Re: {Project} Finish it already Kenny

See Brian, you're on the same page as me.

If I save the (for conversation sake) $2,000 on getting the Novas over the wheels pictured, that is $2,000 I can use to buy ALL my motor parts, everything needed to get it running, and be that much closer to go time. Is the Nova a good looking wheel? Certainly...

Will everybody have them soon? Yes, but that's okay. I can then save up to buy what I really want, whether it be Intros, Bonspeeds, etc. I sold my Intros to another member, he should be posting as soon as the weather gets nice, it's a nice truck and the Intros will really help the look of it.

I like the idea. The Novas are great looking rims. If you can sell them in a year or two they'll still be popular enough to get some of your money back.

The auctioneer was an idiot. MAYBE the very first ZR1 that was built by hand had paint that cost that much, but it's a factory option color now, they would never use that expensive of stuff.
If I recall hearing, the paint that was 60,000 a gallon was just for the coating on top of the roof panel. Its just to prevent the carbon fiber roof panel from fading, which was happening with regular clear coat.

Re: {Project} Finish it already Kenny

the firewall is... it's cut. It's cut pretty cleanly, with a nice clean edge but there's not much of it left. I just got back from the place where the truck is now, got some wheels mounted on the back, took a handful of photos that I will be posting in about a half an hour or so, so you'll see.

I cannot get the body mount holes to line up with the mounts by myself, I had to take them all out and drop the front of the frame so we could have room to work on the firewall, in doing that, I think the frame moved forward about a 1/4" or so, not a BIG deal, but I cannot move it by myself. Kyle will probably have to do the same, so I will talk to him about just leaving them out until it's all done. I am assuming they have a lift, and if not, they have more than me trying to move a body around.

He is bringing a set of 20's for the front, so once those are on it will roll into the trailer, and be gone for a while. I am looking forward to this GREATLY!

Here's the depressed blazer as it sits right now, so lonely haha:

Firewall Photos:

As you can see, it's cut, and cut quite a bit. Kyle will have a bit of work ahead of him, and I'll have a pretty hefty bill, but it needs to be done!

im not positive on this, but i looked that color up awhile back in the ppg computer where i used to work and it was a tricoat. although theres possibly a two stage version of it as well. alot of paint companies make a two stage version of a tricoat for edging purposes and such, but thats just a heads up, tricoats= mucho denero. cant wait to see it done, that color is so badass!!!

That's really not that bad and no where near as bad as what t takes to seal up the back after tubbing it.

If it's a Tri-coat then it'll be up to my painter. If he doesnt want to do tricoat I will have him do the electron blue because we've already checked on that one, we know it's a two stage.

The firewall is not THAT bad but I cannot fix it, somebody with experience should be able to whip it out in no time I'd think.

Re: {Project} Finish it already Kenny

i've been looking for a wheel that resembled that most of today. There are quite a few, but none of them for our trucks. HP racing makes one for the camaro, which is our bolt pattern but the offset must be entirely different. I could run a spacer, but i have no idea what size. The wheel you posted seems it would need a spacer too. it is one inch wider and has 2 inches more backspace.

meh, i dont feel like showing off, those wheels wouldn't let anybody compete as far as style points go.

I will find something, something different and something spiffy. If I have to use a little spacer so be it.

no everything inside the cab was done well. it look nice, it's all welded for the most part and seam sealed where it needed some attention. The firewall is the only place it was hacked, because a different shop did it.

me too man! me too. hopefully soon. I am finding some wheels, but those will be kept a secret for now. The first photo will get done, but maybe not right away. Right now I am going to try to get it driving with the least out of pocket expenses.

$4,000 on a set of wheels/tires isn't the least out of pocket approach! haha

Good news! Kyle has a truck he can use, he plans on coming to get it friday.

bad news! (because with this truck, it's always there). He needs a motor to make the firewall around (DUH). I don't have one, looks like another postponed project. ****in a.

Re: {Project} Finish it already Kenny

Yeah Keegan, I paid a shop decent money (1200 bucks cash) to do a firewall for me, and it LOOKED okay at first glance, when we started working on it, it was an absolute joke. It was pretty much held in with the seam sealer, it was tacked in about two spots, and then filler smeared all over the piece that was put into place.

It was an absolute joke. Kyle will fix it, he says he has a small block that he can potentially use for mock up purposes, so it will get done.

I would... but it would end up being a big PITA, I paid him cash, with no receipt. My own stupid fault, i trusted somebody and they screwed me over. Luckily I've got some good people that seem to really want to help, and some progress should be made for sure.

Friday he is coming to get it, so soon after that I am sure you'd see something.

well it's 3:00 now, i guess Kyle tried to call me earlier to let me know that the brakes weren't working on the trailer.

Supposedly they are leaving right now, so it shouldn't be TOO long. I hope haha.

It's gone, all loaded up on the trailer, everything went smooth for once. I am sure it's now in their shop, I didn't take any photos, I forgot. I have to head out that way tomorrow and talk over the "to do" list with Kyle, after that, it's in his hands for updates.
