Project: Gay little white truck
I bought the truck back in late January and startd working on it a couple months ago. It is a 4 cylinder 5 speed with 206k miles and has a 5/6 drop done by the last owner and has zq8 wheels. I haven't made a whole lot of progress because I've been busy. My plans are to do all the body work and fix all the rust and then paint it most likely not white again. Then i plan on doing either a 6.0 swap or a free 350 swap lol. Ok here's some pics of the progress I've made so far.

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
Yeah I was thinking I'll prolly go with the avs ones I just wasn't sure if it was worth it but I like the shaved handles so I will prolly do that but I'm saving for the roll pan first.... And thanks on the cab corner it took about 5 hours, most of which was fitting it up because I wanted it really tight for the weld, and it really didn't take a lot of bondo to straighten it out it went pretty smooth that was the only panel that needed replaced that u can visibly see I'm hoping not to hit any other ones when I'm fixing the other dings and stuff though... I'm going to try and get the cab straightened and primed this weekend too I'll post more pics if I get it

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
My buddy had to upload pics for me I use my phone and don't have Internet at my apartment yet but basically I was going to start and just do one bed side this weekend... Well I got carried away lol. Right when I started grinding on the lower box side I found bondo aparently the trucks been in a wreck before the lower box and cab corner still have dents I'll just have to redo that and there's a lot of dings in the truck as u can see... I borrowed my buddies nail welder it's a harbor freight one and works just as well as our snap on one at work pretty sad lol. I decided since I have to primer the whole truck for the dents it'd be a good time to make my own filler plates and weld them in over my door handles... I don't have poppers yet so I rigged a wire out the bottom of the door it works for the temporary purpose it's being used for and there's a pick of my large amount of clearance going into the garage lol

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
Has anyone used these avs bear claw latches door popper combo? http://www.avsontheweb.com/product.p...cat=579&page=1
If I'm not mistaken most people go with these? http://www.avsontheweb.com/product.p...137&bestseller I was just curious cuz my driver side latch is kind of worn and thinking of spending the extra 20 bucks or whatever and wondering if anyones used them and how they worked and if there any harder to install? Thanks for any input

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
I got my driver door dynaglassed and bondo'd I forgot to take a picture of the dyna glass but it's under there lol... I bondo'd a bigger section then u might think u have to but I had a lot of little dings there and if u try to fix them all separately it'll be one big wave and no one wants that so I had to brake out the long board to sand today and I fixed one random dent on the bed because I had some extra bondo when I mixed it up and no ones likes to be wasteful. I might have got more done but I had to cut my buddy's u bolts and help him a little on his bravada he lowered at my house today too... That's who uploads my pics for me... I've got my other door ready for dyna glass and I'm going to have to take the bondo out a little farther on that door there's even more dents and dings in that one but it's better then a wavy door... I'm pretty happy with how it's all coming out for my first shaved door handles and all.

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
I don't know if anyone would be interested but I still have that tonneau cover that came on my truck it needs a new handle but it's 25 bucks at a truck place here locally and I'd be willing to give the thing away if someone came and got it it's in my parents back yard and my dad loves his yard so he's getting impatient about it lol...

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
Thanks for the link I checked it out that's a nice truck... So I went to the garage today with every intention of at least getting my driver door finished and I had to stop and go get some more 36 grit sand paper, Like sanding with gravel, and completly lost motivation after that and just watched/ assisted my buddy do his end links and rip his e brake off because it decided to lock up on him on his bravada. So I didn't make much progress I still have one small low spot in the top right corner of the door and I got the passenger door dyna glassed I'll take pictures tomorrow I'm goin to work on it after I do my u joints in my drive shaft on the cummins and put my front drive shaft back in so I'll update with pics again tomorrow... I know the pics are kind of boring yet but this is the most interesting part to me personally to see it take it's shape... Sorry bought the long post here guess I felt like talking lol

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
I got the bondo all shaped out right now and got the door sanded and feathered out ready for some poly. I put a yard stick up there to show it's nice and straight I got the dyna glass on the passenger door I usually just grind the dyna glass down because it's so hard to sand even if u get on it right away so that first thin coat will get ground down for sure then I'll get to that door she's coming along nicely I got a dent on the box fixed too I mixed up extra bondo so I just decided to fix one of the other ones that needed bondo'd too

