Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

So mad. Got the cab of my truck all ready for primer, completely sanded and masked. I go into our paint mixing room to mix up some primer and the stupid distributor came yesterday and forgot to order primer, so we have NONE. I was so pissed off. Now I'll have to wait until he brings some on Monday. But I wanted to start prepping it Monday so this sets me back yet another day. GRRR

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

I got a kick out of this on my dodge. It's an added option to have a usb plug in the upper glove box mounted at the very back here for an ipod.

My truck as you can see didn't come with it. I figured there must be a way to plug one into the back of the stereo since the stereos are all the same. So I pulled the lower glove box to see if I have access and look what I found.

It's taped up to the harness up there. I plugged my ipod cable in with my ipod and it works Why must auto manufacturers make things seem so hard... lol

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

I'll try and remember tomorrow. Been a little stressed out today, been letting my mom drive my stealth and it blew a solid power steering line. The only way to buy the line is to buy the whole steering rack or have one made which isn't much cheaper than the whole thing. So not happy about that. At least my shiney painted bed made me happy. I'll get pics tomorrow.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

Yep, well she lent it to her friend last thursday which pissed me off. Not her car to lend out. Then we were waiting for her friend to show up out at the horse stable with it and I see my poor car ripping down the gravel road at mach 10. I never take the dirt at more than 30-40kph. She gets out all giddy, "wow that was fun I took that dirt road way faster than I do in my crv!! I was doing like 120!!" I was like yea I bet my brand new konig wheels enjoyed it as well... I looked at my mom and said "no more than 30 on the way back or you can kiss your car priveleges goodbye." She knew as soon as we saw my car coming down the road that I was going to be uber pissed. And funny now something is broken....

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

It's been a great car before. Never leaves me anywhere, now she gets to work 8kms away and back and the power steering has to be refilled. A rack is $300 new so I think I'm just going to repalce it so I don't have to worry about it.

Wow, makes me glad that the only thing my mom broke when borrowing my S10 was the cancel for the left turn signal quit working. But she did take a guy out once when her car was in the shop.

Thats why i made sure my s10 was a manual. Same for my dad and his mustang. My mom and sister don't know how to drive stick. so they cant drive our cars. Because we meticulously take care of our cars. and they ****ing destroy them lol.

Send her a bill for the broken rack. The damage was most likely caused by her reckless driving.

I wanted to beat them both. I'm 5 hours into the steering rack replacement and I'm only just getting it out. Pain in the freaking ASS! So glad the dodge has warranty for the next 5 years.

Ah yes I forgot pics lol. Here's the bed painted.

And today we painted the roof and the back of the cab.

Finally brought my 98+ bumper to work so I can start cutting and welding it to make my hybrid bumper. Oh and I decided to keep the signals in the new bumper.

Thanks There's a bit of a wave in the rollpan where we welded it to the box. I don't think you'll see it when it's on the truck since it's so low.

I like this idea.

Finished getting the rack in today. Had to go buy new tie rod ends. But no more leak and I did a damn good job centering it and aligning it.

Gotta love the look of fresh wet black paint Glad you got the Stealth's steering issues straightened out, I still think you should send your mom's friend a bill for the repairs for about $100/hr plus parts...

That sounds like a great idea as well. Especially for saying that it turned out to be a gash in the line where the mount holds it in. Bet she took a hell of a bump and jarred the poor thing. On the bright side the steering is tighter now.

No haven't had time to work on it. Driving me nuts having it sit at work. Been riding the bike instead. The ram has sat in the driveway completely clean and shiney all weekend. Been deciding what to do with the seats in the truck in the meantime. Not sure if I should get some expensive custom fit covers for them or get them reapolstered.

Re: Project Girl with Wrenches

Yea the price on them doesn't bug me so much if they fit well. I'm not going to pay 700 for covers that look sloppy and wrinkle.

Frustrating news. Got my patch all welded into the tailgate for the handle relocator. When welding notice a bit of bondo in the reman'd gate at the end of where we ground it down for the handle. Decided to grind out their bondo so we could make sure it wasn't shody repair... Well good thing we did, the center of the gate was previously completely buckles and rather than pull the basketball sized dent before repairing it. The idiots filled it with over 1/2" thick layer of bondo. I got the gate for free so I'm not out money but now I need to get another gate and remake another patch for it. So mad. Had a damn good patch too.

For bare metal , epoxy primer , then high build primer followed by a primer sealer if needed .
