Re: [Project] Living up to my username
So I changed my mind about the sway bar thing because after talking with members on here it seemed evident that its prolly not even possible to make it work on stock spindles and 22s. So no more sway bar for me, it should be fine considering its a 4 way system and I will prolly run shocks.
As for the tie rod notching i think I have talked myself into getting the Barely Legal No notch setup: http://www.barelylegalfabrication.com/NOnotchtierod.htm I like the idea of cutting out as little of the frame as possible, seems stronger to me, safer, and easier! |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
lol, yup. yay for being Graduated college and making Money! if I feel a part is going to make my truck what i want it to be, Im going to buy it. I spare no expense(within means here) to get what i want. Not to mention Im living at home right now, therefore My bills are small comparible to what Im making. I feel that for the first year of working i should reward myself for all those years of schooling by spending all the money on things that me happy instead of saving. In a year from now ill buckle down and start saving and move out, but for now its play time!

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
And I haven't actually tried stock spindles with the F150 endlinks, but I really do think that if you played around with it long enough and maybe shortened the endlinks that you could get them to work with stock spindles and 22s |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
Thanks Brent, But I had allready noticed that I would need to specify for that, but thank for watching out for me!
Ok todays progress...I wanted to test fit my LS1 Fbody brakes to make sure everything was kosher before I spent the money to powdercoat them and to make sure it will all line up and all. So thats pretty much what I accomplished tonight. I only get to work from like 7-10ish a night because of my day time job so keep that in mind. And tonight I spent an hour driving over to sears to get some new ratching wrenches and while I was there i decided that I NEEDED 26 new screwdrivers......it was on sale i couldnt resist, who wouldnt want more tools right? Sorry....Sears, Home Depot, etc are all my Toy stores. I have an incredible sense of accomplishment with what I did tonight. Im not gonna lie, this whole thing is way more then I have ever done before. Ive never even changed my oil before lol, and here I am now doing all this shit. Im a complete Noob at "real" car work stuff and I felt real good about figuring out how to do stuff like get the drums off and the axles out and everything. Some of you prolly think its silly for me to feel this way as these things might be so second nature to you but to me this is all the first time for me, so its a big deal for me. sorry for rambling.... pics.... F you drum brakes! ![]() ![]() ![]() the new toys ![]() test fit ![]() I was worried about the clearance witht he calipers and hitting the frame when I air out, its going to be close but I should be allright ![]() ![]() Damn 9.5" rims pushing the limit. Hope its not a problem either. Before I had 5/16" spacers on the back but I had to take it off for this test fit because with the spacers I can maybe get one turn of the lug nut, there arent enough threads on the stud. The new brakes push everything out a little bit more I think, so Can I put longer studs on my axles? or whats the deal? It doesnt look like it after having looked at it. I dunno, we'll see ![]() Ok now I think I might(thats a big maybe, the gf might wanna do something tomorrow night) drop the gas tank tomorrow. But My question is do I hve to remove the 2 filler neck things going into the tank so when I drop it down it doesnt hit the frame and bend the hell out of those filler neck things? Like then it seems if the tank tips over its going to spill gas out everywhere, and just doesnt seem safe to me, but if thats how ya gotta o it then so be it. ![]() Last edited by xtucking22s : 06-14-2007 at 11:31 PM. |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
Leave the filler neck alone. Just put jack underneath the tank, unbolt the straps, then you will need to try and slide the jack with the tank over just a bit and then drop the tank down. I bent the filler neck up and to the top of the tank and had no problems. Its just a rubber piece so its ok. I hope you tank is almost empty to, that thing is heavy.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
O yea, make sure you disconnect the three connectors from the top also. You dont want to bend and kink those gas lines.

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
put a jack under the tank and unbolt the bracket next to the ebrake cable, and unbolt the straps, it should just drop right down, pull the jack out from the gas tank after its on the ground and slide it out...make sure to drill the bracket holes up about 3/4 of an inch then reinstall
also im sure there is a post about it....but what rear disc (part numbers) did you use and how hard was it ...did you take anymore pics of the disc install Last edited by 2002ZQ8 : 06-15-2007 at 11:37 AM. |

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
take the tank out it will make it alot easier to work on.. also u might want to consider raisin the front of the tank up some. that kit comes with a gas tank crossmember to raise it up but it raises only the back u should raise the front up by drillin new mount holes on the frame

Re: [Project] Living up to my username
allright thanks for the advice with the gas tank. Unfortunatly it is still about 1/3 full, but at least its not a full tank of gas. And ya I knew to redrill the holes 3/4" higher to raise the gas tank so it doesnt drag but thanks for stating that anyways incase i hadnt allready known that.
The Brakes I bought off a member on here: highvoltagedriver. He told me they are 98-02 camaro/firebird 12" disc brakes. I have no part numbers though. They were very easy to install, i mean its just the 4 bolts holding the backing plate onto the axle flange, then 2 bolts that hold the caliper onto the backing plate. What is going to be tricky is figuring out how to rehook up my e brake cable, ill have to figure that one out eventually. I have posted all the pics I took, I dont know if you saw the pic of them before i installed them but here are all the pics i have taken in gallery format: http://prestigiousinnovations.com/Ga...Baggin-Project Last edited by xtucking22s : 06-15-2007 at 12:13 PM. |
