Re: Project: Brava-dime

It looks about the same length as the other guys that are building the crew cab ext cab. you should measure from the firewall to the back of the cab and compare it to the other guys. you still may beable to do something like the crew cab ext cab with the length you have.

B I N G O ! ! ! !

I DO REALIZE THE REAR DOORS ARE BIG AND YOU ALL PRETTY MUCH NAILED IT. I WANT LOOOOONG AND LOW. WITH THE X-CAB IDEA SCRAPPED I STILL WANTED THE LOOK SO I FIGURE ITS THIS OR A STANDARD 4 DOOR CAB REAR DOOR AND HONESTLY THE LOOK IS THEY ARE A 1/2 DOOR. I WANT HUGE HERE

its the infamous 8 foot longbed. im still waiting on the frame metal from my buddies uncle so im tinkering with the body sheetmetal werk til then. im debating on gettin the bed down, cutting the 2" off the bottom off it and laying it all 2gether and seein the madness all in one piece. the problem is i have a semi single car garage and its slowly gettin full of parts/trash/unused pieces from the 2 donors.

rough measurements (and im within 6" either way) its about 20' 5". i'll put it this way, the cab, fenders, bumper etc. is 12' 5" and the bed is 8' plus the bumper should add 4-5"...............
i have meer inches from front of the garage door to the house portion..........

i think the giant rear door is awesome, i agree on the crew cab door looking like a half door too. It looks like the roof is going to be a bitch though

on a side note, any plans for the door handle area of the cut up doors. they would look sweet on my first gen

tell you what, you pay shipping and i can go cut the area out (adding an additional 1" or so all around) and the handle included, shoot me yer name, address, etc. and i can get em' shipped to you, u.p.s. style... lemme know if you wanna contribute to the build. i cannot sell anything on here and i fully respect the forum, its moderators and the all mighty LUNA but i can (i believe) take a nominal donation.
they are all good and can be cut in a few minutes.

and yes sir, the roof is gonna be a bitch

Re: Project: Brava-dime

are you gonna have rear wheel steering that thing will be insanely long. i like where you're going with it. it would be a shame to make it the same dimension as a regular crew cab, no one would notice all the work you're putting into it. i think it will be cool to see one big window in the rear doors vs. the post that's in the regular crew cab rear doors.

Re: Project: Brava-dime

UPDATE:
had a few concerns about the rear door and the body lines not 100% lining up, i cut it all down, pie cut and rewelded it all 2gether. absolutely perfect now vs. yasterdays door welding. have to grind and weld a few areas but its finally there!!.............. now the best news of all!!!!!!
after mocking up the roof and HATING THE LOOK!!!! i decided to hack it all off and go for the look i really wanted. i was at werk all day long debating how to pull it off and when i goit home the grinder came out.
TO ME THIS IS THE BEST MOD I WILL PROBABLY DO THE WHOLE BUILD!!.
i fukkin love the roof and i will find a roof rack to modify and make fit.... im sooo going forthe "national lampoons VACATION look with the roof, hopefully will find some old-ass luggage and tie it on the roof at shows too

BEFORE=

AFTER=

Re: Project: Brava-dime

the roof rack can be easily shortened, we were planning on doin the same thing. It looks like if you just remove one screw and take out the end piece, then cut it and drill a new hole. look at one and youll see what i mean.

oh and looking good

I really like how the ribbed roof is turning out. Not so sure about the luggage rack though. And I'm really looking forward to seeing the rear doors come together. I bet it'd look badass with the rear doors suicided...

im soooo debating on suiciding the rears....... but i dunno if i wanna try and get that kinda weight distributed and hung/swinging as good as they do now. they are swinging like factory door right now, plus budgets now allowing it at this time.
.
and the steak knife was the only thing i could use to slide in between the panels to raise/lower them to line up perfectly, ghetto/gangster all in the same utensil

thats a negative. ive looked, emailed and posted in various places but no one has a solid answer as of yet. i will probably get some lexan when the time arrives and get it all cut/mocked as i need glass, make a curved/contoured wood "mold" to lay it on, then get a heat gun or some other tool to heat it til it takes the shape of the form. then take that to a glass place and see how it can be dunn in glass......... just my idea but thats months down the road

loving the roof ribs, and there are companies that make curved glass, you just might have to save your pennies from my understanding lol. But your lexan idea should work fine for a while tho

Re: Project: Brava-dime

UPDATE:
i had a few hours again to try and get the doors closer to dunn. gettin the body line (to me) will make or break anything dunn to anything. i did get the door tops welded up and have to grind/clean em up and see where i stand there. i think imma take a full day and hit everything with a flap disk when i know im close to being dunn welding everything. i hate stopping to flap, then weld, then flap........ mounted up the waylayed duel booster for shits and giggles, also was able to trade my shaved wiper cowl to a local guy for a blazer roof rack straight across, love the damn roof now.........
