Then Craigslist happened

It's okay. At least that one doesn't look too bad. I hate toppers but I had to have one in college since I have a lot of crap.

Re: [Project] Clean Start

some day light pics, leveled out the ass end.

these wholes are on both sides, from Antenna mounts for a CB:

an then the 7 holes on the leading edge of the roof.

There are some other chips and what not in it, but over all its still in good condition. Unsure about keeping the rack and lights though, I like them but they are so obtrusive. If i could find a way to replace them with slim LED's to light a campsite or what not that would be nice.

Re: [Project] Clean Start

I like the lights on there and the cage. Not the prettiest stuff out there, but should be good in function. As long as you don't park in a garage or low clearance areas, it shouldn't be an issue.

We don't have to worry about him ripping the garage door off or ripping the roof rack off. They cant park in the garage cause its full of stuff, lol.

Re: [Project] Clean Start

Magnet tested the front diff, Thinking it was Iron because it has all the right stuff ( 5speed 4.3l) Turns out it isn't. Now I feel less unsure about swapping in a 3.73 diff. hopefully i can find one that isn't beat to shit, then a matching rear. found a guy locally that is SAS his blazer and selling the front and rear diffs( 98 blazer) I may get a hold of him and see if he would toss in the spindles and brakes. The rear is disc so would be nice to have DP calipers up front too. 150 each for those, might be able to swing it this coming paycheck.

Haven't decided if I'm going to keep the lights on the topper either, but i did hook the side ones up for shits and giggles ( also have an H§ LED bulb coming to try out).

Doesn't really light up a large area, if i do keep them im going to swap them ou tfor some wide angle work lights.

Re: [Project] Clean Start

Reworked the wiring in the bed today, and flushed my coolant as well as lowered the Spar back down.

Pic from the rear, it's not the prettiest wireing but for the space it will do. The black box, now houses the Relays as well as acting as a power distro center.

Pin switch for the Interior light when i get one to put in .

Re: [Project] Clean Start

I take it I had a good idea then......cause you stole mine. That even looks like the same size black box that I bought.

Wiring looks as good as just about anything the toppers manufacturer would have done if they had wired it.

Your's is alot fancier than mine, I don't have a board with everything layed out neatly, couldn't do it because my relays are too tall. so its just a place to hold everything to make it look neater. this way there are 2 wires comming into the topper, a Main power and a 3-16 coated wire for the switch power. everything else is in the box.

edit this box is 8x4x3 or something like that

Re: [Project] Clean Start

The girl and I just got back from our weekend camping trip. had a few nice little drives while we were out. Stayed in Leadville Friday and Saturday nights, spent the day saturday driving over Hagerman Pass. not a challenging drive, but fun.

Eisenhower tunnel, took us 2 hrs to get to this point from Denver, someone put their Rig in the ditch on the other side.

View from atop the stone near our site.

Tent is in the middle of the pic.

A few from the drive up the Pass.

At the Continental Divide atop the pass.

And down the other side.

Then we drove to Basalt, and through to Aspen, then Over Independence pass( fun corners on that one).

Part of Independence Pass

Got back to our site around 8pm, got a fire going and ate dinner.
packed all our things today, then headed home. Stopped at Lookout Mountain along the way.

Random Hitchhiker we picked up

Over all we covered 477 miles, used 26 Gallons of Fuel, covered altitudes ranging from 6k -11,925 ft. Averaging 18.9MPG.

and Not one mechanical issue the whole time.

Re: [Project] Clean Start

So how do u like your zq8 box in comparison with your old 4x4 one?

Can u link me to where u got yours?

I guess I was wrong about buying them locally. I went to go get one, even though all the parts stores claim to have them, they dont. At least not in Utah...
