Re: Project: Brava-dime
UPDATE:
to me, in my eyes this is HUGE!! i got the 14guage steel for the floor edge bracing welded in, well at least half of it. didnt want to push it and screw up. this means the floor will be complete in a few days (i hope). the delima i have now is the motor is not in the truck, (due to the head replacement and now needing to rebuild the damn thing) so i cannot locate the tranny x-member. if i weld in a floor i cannot get to the x-member to weld it in. DELIMA!! i'll manage tho, i guess time will tell how i pull that off. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

leadsled2020 - looks awesome slappy.... keep up the good work
will keep it up til i can drive the damn thing!!!! THANK YOU flawd - project looks fresh dope sick rad bro yahtzee yo!! THANK YOU DEBO - I like! i appreciate the comment, im trying like a madman here........ So Low Roller - plexi floor is coming......................... im hoping its comin real quik. i cant weld in the floor until the tranny x-member gets installed and im not to shure about the floor in general. i wanted to use some old barn planks from a local barn that fell down recently BUT the damn scavengers rummaged it to death and its all gone now...... Drag_Racer408 - looks nice slappy, how many inches tall is the area you had to traditional? the frame is 3" tall, the floor skeleton is 1" and i have 1" space in between those two so i can fit the cat. for smog and wut not. really none of it is traditional ( i guess). the floor height is 5" from the ground if that helps. cpolaris502 - Mmm, doors on the ground. i know, its so killer. everytime i have to open a door to climb inside, its like SCCCRRUNNCCHH, SSCRRAAAPEEEE, so damn gnarly sounding. STL_DRGN - looks good slappy! im broke too so your not the only one. ![]() like i stated earlier i have a strict budget of $3,000 from start to finish. so far im just hovering under $1,800 and the biggest things are yet to come i believe, motor work and driveline extension, etc. THANK YOU SIR!!!! 02_NomA - Agreed. x2, i hate money, if its new it cuts your fingers, if its old it stinks..... crows10 - looks real good I cant wait to see that floor hopefully by this weekend i will have something similar to a floor, at least enough to get it movable without flintston'ing it...... UPDATE: i got the other side welded in (no real reason to snap a pic since its a mirror image) so now the motor mock-up for the tranny x-member. maybe thurs or fri (my days off) |

Dragonball98312 - i must say im loving this build. keep the pics flowin, really like the xmember so far too
thank you kind sir. doin my best to keep the ball rollin' flawd project - I'm really curious on how your going to execute the floor ok, the original gameplan was to weld in a sheet of 14 or 16 guage seperated by the driveline tunnel, then over that use some old barn wood planks from a local fallen barn. update: the damn sheetmetal is gonna run approx. $100 and the barn wood has been raped, pillaged and sold for firewood, i guess. that hope is now gone as far as DANGERZONE timeline. STL_DRGN - yeah sweet x member! but when you redid your floor how did you weld the 1x1 to the truck like were on the cab???? its attatched to the backwall of the cab, and the 8' along the sides utilizing the angled pieces welded in (previous pics) and will tie into the firewall as soon as i get the motor in and mock up the tunner over the engine. dngrous_dime - This thing done yet? ![]() that was like a dagger piercing my soul sir....... you are a bad man for that. i cannot build an entire truck in months, i'll leave that to a custom shop . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . well, the floor wont be done in time unless i win the damn lottery, just the price of metal has crept up and i didnt realize it. as far as DANGERZONE, im probably going to get a sheet of 3/4" MDF, router the edges and some designs down the middle areas, then cut it to fit so there is a floor rather than nothing. im sooo depressed but thats the risk taken when deadlines creep up. i did get a price on a drivelive tunnel custom made, it will have the hex look (like the metal bracings i made before) instead of the rounded tunnel. a local metal guy is asking $55 or so for a 8'x7" hexigon made cover. |

