Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Made it to and from Carlisle 100% no problems! Started on my dash again, getting the bezel all glassed up for the guages and radio and smoothing it all out. Also decided Im going to keep the 95-97 bezel since I like the more squared off look by the guages as opposed to the 94 one, especially since Im doing all autometer guages. Pics tomorrow left my camera at my girls house

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Oh yea its all glassed up now and legit just needs some sanding and it will be good to go. Just need to fix my damn shifter, need to bend it a little. Is this possible or do I need to like releif cut it bend it and reweld it. If thats the case Ill powder coat it!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

i was lookin at the shifter when we drove your truck over by mine and judds, and if you do make a relief cut and bend it down a bit it would work. but you'd have to have it re-coated. and then, like you said, you could powder coat it. so that would probably be the best plan of action.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

sweet. only thing i might have changed was the mounting area for the radio/gauges, have that sit flush with the front of the bezel. that's just me, but it still turned out clean

haha glad you like it man and thanks for the motivation That was the point of having not sit flush, so it gave it more of a factory look. Not really a fan of these bezels all smoothed out. Not to mention makes it different. Wait till you guys see what I have in store for a color scheme on the inside cant wait! Ill give you a call tomorrow Mikey, maybe you can bring it to tri county tomorrow if your going.

Oh yea if anyone has a set of 95-97 blazer seats and wants to trade for cavy seats let me know! Must be in good condition, no rips tears, etc.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

good/bad news. good news is that the bezel fits perfect and I very satisfied with how everything came out. bad news is around teh steering column it flexed and the body filler racked. Need to make some supports now to eliminate any twist.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Finally got some new pics before I tear it all down over the winter. You can see all the rewiring I did and if you look on the back fo the cab you can see the plugs I made to plug the frame into the cab so now when I go to swap the cab I can just unplug it instead of re running all the wires again. Im also going to get bulkheads for the guage airlines so I can plug and unplug those from the cab as well.

Dont mind the hack job on the driveshaft tunnel, this cab is getting junked once I finish the bodywork on my new cab.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Lots of patience. I trimmed like 4 or 5 inches off the front of it, and heated the sides and pushed them to fit the curves of the body. Also modified the door panels to accept a wider dash. Theres some pics of what I did in here I believe. Also made all custom brackets. I will get a pic of the brackets as the dash is out now.

Good news got a lot done today, body completely off frame now!!! Finally can start tearing into this now, just need to get another job, got that disease funds-r-low

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Hopefully it will, Mikey was telling me 18s were a bit of a challenge to get under a first gen with a SBC. Heres some pics from the tear down the other day. The rusted cab mounts are what made me decide to go ahead and body drop it. I have to replace the mounts so why not replace them a few inches lower lol. Then I just need to do everything else for the SFBD. Should be a nice project for the winter.

Pic of my hitch ball bracket that will now most likely get replaced or modified

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

wow. there is no meat left on those body mounts. that's crazy.

if you wanna swing by and check out my engine bay just gimmie a call. the biggest thing with 20's and a V8 is when it's layed out. my uppers come awfully close to the headers on the drivers side. so like i've said, if your gonna do 20's the overall diameter of the tire can't be much more than what i have with my 18's. so gimmie a call and come over and i'll go over the whole process i had to go to for the swap and the BD.
