Re: [Project] Live-On

jared?

the painless comes with the custom cam and the harness tuned for it. if i got a cam after the wiring i would have to get it tuned to run with the cam anyway?

Re: [Project] Live-On

Nice progress so far. The main thing is, are you prepared to be without a truck for a little while. Since you're like most people and can only work on it after work you will have to park the s10 for a bit. Hopefully you've got something else to drive. Keep the pics coming. And I've heard nothing but good about Painless and complete wiring harness+performace cam for 350 hp at $1500, definately go for it.

Re: [Project] Live-On

I can't wait until I graduate high-school and can go off to Wyo-Tech and get me a better job, and then open my own shop so I can build my truck. Right now I'm just working at Five Guys Burgers and Fries so that pretty much just pays the bills and doesn't leave much money to put into the truck. I'm saving up right now for a new set of mud tires. Unfortunately that's a big purchase so it's taking me a little while. What really sucks is that the longer I wait, the more the prices go up!! Haha oh well, anyway keep us posted.

Re: [Project] Live-On

Well I'm not really planning on the job placement program. I plan to graduate from there and then go to work in a garage somewhere and get some experience and then open my own shop or offroad accessories store(not sure which one yet). Yea I appreciate the tip though. I considered UTI, but I just like something about WyoTech a little more.

I agree with the "For Jimmy" idea Defiantly needs an emblem or sticker or something.. Maybe something in the paint like ghost type airbrushing. Just an idea

Re: [Project] Live-On

Since you are already replacing the cam and valve springs if you can afford it I would say go ahead and invest in a good set of roller rockers. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to clean up the valves and cylinders. You will basically have half of the motor tore down anyway. The new rockers would make the motor run smoother and quieter and it would also create a little more power!

Re: [Project] Live-On

^^^ what he said hell u could prolly crack the heads off and get a dremel wth a good porting bit and sanding roll things and do a little selk port and polih I dont imagine it being that hard since all ur doing is smoothing out the rough spots and gasket match the intake and exhaust u know little stuff that can help since it will be almost fully torn down anyway keep up the good work

Re: [Project] Live-On

Yea, new rockers might just be out of the question then. That could hurt your budget. You could always do the rockers later on down the road but it just wouldn't be as convenient since you will already have the motor apart. It may just be smart to clean up your stock rockers and reassemble with them. Sometimes we have to sacrifice the things we want for the things that we actually need(aka parts to make it at least run!!). I say just get it in and drive the heck out of it!!

Yea it probably won't last very long. If you take it easy you could drive it for a while until you can afford to step it up. An 8.5 would probably be fine and you could find one in a junkyard or something like that. But like I've said at least it will be on the road and you can drive it, and right now that's the main goal. There's really no point in replacing the rear end until it does break though!

I'm not real sure on which ones are best but check out www.shopheaders.com. They have several brands ranging from like $89+. I don't know what will fit and what won't but I'm sure someone in the LSX section can, just look around on there and see what you can find.

Re: [Project] Live-On

Yea I'll be getting an intake gasket in a few days mine blew out this morning. It was spraying a steady stream of coolant all over my alternator and it was running all down the front of the motor. Now I'm driving my brothers silverado on 20's until I get mine fixed. I love his truck though, 5.3L with intake and exhaust, leather and everything. He offered to trade me straight up for my zr2 but his is 2wd. I checked to see if I had a picture of it but I don't so oh well. I'm sure I'll end up posting one of it before I get mine fixed.

Yea man here's a few that I took after I washed it today. It was dirty from not being driven so I decided if I'm going to drive it, it's going to be clean. So here they are.

It's pretty quick for a basically stock 327.

Yea he plans to lower it when he gets back from Afghanistan if he sells his '08 civic. I told him he needs to lower it on some 22's and put his sound system back in it. But do you have any new updates on the dime? It's been a few days !
