Re: [Project] Living up to my username
just think about how badass it will be when your done it tho. you know how many times i've said that to myself? i've got like 100+ hours just sanding on the INSIDE of my truck. the outside, i probally have about 20-30 give or take. all the prep work, primer, bondo, then when it was done wetsanded it twice, and buffed it 5 times total. think my arms/wrists will never be the same again.
it looks pretty badass to me tho. ![]() |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
not really sure how much it matters. but on a master cylinder the first outlet closest to the firewall is for the front brakes and the one closest to the core support is the rear brakes.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
allright, i just flipped the two lines around, they still work. if i would have known that before i would have made the lines differenet lengths to make it look as good as i originally had it, but it gets the job done correctly now, and im not about to let those two lines go to waste. but thanks for pointing that out twin-10s
this is why i post everything i do, for everyone to check my work for correctness, and for others to learn from my mistakes Last edited by xtucking22s : 01-05-2008 at 01:21 AM. |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
hahaha, damn that is long. ya...if I was to be completly done on January 12th which is a very slight possibility(the bed wont be painted/line X by then but everything else should be done) then it will be exactly a 6 month project. i started June 12th....ya it takes time lol. but ive taken on quiet a few other things then just a simple bag job so i feel the 6 months is easily justified. and im a Noob to EVERYTHING on this lol, only "experience" I had before hand was reading stuff on here and learning. I still have yet to ever do an oil change in my entire life
I wonder if I can handle that after this project? hahaLast edited by xtucking22s : 01-05-2008 at 01:31 AM. |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
yeah looks like everything you have done is done right and that takes time.
when i did the front of mine (getting it to layout) it was the first time i had done it. learned a lot from reading all i could from this site. |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
Looking good Adam...I just got home from Charleston and saw your text. You did it right...the port closest to the firewall is for the rears...and the port closest to the core support is for the fronts...for the stock MC that is.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
Yes...the way you had it before is corect...WITH A STOCK MC..Aftermarket MC's vary by manufacturer on what port does what. For example, on my MC that I got from summit, the ports are opposite of the stock MC.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
going to whore a little bit here and bring some humor into this thread. here is an instruction manual for Ryo and Adam on how to change your oil... hahaha
Oil Change instructions for Women: 1) Pull into your nearest '15 Minute Oil Change' when the mileage reaches 3000 miles since the last oil change. 2) Drink a cup of coffee 3) 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle. Money spent: Oil Change: $20.00 Coffee: $1.00 Total: $21.00 Oil Change instructions for Men : 1) Wait until Saturday, drive to auto parts store and buy a case of oil, filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner and a scented tree, write a check for $50.00. 2) Stop by 7/11 and buy a case of beer, write a check for $20, drive home. 3) Open a beer and drink it. 4) Jack car up. Spend 30 minutes looking for jack stands. 5) Find jack stands under kid's pedal car. 6) In frustration, open another beer and drink it. 7) Place drain pan under engine. 8) Look for 9/16 box end wrench. 9) Give up and use crescent wrench. 10) Unscrew drain plug. 11) Drop drain plug in pan of hot oil: splash hot oil on you in process. Cuss. 12) Crawl out from under car to wipe hot oil off of face and arms. Throw kitty litter on spilled oil. 13) Have another beer while watching oil drain. 14) Spend 30 minutes looking for oil filter wrench. 15) Give up; crawl under car and hammer a screwdriver through oil filter and twist off. 16) Crawl out from under car with dripping oil filter splashing oil everywhere from holes. Cleverly hide old oil filter among trash in trash can to avoid environmental penalties. Drink a beer. 17) Install new oil filter making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to gasket surface. 18) Dump first quart of fresh oil into engine. 19) Remember drain plug from step 11. 20) Hurry to find drain plug in drain pan. 21) Drink beer. 22) Discover that first quart of fresh oil is now on the floor. Throw kitty litter on oil spill. 