why i have a problem with you. I could care less what s10forum thinks about how "clean" my truck is. if i cared so much then i would have suicided my doors just to please the common minitrucker. Incase you or anyone else hasnt noticed im not trying to build the stereotypical bagged, bodydropped, suicide-doored "clean" s-10 minitruck. That isnt what I am going for. Dont get me wrong, i like the stereotypical s-10, but that isnt what im trying to accomplish with my own, that is all.

And I dont not want to see opinions, its a free country, people can voice their opinion. Doesnt mean I gotta agree with it or care about their opinion. But they are free to voice their opinion.
