Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
Yeah they are. And that was my reasoning for wanting to change them all was the fact that I'll already be in there, on one side at least. But, it's not a big deal to me and if I can get away with $200 right now vs. $1500+ then I will. Besides, extra money can go towards an Edge Evolution CTS which can monitor the injector balance rates and other things, plus more power..haha.

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
most diesels dont need bigger injectors most diesels that you see that are dumping black smoke are still using stock injectors and are running a tuner basically on a diesel you just add more fuel and boost for more power just some ppl go overboard and thats when they start screwin stuff up. personally id stay away from any tuner that requires you to add xtra sensors to the vehicle especially banks and black maxx those kinds of tuners are usually pretty agressive and hard on engines

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
I would only doing the edge on a moderate level, not trying to blow my shit up. So I would only be adding an egt probe, maybe do a fuel rail pressure gauge as well. Also, I had thought about doing 50hp injector nozzles as well and the truck will be more fuel efficient from what I've read. But i'll have to wait til I'm a baller for that.

Me either.
![]() Put the 22s back on the truck today, fired it up and let it run for a while. Fixed a couple air leaks and had to fix some switches in the switchbox. F*cker fired right up and ran great, I don't wanna sell it. I would've taken it out for a cruise but I'm awaiting glow plugs from rock auto for the dually and can't start it. ![]() ![]()

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
I don't know anything about Black Maxx, but Banks...I'd trust that shit all day long. They know what they are doing. The tuners change the advance on the injections, period of injections, and on electronically controlled wastegates they can change the boost you see. These tuners are just fine when used in moderation, any of them, really. Just don't run on race mode and rod the piss out of it everywhere you go. Banks makes kits so that you aren't rolling coal out the tailpipe, you are just wasting money then. But a simple intake, exhaust, and a tuner will do any basic diesel owner just fine, they won't blow up anything that really doesn't come down to driving style and driver. As for this truck...I love it, it's awesome! Made me think about building one lol only I want to go the other way. I'd start with a manual 350 truck and then just transplant, but hey, it'd work! What is the difference in suspension from the 454SS trucks vs the regular half ton? |

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
I just ordered the edge evolution cts and full downpipe back 4" MBRP exhaust with black miter cut stacks for the dually, and my 4 new injectors will be here Tuesday. Can't wait.
Thanks, I don't think there's a suspension difference except maybe stiffer front springs. I believe it has 3/4 ton brakes though. |

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
As for the 454 I have no idea lol I was looking at spindle lifts, and it was always "does not fit 454SS" so I'd assume something is different there. It might be the springs. |

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
Well that told me what I needed to know lol Thanks man, I was surfing that site last week but didn't find that lol I also got to into looking at the trucks, I love the interiors in them lol I hate that dash, but the seats look comfy, I like the 95-2000 variant interior better myself.

Yeah I plan on a 95+ dash and door panels, the stock seats were definitely comfy but I love cavalier seats.

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
My driveway isn't any better lol
I love the 95+ dashes, and Cavi seats are ok, but I really love that era of chevy truck seats as well, in fact I stole Dad's 95 Chevy 1500 today just because I wanted the comfy seats to ride in to get ball joints pressed in lol And my driveway doesn't look any better lol |

Haha. Yeah the seats are comfy but they're ugly as hell IMO. I have a 96 Sierra and it has a blue interior haha...so ugly.

I did the most common cam the 454SS guys run, edelbrock 2162. What I really need to do is get off my ass and hook my fuel pressure gauge fiitting up and put a fuel pressure gauge on it. I can't expect a solution or any help if I can't even help myself really haha.

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
yeah i know how that is sean. i wanna get the truck ready to be painted but still need to finsh shaving the 3rd brake light and also need to finsh the front bumper because it still has a few area's im not happy with, but to do that i need money for more filler and fiberglass. plus now ive decided im shaving the door handles instead of color matching them. hope to see you out at that show by your house tomorrow

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
Just curious...
Your axle is narrowed AND your bedsides are pulled/flared, right? But you're looking to put a new bed on it with straight bedsides? What kind of a gap is there between the wheel and the bedside as it sits right now? |

Re: [Project] Doored 454 (NOT an s10)
Im keeping this bed and fixing the sides, using the floor out of the other bed. I know the gaps huge, but the tire has 1/8" of clearance from hitting the top of the bedside, that's the whole problem. If I get some tires with slight stretch I could push the wheels out a little. The panhard bar doesn't help either since it pulls the wheel over so far, a watts link would be sweet some day.