sittin_so_low - cant wait to see this outside, im not sure, just wondering what rims/size you'll be running? later
im setting everything up for some color matched stock 15"s with some coker gangster ass white walls. im hoping to get the rear suspoension and front suspension all dialed in and manageable in 2 weeks or less. i have everything, just need to install it all and air it up. will definately post azillion pics when that day comes staylow - Sick Ass Truck. Keep The Good Work Up... much appreciated man, it is always good to hear praise on work!!! dngrous_dime - zomg, I overestimated you? ![]() dont get me wrong, i really love a challenge, always have, always will. i gave myself 1 year to get it running, rolling and showed. doing this right, one time is taking time but keep in mind, i have had it since 11-18 and today is 3-6, thats meer days shy of 4 months. im crushing my personal deadline by far. flawd project - Oh i thought you where still doing the plexi glass it will have 2 seperate pieces of plexi/lexan. im going to weld in a 14 guage floor, lay some wood over that and cut out roughly 48"x17" area just behind the front seats (seperated by the driveline tunnel) which leaves a clear floor for the rear passangers. i only have a 34"x48" piece donated by a killer friend wanting to see if i could pull it off. |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
UPDATE:
well, i found some "fake" wood looking siding stuff at home depot for a damn good mock-up. its exactly what i wanted but not real wood. only half the floor is done since i cant calculate for crap, fell short by about 5'. always another day. the plexi is installed in the pics, just clear and hard to see it. should have the hexigon driveshaft tunnel by friday next week, the rest of the floor hopefully tomorrow, once i paint the floor bracing it will look alot better, and the passengers should have a good time watching the road fly bye ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Pretty cool idea. I like it, but I'm not sure how it will look when you have an exhaust pipe in there too. Maybe you can try to route it next to the inside of the frame rail where it wouldn't be seen under the plexi-glass.

Re: Project: Brava-dime
I've got a plexy dog house covering the second engine in the twin engine truck. I got routed acoss a dusty area at a show one time and cleaning the underside was a royal pain as I had to take the side panels off.
You can't just wipe it off or it will scratch and repeated cleanings over time will haze it faster. I waxed my panels after the dust incident and it seems better at rejecting dust build up. If you are screwing the plexy to the 1x1, over size the mounting holes to allow for expansion or flex or the plexy will crack. |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
Squeek - not really feeling the wood... but that's the only thing
i knew not everyone would see it the same as i do, bear with me on it tho.. phillip7 - Will the faux wood be temporary until you can get the metal to put down. i will remove the wood, then welding in a 14 guage floor, then relay the wood on top of it. i dont want carpet on the floor, it just seems kinda "well, theres my floor". wanted something really weard, like the truck i guess. something the next 45 people dont have in my row at shows...... Kovz - Pretty cool idea. I like it, but I'm not sure how it will look when you have an exhaust pipe in there too. Maybe you can try to route it next to the inside of the frame rail where it wouldn't be seen under the plexi-glass. im hope'ing to wrap the exhaust pipe with that old chopper or hot rod heat wrap to "tone" it down just a tad. it will also have a heat shield over the exhaust and under the plexi. hidden yet there dfisher95 - i'm lovin the plexi...i don't think i've ever seen anything with a plexi floor before... lookin good man. it will get alittle attention, more of a "hey bro, check out the clear f*ck*n floor" kinda vibe..... Wicked Mayhem - theres a ranger? that has a full plexi floor.. looks like a pain in the ass. definately not feeling a wood floor.. seems way to thrown together and unfinished(yes i know you said the stuff on there now is temp, i just dont see the other wood looking any better). i know you like different, so more power to ya. cant wait to see it laid out with a full side view though. the ranger you speak of melted my mind when i saw it. simply insane. i honestly believe the floor will kill about 35% of the people who like (or liked) the truck. its a "definately bad ass" or "why the hell did he" kinda steps.... Drag_Racer408 - Get some really nice wood and then stain it and resin it. Would loo realy good then! ![]() thats kinda the ticket, im going to have the same wood in the bed as i do in the cab. flowing wood for days, like 16' of it only broken by the cab/bed wall SCOTTY - damn there is no stopping you sir i have a grinder, a drill, a welder and a jigsaw. gotta love walmart bigjsp - If you are screwing the plexy to the 1x1, over size the mounting holes to allow for expansion or flex or the plexy will crack. im thinking something like that, even tho its 3/8" thick, its still brittle well, i kinda new people would "fall off" when it came to the floor but........... UPDATE: i got the floor completed just a awhile ago. took me longer to get that sticky ass paper protective film off than it did to cut and install the wood. i know the wood looks "dominating" in the cab but remember, the seats will cover quite a bit and the tranny hump & driveline tunnel will break it up nicely.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Project: Brava-dime
go with a lighter stain, then semi-gloss poly. if you go too dark, itll look like crap. and minwax is the only rand to use.
i make furniture as a hobby. as far as the wood itslf goes, you want a good hardwood. my personal preerence would be either poplar or ash. cypress would look good too. may wanna stay away from pine, as gravel and grit on your shoes will dent it. and make sure to wetsand with 320 between coats of poly. michael |
