Re: 4-Door Love project pics
If you look closely at the pics you can see 4 bolts through the front of the notch. It doesn't seem like much but it's actually pretty strong. There's actually another piece of 3/4" MDF between the back of the seat and the front of the notch cover. That makes it about an inch and a half thick. The back of the seat is almost vertical so there won't be a ton of weight pressing against the back of the seat even if someone's sitting in it. Eventually there will be more once I start building the structure for the amps and sub.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
hey man do you by chance know if those rear crossmembers are the same distance from the axle in a 2 door 1st gen blazer. cuz i am wanting to do the same setup as you did and i am wanting to know if your measurements would be the same on a 2 door as well. thanks man

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
I'm pretty sure a 2dr is slightly different. Not sure by how much off the top of my head. We put the custom crossmember close to where the stock one was. The new one just has a better surface to mount tabs to and the driveshaft tunnel is a lot taller.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
oh yeah they are different dramatically.lol. i just went outside in the snow and looked and measured and the crossmember(factory one) is like 10-15 inches from the axle and it half way up the slant part that heads up to the notch. i think i am going to order the same lengths as you and then just put the xmember where need be....hell minitrucking means custom not stock.lol. i dont know what i will actually do yet. i am trying to see if they will send it to me as an universal kit instead of a fixed kit

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
I'd build the crossmember then take measurments. I'd hate to see you order the links then find out something could have been better. My 4-link takes up quite a bit of room but I have an extra 6" or so of truck to bury it under. I can name about a half dozen small things I wish we did a little different. Take your time figuring out your setup on your Blazer and you'll appreciate it later.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
Haha. Paint probably won't happen till summer. As far as the interior goes, I'm making real good progress on the rear bench. Just have some small trim pieces to make. Unfortunatly I blew my intake manifold gasket on my 2nd gen today so that kind of side tracked the 1st gen work.

I should have pics of the finished rear seat up this weekend. Maybe even tomorrow. Just want to finish the trim work so it doesn't look half assed.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
i also dont have to worry about the back seat cuz i aint keeping it... i am building a raised back floor in it with sheet metal when i get it all done so i have plenty of room to mess with
did you have to move some fuel lines out of the way when you put that new crossmember in cuz i saw that there is some there and i was wandering what you did with them. Last edited by dailydragger7 : 01-17-2008 at 01:38 AM. |

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
I just custom bent all new brake lines because the other ones were falling apart. Then the fuel line runs inside the framerail till it hits the custom crossmember. After that it goes over top the crossmember and runs along the side of the framerail on the inside.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
I've been working on this for a couple weeks now in my spare time. I was looking online and found a local auto parts place selling a set of seats from a Cadillac CTS-V. The back seat was about 3" too wide so I had to cut the foam down to make it fit. The frame that held everything together wouldn't work at all with the wheel tubs getting in the way. It took a TON of cutting and modifying to get it to fit right. I think they turned out good though. Super comfortable too. They sit a little high but there's not much I can do about that with the 4-link. I'll take it all apart this weekend and restretch the leather to get it to fit a little better. Then I'll get it all screwed into place.
The front seats are going to be a whole other challenge. Wish me luck... ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Mystic_Knight : 01-18-2008 at 01:17 AM. |

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
Ya, I have the fronts too. They're going to be a lot of work to get them to fit right though. Don't expect anything real soon. I might just put them in there with the center console I have to take a pic and mock things up again.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
Ya, I can probably take another inch out of the height if I want. I would just take a little more work. Right now you can sit on the center of the seat over the 4-link and it's actually kinda comfortable. If I took another inch off the padding it might be a little hard. Maybe I'll just roll with it this way for the summer and if people complain I'll work on it later.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
I tossed 1 of the fronts in to see how they fit. I also put the SRX center console I got in there. Keep in mind this is just thrown in. The stock seatbelts haven't even been removed. It gives you a good idea of what it'll look like though. 200% better and much more comfortable. SEXY

Re: 4-Door Love project pics
Factory buckles will be gone. B-pillar will be glassed to fill the belt notch. The seat will be bolted to the floor with grade-8 bolts and fender washers so the CTS-V belts are functional and safe. How much of the seat will function will depend on how I e |
