project:Ladyluck

Since i don't want clog up the forum with a bunch of different threads, im going to post some questions that i did search for a read how to's, but couldn't find an answer or are still unclear to me. i also will end up posting progress of the truck when i do start bagging it. im going to go with the SD 4link, so most of the questions have to do with it, or general bagging stuff

so to start off here are some things that i don't get:

-do i have to extend brake lines/replace?
-is the 4 link just like the 3 link/5 link install thread on here?
-does the 4 link come with lower adjustable bars? if not, should i worry about getting them?
-if i put the gastank in the rear of the bed, will i have any problems as in extending lines or issues with gas guage/floater if i do extend lines?
-when i go and try to find my ride height, what if i ride lower or drag, will this mess up my pinion angle at all, or will it affect it at all?
-when hooking up air management, is the chart on sd.com accurate or do i have to throw in relays of any sort? dont the pressure switch act as a relay?

thanks for any help at all. i just want to know everything i need to know before starting this project since i will be working hard for it. im sure most people on here have saw my truck as it is right now but ill post it again as a teaser pic until progress starts(which will be a while):

Re: my future question/bagging thread

nice truck man.

-do i have to extend brake lines/replace?
• not unless they are in bad condition. i had to cut down my rear line and weld the bracket that converts the hard line to rubber line to my notch. for that all you need is a flairing tool and a plumbing style tubing cutter. it is easy enough to do.
-is the 4 link just like the 3 link/5 link install thread on here?
• yes and no. they both work the same. while driving the truck, you won't notice a difference between either one. the only major difference is the fact that there is no mount for the gas tank so you will have to run your tank in the bed, run a 2dr blazer tank behind the axle and under the bed, or run a fuel cell.
-does the 4 link come with lower adjustable bars? if not, should i worry about getting them?
• not sure what you mean, but the lower bars are the same as the 3 link lower bars. you relocate the stock spring perches a little close to the axle and weld the axle brackets to the axle.
-if i put the gastank in the rear of the bed, will i have any problems as in extending lines or issues with gas guage/floater if i do extend lines?
• there is a 99% chance you will have to extend your fuel lines if you decide to run your tank in the bed. it won't mess with the sending unit/float at all. you are going to need to use the flairing tool again to do this. pretty simple.
-when i go and try to find my ride height, what if i ride lower or drag, will this mess up my pinion angle at all, or will it affect it at all?
• if you do the install properly, your pinion will not chance meaning you can set it for any height and have no worries. i usually set it about 4" from the truck laying out. you need an angle finder (get one at home depot) and you will have to point the diff up from level about 3 degrees (ideal to set it opposite of the tranny whish should be damn close to 3 degrees pointing down from level as well).
-when hooking up air management, is the chart on sd.com accurate or do i have to throw in relays of any sort? dont the pressure switch act as a relay?
• yes you need a relay for every compressor. i would recommend the viair dual pak 480 kit because it comes with 2 realys and a pressure switch. the relays allow you to run a safe voltage to the pressure switch so it doesn't burn out and also the ability to connect the system to your ignition so your compressors turn off when your truck turns off.

hope that helps

Re: my future question/bagging thread

lol not yet im sure there will be plenty more. thanks for taking the time. i was actually looking at getting the duel viar 380's(pretty much because of the price). is there a good thread or chart on how to hook up the management system with relays and all that shit? because im kind of still clueless on that part.

Re: my future question/bagging thread

there is a diagram in the box, with the compressors.

basically ignition > toggle switch (for emergencies) > relays in parallel > pressure switch > ground.

then the other leads on the relays are for the power wires on the compressors.

Re: my future question/bagging thread

im sure no one gives a shit but i got the money up and giving SD a call tom to put in an order for my whole rear setup.

pretty much a simple list is this:
tb s10 4 link - 469
s10 notch - 100
switchbox wire - 20
Airlift Easystreet 200 PSI Single Needle - 30
airlift dominator d2600 - 150
1/8 airline - 10
5 gallon 4 port tank - 60
viar 380 chrome duel pack compressors - 290
switches - 10
smc 3/8 valves - 60

as for the airline, im running all copper lines to be a bit different and getting the fittings from a supply shop near home. just curious, how much do you think shipping will be on that much stuff?

Re: my future question/bagging thread

ok i got my stuff ordered yes. when i ordered the 4 link i asked if it came with a template of how far to move the front spring perches up and they just told me to come on here and find that out. so im kinda confused because i read the 3/5 link instal and it said to USE THE SUPPLIED TEMPLATE to move the perches forward. WTF?

The 3/5-link how to says how far forward you should move the perches if you do not have the template. When you get your link if it doesnt have a template pm me and I will mail you mine. I finishing up my 5-link soon and I wont need it.

you do understand that with that 4 link you have to relocate your gas tank/ get a fuel cell right?

Sweet man! Good luck on the bagging process.

I noticed you only bought switch box wire, what are you doing for the actual switches?

Re: my future question/bagging thread

haha well since im only doing my rear for now and eventually only going to do a FB setup, i was going to get toggle switches and just make my own box but i ordered the wrong type of toggle switch lol. i ordered the one that just clicks back in forth, not like the ones that go up and down like on switchboxes, so if someone could give me a link that would be awesome lol

Re: project:Ladyluck

Here you go. If you are only doing 1 bag up/down you want a 3 prong. For 2 bags do a 6 prong and for all up/all down you want a 12 prong.

Hey Colton, some of the guys are trying to get a saturday night hangout going again at Auto & Truck Restylers on Blanding across from Ray Carter Kia, we will be out there this saturday at about 8pm until whenever as long as it doesn't rain. And the next truck night is August 7th at 7:30pm at Lil Bambino's in south Orange Park.

Yeah if you aren't doing FBSS and you are tying the rear bags together then you will only need 1 3 prong switch for the back bags. There are so many configurations that I would have to know exactly what you are wanting to tell you exactly how many of each you need. But yes for the back being Tee'd together you will only need the one switch. How will you be doing the front? I would suggest separate so you can control them and adjust for the chevy lean or leaks. If you do that then you will need 2 3 prongs and 1 6 prong for the front along with your 1 3 prong for the back. So 4 switches total.

i honestly havent decided, i considered doing that but my truck is only a 1/4 off so i really am not sure if i even want to mess with sides.

the front will be done this winter more than likely when work is slow and i'll have time to rip my inner fender wells off and tub for 20's

Re: project:Ladyluck

Alright this should work for you. The black lines are ground that you bolt directly to bare metal (chassis) the red is a power wire. The fuse panal already exists and you should be running your power wire to the switch from a fuse in the panel. If you have 2 more valves, as in 1 more fill and 1 more dump then you put the power ire from the fill valve to #5 and the power wire to the dump valve to #3.