Haven't done much to the s10 I've been paintin a house in my free time for some extra money hoping to get moving on it this weekend again though

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
its been quite a while i got side tracked and broke my thumb putting a lift on a jeep so I had to put the s10 on hold for a while which was fine cuz it was like 100 degrees everyday for a while... but ive been back working on it for a while and its just about ready for primer... now for the pics
All sanded and ready for poly: ![]() DSC01044 by mattmac2007, on Flickr ![]() DSC01047 by mattmac2007, on Flickr ![]() DSC01045 by mattmac2007, on Flickr ![]() DSC01048 by mattmac2007, on Flickr The cab corner and lower box side had pre-existing bondo that I ground out and redid. ![]() DSC01046 by mattmac2007, on Flickr The drivers door needs one more skim coat of poly and it's done. ![]() DSC01043 by mattmac2007, on Flickr Passenger door still needs some work. ![]() DSC01049 by mattmac2007, on Flickr Starting to poly the passenger side of the bed. ![]() DSC01065 by mattmac2007, on Flickr Passenger side all in poly. ![]() DSC01066 by mattmac2007, on Flickr ![]() DSC01078 by mattmac2007, on Flickr Drivers side in poly. ![]() DSC01079 by mattmac2007, on Flickr Top half of the drivers side of the bed all sanded. ![]() DSC01081 by mattmac2007, on Flickr Top half of the passenger side is sanded but still has a few low spots. ![]() DSC01080 by mattmac2007, on Flickr ![]() DSC01082 by mattmac2007, on Flickr The passenger side of the bed is nice and straight now. ![]() DSC01085 by mattmac2007, on Flickr The back side of the drivers door was a little low so i skim coated it again. So just need to sand it again and it should be done. ![]() DSC01086 by mattmac2007, on Flickr I was looking at my paint code today and I told my buddy Matt that he had to remember it and he noticed it had a ZQ8 rpo code that's pretty exciting. ![]() DSC01083 by mattmac2007, on Flickr I wanted to poly prime the whole truck to get it as straight as I possibly can. I want to have it in primer within next couple weeks. They recommend going over that primer with a good high build primer so that will be the next step after the poly primer. Here's a pic of the poly primer. ![]() DSC01090 by mattmac2007, on Flickr sorry about the long post and a million pictures but people usually like pictures... i think lol... but im going to attempt to have it in primer in two weeks or so i dont get to work on it that often i have my kid a lot so im limited to nights on certain days but im going to reprime the truck in white after its all blocked out even though you dont actually have to prime over this poly primer. i also ordered my door poppers this week so those will be going in very soon also. thanks for looking guys any comments or even criticism is welcomed... the truck was pretty dented and dinged up just trying to bring it back to life lol |

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
I think your making great progress on the truck and I like the fact that you are using very good products and doing the work they way it is suppose to be done. I do body work on the side from time to time and its amazing how many do it with cheap products and just plain sloppy. Good luck on the project and your doing great!

I had to order more poly what was left of mine isn't enough to go over that passenger door one final time so I have to wait till it comes in on Wednesday to get back out there but I'm hoping primer during next week or that weekend so it's getting to the exciting point lol thanks for the positive words the truck won't be a show stopper but I'm hoping it will turn some heads there's not a lot of nice s10s around here

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
Haha nice that's what I'm saying it'd go a lot faster if my air compressor wasn't such a pansy lol I have to stop a lot and wait for it I can't believe it still works at all lol.... I still can't believe no ones noticed or said anything about the Crx or trans am in the back round of the pics yet usually people observe those things well lol

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
The Crx is my brothers it's got a b16 and was turboed then he blew the head gasket and has really taken his sweet time getting it going it's sat for two years now I believe lol it's got a full cage and all set up for auto cross it was pretty nice... The trans am is my dads it's an 80 turbo pace car 4.9 turbo he just got all new interior going go in this winter it was restored a few years ago I actually love that car I'm not entirely sure why though. It's pretty rare and everyone loves it lol. I stole my moms parking spot for my truck she's starting to get impatient though. On Wednesday I'll take a couple pics of the trans am for you lol

Re: Project: Gay little white truck
I thought it looked like a Turbo T/A from the wheels. From all I have seen, those turbo 301's are interesting, but tricky to make more than stock power.