23) Get drain plug back in with only a minor spill. Drink beer. 24) Crawl under car getting kitty litter into eyes. Wipe eyes with oily rag used to clean drain plug. Slip with stupid crescent wrench tightening drain plug and bang knuckles on frame removing any excess skin between knuckles and frame. 25) Begin cussing fit. 26) Throw stupid crescent wrench. 27) Cuss for additional 5 minutes because wrench hit bowling trophy. 28) Beer. 29) Clean up hands and bandage as required to stop blood flow. 30) Beer. 31) Dump in five fresh quarts of oil. 32) Beer. 33) Lower car from jack stands. 34) Move car back to apply more kitty litter to fresh oil spilled during any missed steps. 35) Beer. 36) Test drive car. 37) Get pulled over: arrested for driving under the influence. 38) Car gets impounded. 39) Call loving wife, make bail. 40) 12 hours later, get car from impound yard. Money spent: Parts: $50.00 DUI: $2500.00 Impound fee: $75.00 Bail: $1500.00 Beer: $20.00 Total: $4,145.00 But you know the job was done right! |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
and that is EXACTLY why i havent changed my oil myself before lol. I think with my new truck and its rediculously expensive oil changes cuz of the 12 quarts or whatever it takes I am going to start doing my own.And Joe, thanks for the clarification, im going to trust you on this one as I have trusted you on everything else brake wise so far. thanks again |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
hay man i have don a lot of that kind of work "on fuel systems at work and some drag cars"
if you rap it in tape "witch you all ready know" then just use a air cut off wheel, it spins fast and will not pull all the little pieces of wire apart we have tryed other stuff but that seams to work the best then just blow some shop air through the line to clean it out if you want just try it on a junk piece it's worth a shot |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
allright....so here is what we have...
say to criss-cross the lines going from master cylinder to combination valve twins-10s extremelyslow say to not criss-cross the lines.... genx-treme well can we all get this figured out? cuz clearly someone is incorrect here. I trust Joe's judgement but that is now two people who say otherwise, and now that i think of it i remember the user MokoCustoms who criss crossed the lines as well. so that is 1 persons word versus 3, but I have trusted that ones persons judgement on everything else brake wise so far, so i dont want to start doing the oposite of what Joe says. What is correct? ill have pictures of all the brake lines done by the end of the night. I have just about all the lines made up and installed. Only have 2 more hose ends to do out of the 20 I had total. What took me 1.5 hours at my first attempt to make a hose with 2 ends now thats me no more then 15 minutes max to do. yay for a learning curve! ![]() |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
Is that your original mastercylinder or did it come with the hydraboost? If it did come with the hydraboost, do you know what vehicle it came off of? I can look up which port does what.
Looking in my 2002 manual on the brake line diagram. The front port(closest to the core support) goes to the rear brakes. The rear port(closest to the firewall) goes to the front brakes. |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
this is the stock master cylinder still. the company that sold me the hydroboost said my stock one is just fine to use as the hydroboost adds so much more braking power that an upgraded master cylinder was just overkill...he sells them so if he wanted to feed me some Bullshit he could have and sold me one, but he said it would be a waste of my money. so yes, it is the stock master cylinder. So I know you know your shit Jeremy, so sorry Joe but im gonna have to agree with everyone else now. So I now have them criss-crossed to be correct. pics to come in a few minutes. im done!(the brake lines)

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
Yea we used a chop saw with a carbon fiber style disk to cut heavy duty braided lines on the presses at work. We also left the tap on the ends when we were done. And those fitting undured more pressure than a brake system |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
allright...got all the brake lines done. concluced that the master cylinder to combination valve needed to be flipped around from how i had it before. excuses the flash of the camera really ruining the pictures and also ignore the surface rust on the rotors that will come off the first time i apply the brakes
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and Eric texted me tonight....he isnt going to be making it down tomorrow with the other door, fender, and hood. He said something didnt go as planned so he cant get it done by tonight to bring to me tomorrow. so ill get the body panels on later in the week he said. fine by me...I dont want him to rush and the paint not be perfect, he knows that. |
