Project: home again!
Well, with every project, there is a story, so here it goes! When I was in college (ABout 12 years ago), my dad gave me a 1988 s15 5 speed 2wd. It was a great truck! I was 18, and started to fix it up slowly
![]() ![]() So, After it was in a tornado, and I got a nice check from the insurance company, I re-did everything. The interior, all the body panels were replaced, and I lowered it! (1999) ![]() ![]() Sorry about the pics, thats all I had! But I had to sale it in 2002 due to me being stupid, and having to pay for an engagement ring . I did sale it to my brother, and he drove it for a few years, but it blew the tranny (at 195k). So, about 3 years ago after I got divorced , I bought it back from him. He backed it into the garage one day (not bad), but I knew I wanted to start the project , and do it right! So I have been in the process of collecting interior parts, and ripping it down to the frame to do a frame up on it with a LSx series motor, just not deided which one yet. The frame is going to get sandblasted in September and I will POR 15 it. Enjoy the pics!![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Project: home again!
Well, it looks clean, but it was all the little items that weren't that good. Like the floor pans, fumes getting into it (Damn manual vents!), and rust on the underside of the bed. Also the drivers side rocker is bad. It is a great start, but I want it to be safe as well as fast and look good! Not a hack job!

Re: Project: home again!
Hell yes. that pic of it after it was redone. Lowered on the wheels with the rollpan, I'm working on getting a 1st gen 4.3 5spd. Going to lower it with a pan on some 18's for a nice daily to park my sierra! Cant wait to see the final outcome of this project!

Re: Project: home again!
Thanks! I had it lowered 5/6 at that point. It was a rough ride, but it looked great! I wont be using the wheels during this build. I am going with a different look, not so low! I am going to be building it more for speed (not just straight-but corners), I was thinking of using a 91 front end, but I like the older (pre 1989) style. No one does that style anymore!

Re: Project: home again!
I'll def. get those pics from you. It's a local truck to me, needs a fender and a hood. I think I have him convinced to give it to me for freeeeee. 91k original miles.

Re: Project: home again!
Well, I like the wheels, but when I sold them, my brother didn't take care of them, and curbed one, gave it rash. Not that bad, can be fixed for about 350, (for the set), but Iwant a different look. I want something to show off the brakes (doing a C5 set-up). I might actually use them as road wheels when I go to shows, and change to my show set up OR when I am in town so i dont mess up the new ones. I would love to run a ZR1 wheel set up, but I dont want to run spacers, I hear horror stories about them. I wanted to originally go that direction. Maybe the Camaro SS wheels from SLP that have correct back spacing, but they com ein silver, I want polished or chrome
(sets off red better) |
