Looking good. I always felt hugely satisfied when I got a major component of the progress completed. Congradulations and good luck with the rest of the build. Just keep an eye on those brakes. I'm sure you'll be okay but it never hurts to keep a close eye on things.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

thanks for all the compliments everyone! and thank you VERY much to those of you in particular who have really helped me a lot with learning a lot of things...in particular Nick and Joe who have both helped me out big time via PMs, phone calls, and right here in this thread. Minitruckers really do help each other out in a big way.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

i installed the door popper mechanism in the drivers side tonight. what an ordeal that was...and totally unexpected. I followed brians how to: http://www.s10forum.com/how_to_avs_d...tuator_install

I ran into the 2 same problems he had with having to grind down some of the white plastic latch thing that attached the motor, and the frame of the AVS unit hitting the body line of the door panel which i solved by just grinding down the frame. getting the window track back in afterwards was a totally unexpected problem that took me a while to figure it out and when i first started tonight my window wouldnt work! couldnt figure out why....checked fuses and couldnt find anything then thought to look at the connection between the motor for the power window and the harness that it plugs into and for whatever reason eric had disconnected it and never reconnected it. before i realized that i thought something was seriously broken and i was pissed. and i also had to extend the wires because they were long enough(the wires that go to the popper) so what I had expected to take 20-30 minutes a door ended up taking 3.5 hours, grrrrr. I guess ill do the passenger side tomorrow. brians tutorial says 10-15 minutes.....HA!!!!

now...i tried putting in the door pushers...and i did but then it made it almost impossible to get the door to close easily because by the nature of what it is, it pushes against the door. so you need to SLAM the door shut to get it to latch/close all the way. and i didnt like it at all, and it barely pushed the door open much anyways...maybe like 1" more then with just the AVS door popper kit alone. so i took it out, and now my door closes with ease. i can just close the door like i would any other car and the door closes/latches all the way. whats other people's experiences with using/not using the door pushers?

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

ya the kit itself is great, i cant imagine doing it with any other kit, bolt on FTW!!!! but the kit does need a couple small revisions. mainly just the main metal frame thing needs to not hit the body line of the door and the white plastic thing needs to be a little redesigned ill post a pic tonight of how much i had to trim off. it wasnt a big deal....but was annoying.

When did you buy the kit? A friend of mine just installed his about a month or 2 ago and he had no issues bolting them on out of the box. I know AVS has made some revisions to them you might of got stuck with the older models, but hey as long as you got it dont thats all that matters. Nice Hood by the way!

Keeping up the killer work!

Yeah I just put that AVS kit in my Blazer and I ran into a few issues. 1 was the plastic piece at the end of the actuator didn't fit so I had to grind it down a little. I didn't have a problem with teh bodyline touching the frame but I did have a problem with the actuator not going all the way back up. For some reason I had to redrill all the holes about 1/4" higher on the frame. That was on both sides. Wiring mine was a breeze luckily.

As for the poppers, I ran without them for about a week and hated it. Mine are protocol poppers and they are adjustable by turning them. At first it was hard to shut the doors but after a few turns they shut easily now.
