Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

Got the truck cleaned up but missed the show n shine. Woke up this morning and let the dog out and noticed she was peeing blood. She comes before car shows so I had to take her to emergency. Turns out to be a bad urinary tract infection. Turns out she has cushings disease, it's the cause of the infection and her thinning hair. I just figured she was getting old. Poor dog. She got her first ride in the big dodge though lol, she likes the power sliding rear window. Just gonna go give the truck a quick wash and take some pics. I tinted my rear windows at 1am last night. I was so looking forward to the show today. Gonna put it in one next weekend though. I'll post pics in a bit

My dog is feeling much better today Poor old girl. Sory for delay in the pic. Damn photobucket and those videos they insist on playing while you upload made my computer crash yesterday and I didn't have time to boot it back up and start over. So here's the pics finally!

No more smashed up side!

One of the bars off the support. I haven't glued it back up yet lol. The bumper is the same bumper, was running out of time to make my custom one. I have the 98+ bumper cut apart and I'm going to hit the jy for another pre 98 bumper to use for the project. I just really wanted it back together lol.

Lol I was just really good at picking lighting to make my paint look good. It was nasty, low gloss, and the old decals had etched DEEP into the paint. Actually took priming and sanding it twice to get the decal and pinstriping imprints to dissapear. The paint was also checking pretty bad. Plus now, no more rusted rockers and cab corner

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

haha yea, I'm going to let the paint get good and cured in the sun for a month or so then once summer is over it'll get full wetsand and polish to make the paint smooth as glass. Not a project I'm looking forward to but sooooo worth the outcome. Then it will get stored in a shop

Good job on the hood too. Fit looks good. There is nothing like being able to drive it after something like that eh? Get that first ding out of the way and then all will be good.

The hood was a bit of a bastard to get to fit. Took a lot of shaving the fiberglass and boreing out the hood bolt holes. But it's pretty damn close now. As close as fiberglass can be I guess haha.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

Still deciding on what to do with the hood insert. Wether to paint the one it has flat black so it's less noticable or to try to build a billet insert.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

I'm leaning towards blacking it out. It looks kind of gawdy with the silver in it as it is so I'm thinking billet wouldn't look any better. The hood is functional.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

Oh yea it's like two completely different trucks. It hugely needs exhaust work now, looks like it should have some sort of throaty sound to it but no. Same quiet 4.3 stock exhaust note. Might cut the cat out for now, I think it's a bit plugged up anyays. When I put the v8 in it I'm going totally custom exhaust with true duels and an x-pipe to even out the tone. Should sound sexy then.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

Flowmaster has a stainless 40 series now for only $15 more than the steel version. I now your wanting to run a true dual setup but I personally would go with a 3" single factory style exhaust with 2.5" down pipes. Or for the duals you could do 2.5" all the way back with a X or H pipe and 2 of Magnaflows 4" round mufflers. What's your plan for tailpipes/tips?

the tails will angle down at each side similar to how the single does now but with less of it showing.

Exactly, something not visible. The truck sits too low to have them sticking out too much and I don't want to put them out the rollpan. I like it nice and clean.

I always had a clean idea for it to exit out the roll pan though. Basically like the exhaust on your Dodge. Cut out half circles and make a nice style line around them with some 2.5" rolled slant cut tips.

You could always side exit right behind the tire in the wheel well. I have seen it done right and I have seen it done horribly wong, but it can look good if done right.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

I would go with a Magnaflow muffler. I've been running with a Flowmaster 40 for the past 8 years and switched recently and it sounds and runs better. Mags are straight through where as the Flows tend to create a little back pressure in the system with their chamber designs.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

You get the wrong Magnaflow and it will sound like poop. My buddy have a 67 c10 with a 400 horse 355. It has a full stainless Magnaflow dual exhaust and Headman ceramic headers. If you see it you'd think it's gonna shake the ground when he starts it but it don't. It's pretty quiet and the tone just isn't right. The truck is still bad ass though.
