Project: Built 2 Envy

Well here it is guys and girls, my 1989 std cab short box s10. Bought it from a guy for 500 bucks wayy out east and have been waiting and wating to tear into it. Upon buying the truck I picked up the last few pieces for the air ride so we were good to go. Friday night we moved it to my friends shop and ripped into it!

Got a lot done IMO, I had the interior pulled the week before and started strippping the gate, the bodyline on the bed was all bondoed in We stripped the whole truck down and got the front pretty much all tied up in just 2 days. Still need to notch for the tierods and all that but we are moving quickly on it, looking to have the front laid out tomorrow!

BTW its a 2.5 stick with leaky power steering pump and rear end lol

Here are the pics, they go in from start to its current state.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

the cap is actually off my buddies 2nd gen, just using it to make a little shed to protect all the parts from the elements. Small update today, grinded the passenger front of the frame down and Judd got teh other pocket cut and mounted everything up. Im going to go later tonight after work and grind the rest of the drivers side dow and maybe start grinding the rear of the frame too if time permits. Looking to have the front laid out by Wed. so look for updates soon!

Well huge update tonight, went over to get started and I walk in and see the front laid out on the skid plate! Finished grinding the front and painted it, and grinded down what is going to be salvaged from the rear as the 5 link set up is going in soon as well. Heres some pics!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

No notches yet as I dont have the final rims I am going to use, tie rods clear just fine on the stockers. As far as shocks go, they may be added in teh future, I got to see how the front rides without them first. Starting on the rear friday I believe so check back!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Huge update for you guys! Got a lot done over the last two weekends. Installed the notch and got most of SD 5 Link set up in using Slam RE8's. Just need to install the struts. Truck lays out front to back now and we just need to notch a tiny bit for the tie rods since they are just touching the frame.

Lookin to do a SFBD in the futre but I want to fix all the rust/rot first. Looking to get the rockers and cab corners soon and the doors I already have. I also need a new bed beore we start as well, want to do everything in one shot. Also the air management for now will be mounted in the bed, but when it is finished we are doing a raisedbed floor and everything will be hidden under it, not really a fan of having everything showing.

For now here it is layd out in all its glory! Got some more odds and ends to do as well but suspension is at least done!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

what....no pics of my beautiful welds?!?!?!?! lol

you might want to add driveshaft tunnel to the "to do" list also. me and judd noticed it sat. night when we layed the truck out that the driveshaft just kisses the back of the cab. we can "massage" it to clear the stockers easily but if you get those 20's on there it'll have to get notched for sure. and it'll definitely get notched when it gets BD'd.

Yea its definetely getting BD, going to be a stock floor, just need to get all the rust/rot taken care of first. Not to mention Judd needs his garage back soon so once his truck is back and we get it ready for spring then we will start the plans to sfbd mine.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

The plan for tomorrow is redo the wiring for the valves and switches, reground the fuel pump (not turning on), tie rod notches, brake lines, paint the back half of the frame, cut the fenders to clear the tire, and Im sure a but of other little things. Looking to have it complete by tomorrow, at least suspension wise.

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Some new pics from past weekend till tonight! Got a lot done today on it. Regrounded the fuel pump and truck started right up, redid the wiring for the air setup, cut the fenders, installed the new front clip, got the hood on, got the bed on for good, made new brackets for the rear brake lines and got them all connect, taillights reinstalled, mounted some of the airline and wiring up away from the exhaust, painted the back half all one color, tightened everything up and greased everything. Lots of little bullshit but it needed to be done. We were aiming to have everything done tongiht but Judd didnt get the pipe to finish the tierod notches and do the drivers side brakeline. Let me know what you think! Dont mind Judd he got ahlold of the camera and got a little photo happy

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

for now it is going to stay as is. I want to take this spring/summer to get the body work and everythign else done. I was debating on bodydropping it or not. If I was dragging and I ****ed up my paint or worse, the body, I would be pissed. Im thinknof just laying frame on 22s and calling it a day. Have to see how I like driving it as it is though haha im sure Ill want to go lower!

Re: Project: Built 2 Envy

Well finally got it home and got some more work done to it since. Pulled out the HVAC system, installed my water traps (not pictured), got rid of most of the leaks (still got 2 small ones), put the cluster back in and cleaned up the wiring a bit. Keep in mind the bed set up and the wires/line all in the interior are temporary until I get my new bed and decided exactly where everything will be mounted. Also got insurance for it and its getting registered first thing tomorrow morning!

lookin good ricky!!!!

i think it would look pretty sweet with a 1st gen blazer rear bumper.
don't forget to get an alignment too, or you're gonna blow right through those fronts in no time.

haha yea going to get new tires since they are shot and an alignment. Also need to trim the rear bed over the wheels since it lays on the tires when aired out. Also I added my water traps too and they are all sealed!
