i think the paint is just fine.... goes with the theme, but you could do the grille and bumper too....
also a little nicer back seat would look good too......
but all in all it looks tits!

Re: Project: Brava-dime

I love the way that gold/orange (glorange?) looks. The wood paneling would be great, especially if it was real wood paneling.

Definitely an unorthodox project, but at least you're not half-assing it.

that could be done very easily with a good wood veneer and some good glue..... as long as you use a good stain and clearcoat made for wood.... and for the trim around the edges you just need to use a steam gun made for steaming clothes to heat and soften the wood to bend it without breaking it...... a little practice and patience could have this lookin tits in no time.....

Re: Project: Brava-dime

That thing is going to look awesome...haha.

Correct me if I'm wrong...but don't they make a wood textured Vinyl that went on the Woodies from the 70s and what not?...Im not sure how good that would look compared to the real stuff, but it may cost less up front and possibly the long run.

My grandpa had a '80sumthin Caravan with the fake wood on it. Peeled like crazy. I'm voting for real wood, just for that "holy !@#$, that's real mother#$%@ing wood reaction at shows. Just pushes it that extra bit over the top.

since everything on this build is fairly original, id ditch the wood idea, the cover truck of either this months or last months mini trucking had pretty much the same lay out, but on a first gen 2 door blaze

well, since i cannot continue the beds body work until i clean up the horrible inside, i chopped the sh*t out of the bed, removing the fenders and gas filler neck sheetmetal and replaced it with some nice rounded trailer fenders capp'd off and sheet metal sides. still have the front bed portion to weld up so im holdin' off postin any pics til thats all bueno'. have the paint cash on stand by and with any luck will have the supplies by sunday.

Hey, quick question. When you weld your sheetmetal is it with a mig and what are your settings? I am trying to make a plate box and it isn't working to well.

im using a miller 220 and i have the settings on #2 (power output) and the speed on 7. im guessing varioous welders are sum what close....... thats tacking it as far apart as you can and waiting a tad between tacks.

purevil115 -I like the sheetmatal sides and ribbed bottom for some reason
it just adds the finishing touch, the stocks were beat to hell and repairing them wasnt a cost saving investment

sonomaguy -
What guage sheetmetal did you use for the sides? I love the sheetmetal beds ,they look so good.
the trailer fenders "looked" to be 14 guage and i got the same, 14g for the sides and front. i knew it would stand up and not warp while welding like a 16-18 would.

stv-lo -two thumbs up... this truck just keeps getting better and better... ill buy for what you have into it
lemme have my year showing it first man, we can talk about that later,

skavenger -Lovin the truck man keep it comin. My moms got a bonneville lol (better if it were supercharged).
they are not the first car id think of bagged, but this one is pretty bad ass

i cant thank you guys enough for watching and entertaining me with your comments. i really have had a blast building this thing.
alittle side note: i guess you can never quite grasp the power of myspace. my wife was shopping in a local little can food place a few days ago and when she was checking out, the cashier girl was like, "your slappys wife, arent you"? my wife was kinda stunned but said "yes, what did he do"? i guess the girl lives in an appt. complex and some people have been watching the build and she caught on to it and recognized my wife from my friends list.
another: last night at the mall here in town, the guy in the at&t was like "hows the brava-dime coming along"? i was kinda taken back and he said he caught it from a friend of a friend who had been talking about the build and he has been watching it the whole time as well.

Gotta love stuff like this, I remember goin to big local cruise ins and hearing random people yell out drag it slonlow, or just yelling out usernames to get someone attention.

Re: Project: Brava-dime

well, im not a welder by trade and sure not a fabricator but im a dreamer by nature. got the tubs all flapp'd disk'd down and even tho i thought i fully welded the entire "rim' of the bed/sheet metal im now debating,
DOES THIS LOOK GOOD ENOUGH TO ADD FILLER OR SHOULD I GO BACK AND RE-WELD IT SOLID? its not a stress problem nor is it a structure piece, but rather just beauty........... the welds are about 1/8" apart at the furthest
it is strong, just not 100 solidly welded like the fender pieces
