Working on that, I want to change to a blazer rear, hopefully with 4.11's and eventually 4.30's, so I will be changing springs then too. I need Z85's I believe

Anyone have an idea of what blazer model would have the 4.11s?

I don't think any thing came stock with a 4.10 or 4.11 other than 2.2's

That. That wasn't an option on any V6 s-series.

I mean there is nothing stopping you from getting a blazer rear end, and then the gears from a 4:11 4banger. (Came in most auto ext cabs) But you'd have to stick with a 7.625 rear. (Idk if you were looking for 8.5 or not lol. not sure why if you were. )

I want the wider axle that came under the Blazer, so that I can even out the tires spacing. The spindle lift pushes the front out 2 inches, 1 on either side, and it looks goofy to me, not hugely noticeable but enough!

Re: Project: Jamie, about time I figured out what I wanted and got to it!

What gear do you have in your 4 banger now? I thought All 2.2 5spd dimes had 4.10 gears?

BTW the build is awesome. It is giving me the itch to finish mine. I think at the first of the year I should be able to finish the build

Keep up the good work.

Reg Cab 5 speed with a 2.2 could have a 3.73, all ex cab 2.2's and all auto 2.2's got 4.10's.

Re: Project: Jamie, about time I figured out what I wanted and got to it!

Zero, nah I have 3.73's stock, and thank you for the compliments, I have held on to this truck because I love it, and it's a great truck, it has better leg room then my extended cab Ranger, and it has never let me down.

Stew, thanks for the info, maybe I'll just go for another S10 rear, and get the gears I want, I just need to get this truck back to being less of a pig!

I know 4.10s will help with more pep, but does it help or hurt gas mileage?

Re: Project: Jamie, about time I figured out what I wanted and got to it!

I want a LS, I don't need a full locker until later, she's mostly a street queen at the moment. The 4.10's will put me closer to stock, I need a 4.30ish gear to get back to stock, but that will run me around 310 bucks currently that I don't have!. that will gain some mileage back, as the 3.73's and 31's are currently a lot for the truck to push around lol

That's the idea, at the rate I'm going though, I may just go find a Ford 8.8. I have one in the Ranger, it's been a damn good rear end, but then I have to either change wheels. or bolt patterns, etc it's kind of a shitty cycle here

They are good rear ends but kit takes a good amount of custom work to make them ready for an S10..

Yeah, that's why I want to stick with what the GM rear, at least until I am ready to go bigger, badder and faster
