Project: **** Katrina

After carting this thing across country 2x, replacing the starter, the body harness, the engine fuse panel, the compressor, the fuel pump and pick up assembly, the oil a few times (to get water out), the tranny fluid (gotta do that more or just yank it out for a rebuild, the fuel filter (it was so dam bad!), fuel rail and injectors, and spark plugs, and today I pulled the pass side header, replaced the gaskets on it and pulled every spark plug for a good cleaning and replaced the one on the pass side you can not get at without pulling the header,
I was rewarded with this:

Re: Project: **** Katrina

that minus the body emblems, mirrors and generally looking like crap with a lot of rust and mold looking dirt on it, but thats all changing. That and the body line is shaved all the way down the left side and tailgate, the cowl is shaved, and the front end is all in flat black.

yeah well mine wasnt running and we knew we had to get out of there fast. We only got about 1-2 foot, but it was enough to ruin my starter, compressor, fuel pump and pickup, etc. We were up till 3am saturday watching and waitting to see what happened. My roomie asked if we should leave, I said "if the old folks leave down the street leave". When we woke up at about 8am everybody in sight were gone and the old folks were packing up.

Re: Project: **** Katrina

2 feet maybe, wasnt that bad

Ok, here it is. Its been drug threw an engine swap due to a spun bearing, a hurricane, a flood, 2 cross country moves, and all my hair brained ideas, but shes making a comeback! Plans are for a phantom grill, Yota bumper, the 3 amps on the tailgate, 4 12s, full interior, basically all the stuff in my sig finished.

I saw the thread on blazinlow about your move up here to WA. Did you get your bedsides on the Silverado fixed?

nope, I dont want Maaco to do it so much and its going to cost me out of pocket if anybody else does it. Trying to save up to get the bedsides replaced and get the tailgate done while they are at it

Re: Project: **** Katrina

Ok, so I got more done today. Got the water temp, oil sender, and starter wired up off the 18 circuit harness from Summit.
Also got my rollpan, tail light fillers and caddy buckets ordered!

Also hooked up some toggles so I can have one gauge monitor both A/F ratio gauges and one gauge for the trans temp and oil temp(maybe). Yes the A/F took a dent, but Im going to get a new one that matches the rest of them.

Also got everything hooked up for the actual cluster. I have tape wrapped around it so the back side doesnt short out and i have a new plexiglass front for it so I dont care about tape residue

Re: Project: **** Katrina

The wait is killing me! I ordered my rollpan, fillers and buckets friday. Today is thursday and they are on the truck on the way here and its 12:30. I know thats fast, but I wanna get stuff going! ****ing FBI said UPS would deliver and after they shipped they said DHL would be doing it. I hate DHL, never had good luck with or their drivers. I am checking it over top to bottom before signing for it, then bitching FBI out. I guess thats what I get for ordering from FBI! again

This is what I got

and what I started with

and after some trimming and welding, this is where Im at as of now. Im hoping to get the tail lights and buckets done by saturday, maybe see some brake light action

Re: Project: **** Katrina

Ok, so the FBI rollpan was too long. Also the bend in it didnt match the curve of the truck so I had to tack it at the bottom and push it in some, tack, curve and tack, push, tack, and push again and tack. I got it right and it looks great, but for one guy lying on the ground with his foot holding up one end and tacking the other, it was a PITA! The tail light fillers need either the top removed (with a crappy body line) or bottom removed (no body line, but who does that?) and about 1/2" on the front of each to be cut off. The 13" recessed light was all warped up like a bow and the caddy buckets have so much extra metal that Im going to need to cut a hair shy of a 1/4 of metal out of the top to get the buckets to fit anywhere close to snug to the caddies and maybe some on the bottom.

Re: Project: **** Katrina

just some little stuff.
Wired up some 4ga from the 2400 to the 600 up front to help the little guy out. Dam that 4ga looks small compared to the battery!

Been beating in the side some, but now its time for a big piece of steel to go in there so I can beat on that instead to spread out the hammer whacks!

started on the pass side body line

Cut 7 rings for my 6 1/2. Why 7? Had enough wood for an extra and thought that I might screw one up so might as well. Love having router tables and table saws at work! Also did my 4 12" rings and 2 10s for the Mrs car (not pictured)

more to come as always

Re: Project: **** Katrina

Just got Mr Brown stopping by
These links and brackets are beefy!
I wear a size 12 and I didnt have a clue as to the size of the axle brackets by looking online! Now Im just waiting on my 4-link bars from LA, my 5 gallon slim and skinny tank, my 9 gallon from AIM, and some shackles for the Silverado. Mr Brown will be busy this week!

Re: Project: **** Katrina

started cutting on the floor to get at the old links and other crap. Im thinking BD here soon while Im at it. Found out that the guy that did the links burnt through the house on my rear end vent and the rubber surround on the soft brake line from the frame to the rearend! I also need a new gas line now due to me not being able to stick my hand all the way in and feel where the gas lines were when I cut. Im praying to god that I didnt set it aflame! After that I ripped out the tank, no chancing it again, I guess it wont be running soon. After really looking at them I realized that the lines really were going to need to be moved anyway, so cutting one wasnt a big deal.

Im going to cut out the floor as a whole on all the mounting points for the rear seat so I can weld it in later with less issues. Id post pics, but PB is being a pill and wont upload it for me and keeps redirecting it to an old picture?

Re: Project: **** Katrina

got in more from Mr Brown
5 gallon slim and skinny tank

My old links with the brackets the guy tried to do that I have to cut off now.

and with the new bag mount

and if you think that welding was bad, check out the job on the front shock mounts another guy had done. This is why I never ran shocks!
Can you say ZERO penetration?

Re: Project: **** Katrina

well I got some stuff done to it and knocked out out some pics of my tiny garage Im working out of. She is now sitting on on the notch so about 3" lower. Next week Im oing to work on removing the axle so I can get the old stuff off it and remove the axle spring perches cuz when I try to go to up to around a 2" drop or so the link bars hit it. Also the back side of the perch wont allow me to weld the rear axle brackets on.
