Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
Got new 70 series tires and they just kiss the firewall so Im going to see if I can bang it back a bit since we are going to tub it anyway. Looking to do somemore to the truck tomorrow like shorten the one coolant hose, add some type of interior light, hook up the lights in the gauges b/c it sucks not being able to see them at night! Also checking all the fluid levels, possibly upgrading the headlight wiring to prep for the HIDs as well as run for the aux lights which are built into the new lights I have. They are this teal/blue color now but I will be putting LED bulbs in them to change that, not sure what color yet though. May try to get a radio in there but since I cant lock it probably wont keep it in just wire it and all that. Im sure theres some other little stuff but this will keep me busy until I get my dash and I can start fitting that into here as well.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
haha I was going to bomb the whole truck but I kinda like it like this. Being into the whole euro thing as well its kind of a style I am used to. I also heard that spray bombing parts you are looking to get painted in the end is bad and costs more to prep for final paint in the end. I wanna throw some more money into this thing but I gotta pay some people back first or at least start to. I want to start glassing my interior soon too!
EDIT: Here are some pics of the interior so far. I will get some updated pics tomorrow, got some work done on the panels as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will also get some pics of the brackets and some other small details when I pull the dash out to glass it if anyone is interested. Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
Yea I did, going to be stripping the vinyl off leaving the foam behind, tried it on a scrap piece and it worked great! Then I will just lay mat down with some resin just so I dont take anychances with the climate change (high 90s in summer and low teens in the winter) Cracking the vinyl underneath and ruining the finish in the end. It will take a bit longer to do but will be worth it IMO. The door panels are going to be a PITA when I get pics of them for you guys you will see what Im talking about!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
you should get a 94 dash bezel for that dash it will fit around your column correctly then.
looks cool always like to see a first gen getting some attention. |

Will the 94 bezel be a problem if I was to use the gauges from the 95 dash. I am looking to use them in this application as well

Yes the gauge clusters are the same mounting and outline. Like said above the column is round since there was no air bag.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
nice, now all I need to do is find a 94 or just mod mine lol. I ****ed up the gauges tonight and Im pissed. I took the headrests of my cavy seats I got (for free btw!) and I threw them into this box not knowing I moved the new cluster into that box and I made a small crack in the corner of the plastic cover...

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
well brian drove around like that all last summer. just make sure all the reverse lights and brake lights work!!!! the only thing they might get ya on is either the plate in the back window with no license plate light for night time driving. or no rear fenders, just cause it's ya run a greater chance of kickin a rock up at someone. but i don't think there's a specific rule that says you HAVE to have rear fenders.

New grill I got for free! They were going to cut this first gen up at the fire house and I snatched this grill before they destroyed it. Not the best shape and I need to relocate the lights but for mock up its perfect!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
What size tire was on the truck when you bagged it in the shop? I'm trying to lay the front of my jimmy out and I want to keep my A/C stuff. I'm going to run a tire 24" or shorter so I can retain inner fenders but I was wondering what size you had on the truck being that i have those same wheels on my jimmy (gmc center caps). I'm thinking of running a 205/50 or 205/55 R15....

Nice. Old school look with the hood painting. I remember back in the early 90s when guys rolled around with Looney Toons charecters airbrushed on the gate and hood.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
Small update for you guys, got my cavilier seats fully bolted in finally, had to drill a hole for the inner seat tracks. vacuumed all teh dirt out and finally got my door sills off, screws were stripped but salvagable thankfully! Still trying to work things out with the crappy 1157 socket I have works when it wants too. Added a fuel guage as well and moved teh guages up under my radio. Doesnt seem like a whole lot but just doing those simple little things made me happy haha. Also took some pics with my boys LT1 caprice Ill get them up here whenever he decides to upload them.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
Did some work on the interior and got some decals made by my buddy for me. Decided I was going to use the first gen door panels as opposed to cutting and fitting the 2nd gen ones. I cut them and everything but I dont feel like being bothered relocating the door handles back a few inches and I think they look better with this dash anyway. So I cut the front out so it would clear the dash and my friend and I will be glassing it tomorrow hopefully. Also relocated the plate under the tailgate on the right side instead of in the window.

Havn't had any problems so far aside form that damn exhaust leak and leaky rear. Just did the oil on it not too long ago. Ran into Scotty today he was looking at your welds and was impressed and glad to see you two helped me get into minis again. Just waiting on my check should have another 200 for ya!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy
Niiice yea I have been toying with caddy tails trying to decide if I should do them or not. I got a new bed btw for like 100 bucks. I went down and the guy said if you take it off you can have it for 100 I was like no problem lol. It has one small rot hole over the rear wheel opening the size of a pencil eraser and the rear bed rail is shot but the one on my bed is good. Also the crossmembers are a bit rotted but I figured we could just replate when the time comes ya know?
