Re: [Project] Living up to my username

thanks for the compliments everyone!!! I actually had a dream last night that the truck started and i was able to drive it. the dream came true for the most part....the engine starting anyways. if it wasnt for the brake fitting leaking then i would have been able to actually drive it, but with no brakes that is a little sketchy haha. Joe if you are reading this, the fitting that is leaking the is the one blue one, on the output of the RPV. it is leaking between the RPV and the fitting on all 3 of the RPVs. is it possible you told me the wrong fitting or something? I mean it is the only leak i have in the entire brake system and it is on all 3 rpvs and they are tight. so something must not be right here?

it is #6 that is leaking:

and my power steering pump is making some loud noises too.....anyone know what that means? It was fine, then I checked the fluid levels and it seemed low (because it was disconnected and i drained some when i hooked up the hyrdoboost) so I added some and now it makes a nasty sound....anyone know what the deal is? too much fluid? not enough? something else it might be? the power steering does work...the pump is just loud when the truck is on, and if you go to turn the steering wheel it gets louder.

haha let me drive the truck first and see how comfortable I am driving hella long distances in it. besides...i dont want to drive in the rain ever, getting it dirty would suck. call me a pussy if you want, but driving in the rain to a show on a friday then spending all day saturday at the show cleaning the truck isnt fun to me. id loe to be able to pull up to a show, unload the truck, and be done and clean allready. i like to walk around at car shows and stuff, not clean for 8 hours.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

ya...eric said he will get me all the body pieces sometime this upcoming week. so this time next week id like to to think it will be all put back together minus the bed. the bed i am afraid is going to be really last minute getting it done before my show in february, hopefully eric wont put that off to last minute cuz i need to take it to get Line-Xed.

and i started the truck up about an hour ago...power steering pump doesnt seem to be making that noise anymore, so whatever it was is gone luckily. maybe the fluid i added had to settle or something? i dunno, seems good now.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

awesome job man looks good in the driveway actually hittin some UV rays lol and hopefully you get that brake leaking figured out. I'd def say something must be wrong with the #6 fittings if at every single piece it leaks. But good luck dude looks awesome

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

i talked with Joe and we concluded that the fitting is out of threads before it seals with the RPV, so the fitting needs to have more threads. like...when you tighten something with threads you usually have a couple threads still showing, well in this case it doesnt. so i need to find a new fitting or get Wilwood RPVs instead that use different sized fittings and then it will work. ill get that solved this week hopefully

can't wait to see it all together. i'm sure i'll see you at the nopi in MD. i'm there every year.

i feel the same way, i hate cleaning all day at shows - i usually get there in the mornings, park my truck. clean it up some and sit under my tent all day and drink.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username

I need help you plumbing fitting gurus!(sp?)

ok, so the brake fitting that is leaking is #6 on my drawing: 4an to 1/2"-20 I.F. I have 5 of these fittings: 3 on the RPVs, and 2 coming out of the master cylinder. my problem is that i tightened them as much as they will go, and the bottomed out, meaning they ran out of thread and didnt bottom out on the thing they sit on when you screw it in. The picture below is the fitting causing the issues. Distance "D" needs to be a little bit longer, just need a couple more threads and think that will do the trick.

anyone know where i can get one that is a little bit longer? help me out, this is the only thing holding me up from driving the truck up and down the driveway (no body panels keep me from going on the road though). but this stupid fitting is holding me up! help me out and find me a fitting that is a wee bit longer!!!! im gonna go look for different brands and look at pics online, but if anyone knows of anything let me know!

know any one with a lathe?
if so have them turn some off the end of the rvp and some off the hex on the fitting. i had to do the same one one of my braided lines going in to the passenger side caliper.
