[Project] GreyScale - Shaved, Bagged, and V8'd 4-door 1st Gen

Figured I'd throw a few pics up now that the 1st gen's taking shape. Should be rolling in primer to ITB in August. Puting in a lot of long nights to get it done! Let me know what you guys think.

A few details:
1991 GMC Jimmy 4-Door
Tons of new sheetmetal
Frame and underbody coated in Rust Bullet
Handles, tails, antenna, etc shaved
Custom LED lighting
SB 350 Conversion
Eagle Alloy 212 18/20 combo
SD Triangulated 4-link, RE7's on all 4 corners

More to come... http://www.OaktownTrucks.com

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

That' looks real good man.. Congrats on the hard work. Did you find that your replacment panels where a good gauge of steel?? Where did you get them from?? I love the 4 door layed out. I just bought a 94 4 dr, and plan on dropping it, just not that low,, just a 5/5 or 5/6 it's my winter basher.. haha.. Keep up the good work, I want to see more.

Looks awesome, I love four door first gens. What are your plans for the interior? Any specs on that small block?

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

Thanks guys. I've actually been on the forum for a long time. Just don't post much.

The small block isn't anything too crazy. Built for dependability more than anything. Mild cam, Edelbrock intake, Demon 625 carb, and Patriot headers.

We got the panels from a local place called Shermans. http://www.shermanparts.com/ . It's nice living near the Motor City!

Body drop??? Not any time soon. I'm so anxious to drive this thing there's no way I'm doing anything else right now. Maybe later though...

Most of what's been done has been done with the help of a lot of friends. Major thanks goes out to Pooch @ Kinetik Kustomz. Once it's rolling and painted I'll be able to start designing the interior. I have a lot of ideas but can't make up my mind on anything till I can sit in it and really get a feel for where I want everything.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

I live in the Motor City,, so when you are done with that thing.. PM me here, and we need to meet up so I can see that thing in person.. haha.. Plus thanks for the link to Shermans,, I have a 94 2wd 4dr and I will be hitting them up for some parts.. I don't have but a little bit of rust, so it should be cool.. Good luck with the truck,, I love it..

By the way, what city do you live in around the D?? I see your in Oaktown..

Jay

I'll be getting the rear 4-Link setup from SD this week. It's just mocked up right now so we could start cutting out the floorpan and getting it ready for the suspension. I try to keep the pics up to date on the Oaktown site under the Media section.

I live in Ferndale. You on the Oaktown Forum? If not you should hit it and introduce yourself. We're alway looking for other minis and we have a particular fondness for S-series trucks if you haven't noticed.

Better plan on notching the frame. Ive tried everything I could think of and my 92 4door bumps the axle against the frame like crazy with anything over 3" rear drop, and thats without any interior.

Take a look at picture #6. See the 6" notch? The notch is the least of my concerns. We're removing a vast majority of the floorpan under the rear seat and we've removed the driveshaft tunnel from the back of the front seats back. The major thing getting in the way is the frame crossmember that sits below the rear seat. When it's aired out the driveshaft will hit it. It's being completly removed and replaced by a custom built one made of square tubing.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

If you read my entire post you would have noticed that I quoted badaSS98 and was replying to the post that he made about dropping his 94 on a 5/5 or 5/6, which has nothing to do with your bagged blazer. I can see your pics and the frame notch is very obvious. Nice blazer btw. Wish i had the extra cash to lay mine out.

Oh, Dur... I'm dumb. I'm working an ass load of hours right now (helps pay for the project) but it means I don't get on S10Forum until like 1am a lot of times. Sorry man, my bad. Yes, a 5/5 will require a notch. Either that or you can just weld the axle to the frame.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

Yup,, I had to notch the frame.. I did a 5/6 this past weekend. Should have done angled blocks I think though.. I have a slight driveline vibration.. But it looks sweet.. Wish I had a camera to take pics.. haha

Mystic I will definitley hit that site up.. Good lookn' out..

Started painting the firewall and core support on Thursday. I'll take some pics this week. The trans and engine should be going in for the final time this week too.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's slowly but surely getting getting it together. There's paint on the core support and firewall now. The engine and trans went in last night and we got the front brakes on. I'll try to get some pics of it in the next day or two once we get the headers on and stuff. Still shooting to have it at ITB. It's going to be close though. We'll be working every night till ITB to get it done.

Shut up or I'll have to start making fun of your tiny little cylinder.

The color is a Ford grey used on their larger cars (Grand Marquis, etc).
