Re: Project: Brava-dime

im gettin the welds knocked down on the doors, roof and other odds and inns and trying to get another s-10 bodied on 22"s dunn. the scenerio is this:

the green truck=A is getting bodied on 22"s
the white doner truck=B is donating the front frame for truck "A"
my brava-dime will use the frame from truck=A
...so i cannot get my frame started until truck "A" gets dunn and cab etc gets transferred over to new frame......
and i love the bewbies guys, thanks for sharing/being patient with my progress............. and to tide youz guys over:

Re: Project: Brava-dime

UPDATE:
finally got all the roofs welds and doors welds completed and knocked down and gonna have my buddy do his "heat and shrink" with his torch and cold rag to get sum of the bad warpage out and then use his stud gun and slide hammer to help keep the body filler to a minimum. was able to get the clutch pedal finalized with roundbar for alittle more strenth. got the radiator recessed into the core support as well as the firewall wire "port" rewelded in its new location. alot of little things but then again, little things make big results in the end. also below are the new rear bumper, FREEBEE from a guy i recently bagged his dime and the only part of the build not white. finally the cavalier intake i got off ebay, $38 shipped..................

i'll be totally honest with you, there is a 04% chance i can get a 2003 silverado 5.3 motor/tranny for this thing BUT in not betting the farm on it. its a local guy who wants to throw in a helping hand and has a wrecked silverado. if that falls through, im putting in a rebuilt 2.2 with a 5 speed. keep in mind its prolly for shows and local rolls outs so im not needing mega horsepower.......

Sweet, thats what i wana do with my truck. Just a clean 2.2, 350 is overrated .

If your just gona run it aroudn town you couydl change the gearing. It woud limit your top end but it would deff help the lil 2.2.

Re: Project: Brava-dime

that would be pretty crazy.. a fwd s10, hell you could have the entire floor pretty much sitting directly on the ground so no loss of space at all, and the old driveshaft tunnel would work for the exhaust. Using a 4x4 front clip would give you your suspension with camber needed to lay a larger wheel and then obviously provide the hubs to connect the half shalfs from the FWD tranny too.

then out back a simple 2 link would work great since there wouldnt be any pinion angle to worry about and simply run a blank piece of tube with cavy type wheel bearing hubs attached so there would be allmost nothing to move in the bed. Hell ya could put the irs setup out of the back of the car there, too and have 4 wheel camber with 4 wheel disk brakes.

Why in the hell hasn't anyone done this yet!? That's an excellent idea, and a different/original one too. I just don't think it'd be very practical on such a long/heavy truck though.... but sick idea none the less!

why not just use the whole front cradle from the grand prix and build your fame off of it...... it already uses a 5 lug pattern and i'm sure you can find or make a mcphereson(sp?)style strut/bag (kinda like a shockwave but a strut instead of a shock)
or even just build your own arms that allow the use of the factory gtp spindle....and hub assy.
c'mon..... lets get creative here.....

well I'm sure that we could design and build something that would get huge lift and still work with front wheel drive......... there are a LOT of suspension GENIUSES on here......

Re: Project: Brava-dime

The biggest problem you would run into with FWD would be the limited range of motion for the CV axles.

BTW, GM did make a FWD S10...it was electric.

yeah, the electric s10's were FWD. the ass end was loaded with batteries that probably weighed 1000 lbs.

FWD woudl be bad ass. You gould get super crasy with your rear setup. I say do it. Wouldn't be hard, just time consuming. <no pun intended>

If it was a factory electric S10, you should've jumped all over it. Most of them were crushed by GM after the leases were up, but a few of them have popped up on ebay and sold for >$20K.

I'll stop derailing the thread now
