Re: Project: Brava-dime
Is the dash fiberglass pod performing any function other than holding the gauges?
Looks like there is enough air volume to run some down firing 10"s or some 8"s. If you are covering it in cloth, recess the front stage ........ or mold in some compression horns at the very front. They will look like defrosters and sound awesome. |

LEADSLED2020 slappy.... this dash is going to look awesome.... Whats the 12yr old daughter think of this one? ![]() for some crazy reason the whole family likes the color green. "the dash is a much better inprovement aswell", she said BIGJSP Is the dash fiberglass pod performing any function other than holding the gauges? Looks like there is enough air volume to run some down firing 10"s or some 8"s. If you are covering it in cloth, recess the front stage ........ or mold in some compression horns at the very front. They will look like defrosters and sound awesome. negative, i had a rediculous system in my other truck, this time its just a few mids/highs....... INNIS wow that dash looks awesome, the othr one was good too, but i like this version much much better thanks man, i think im slowing down alittle and getting better ideas this way ORANGESONOMA dash looks like it is going to need some major work...but didnt you do the same thing in your last truck? its definately not doin me any favors. i did get another layer on the upper portion but again,. its cold and took 4ever to "cure". thats a winter project i guess. i did more of a total-build fully curved with the stereo and air guages in the center oval, and the cluster was fiberglassed into my headliner. this is built using the factory dash portion that bolts to the windshield area and bottom mounts, alittle more "practicle", id say...... imma need all the vewing pleasure i can get with this tug-boat, the less distractions, the better........ a few pics of the most recent progress, i blew the whole outfor the column and was insanely pleased with the outcome. there is realisticly no way to get an exact measurement from the mounting point transferred to the curved dash. took my alittle while and a few lines drawn but it matches the colunm plastic perfect. imma roll with it. still needs another coat and the smoothing progress can begin. this is gonna be the last of the updates for alittle while, have some other things that need attention and priorities take center stage........ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
Since I'm not building another big mini truck I'll share ideas that I didn't have room in mine for but you could use because of the rea doors and I'm guessing another 18" of interior space over mine.
If you made the front seat a reversible bench where the back could flop forward, you could fit at least 4 comfortably for a party area in the rear. To make the truck even more unique, center up the steering wheel on the guage pod, then the driver has perfect audio. |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
UPDATE:
started the bodywork, it may be foolish to be doin body work at this stage but i need to keep busy and the more i do now, the less later, right? was able to pry MY check from my wifes hands and buy some body filler. this is gonna take aloooong time. have the 4 doors, hood, fenders (smoothing the tubs and inner pieces) and roof to make pertyful. all with a hand sander (to knock down the high spots) and a few sanding pads. im trying to get my buddy over to help me with this part, i feel im good enough but hes a whiz and i could use his expertise................. still have some sanding before i call it a day, wifes draggin me to that 3-d valentine movie 2nite so i hope these will clearify this build aint dead............... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
you really shouldn't lay body filler over paint, you have pretty good chance of it not adhearing to the surface that way which means cracks and peeling in the future. Just a word of advice

Re: Project: Brava-dime
kandel123 - so what are you going todo about rear glass on the door
im going to get with a hotrod/custom place in the future and see what they can do. until then i plan on runnin it without or possibly making a wooden curved form and heat gunnin a lexan piece til then. glass 100% in the end. dude1 - alright since its cold. if i were you id wait atleast a week or even a month before thinking of paint incase the bondo would want to shrink im no where near thinking of paint. if it sees paint before late summer id be pretty damn amazed truthfully. V8Blaze - im pretty sure its not to cold where he is lol, check out his location at night its gettin about 40 outside, daytimes are an unusual 75-ish...... 91S10BlownSBC - you really shouldn't lay body filler over paint, you have pretty good chance of it not adhearing to the surface that way which means cracks and peeling in the future. Just a word of advice i know it appears im slingin it over paint but remember, about 2/3 to 3/4 will be sanded off and the remains will be over raw steel, no primer or paint. i learned that the hard way years ago, completely sucked come paint time... |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
soo....... still sanding but i did get the front "driver" door all dunn and white primed. the 2 rear doors are gonna take a "mega" long-block and i know my buddy has one, just gonna have to wait to finish those up. also got the roof pretty close but again need that long-block.
i did have a question for all the fine peeps, i sent my buddy the red chopped pic (the one in my sig) and he sent me a message back saying he has 3 gallons of red just collecting dust. my original sceme was gonna be an "olive" green but i have the chance to get 3 gallons of red for peanuts................ what do you guys think? would it resemble Daves flat-red longbed x-cab too much? |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
Did you have any signature graphics on previous vehicles you've built? How much will the green on the dash clash as graphics on the red.? My trucks graphics are the 3rd vehicle for the scallops fading into lightning bolts and really helped to stretch my limo truck out and make it appear longer and lower than it really is. |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
Is it a flat red?
I would do red with a 2 tone titanium silver on top with a white pinstripe or olive green one. Then on the side spray bomb "NOT DAVE'S!!!!!" I know poeple would get mixxed up, but your gona have a totally different front end and stuff. Paint it how you wish, not cause others are gona think its someone elses truck. |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
UPDATE: after 3 days of "on and off" sanding between work and kids, i got the rear "super" doors 97.4% done. almost lost my damn mind sanding and finding more high/low spots .also got my drivers door all buttoned up. shaved the handle and mirror smooth. after i finished it up i noticed the little 3/16" holes from the damn bravada body kit at the bottom so i have to fill those but its a small task compared to the rear doors. hopefully the other side will be done next and the roof can follow, then the inner fender tubs and hood finishing, whoo hoo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

SlamBlackSdimeWhat are using for paint after the bodywork, actual spray or rattle can? I want to start my bodywork but I only have spray can , dont know how to spray and dont want to leave the filler exposed.
i have a few cans of flat/primer rattle for the body work. i know its not for ever and it will get sanded off but i use it to see how good/bad the body work is. my eye isnt super and the solid color helps me find high/low spots after i think i have it all good. just some mid priced stuff, i wont use a cheap spray for this cause i dont want any kind of weird reaction later. maybe im wrong. 95extendedcabposi have a front frame horn if you need it its cut about 6 inches or so after the trans mounts no shit? 2nd gen? you looking for cash or a freebee? i aint wanting to sound like a cheap bitch but this month i had $50 only and that was for body filler. people who owe me aint quite paying up and im not a pushy kinda guy. definaly let me know what your intentions are, thank you!!!! |
