FYI They make a set of protected pliers that are for taking off big rig lug nut covers. Might grab a set at a truck shop.

Re: <project> Blad Boys Muscle Cars --shop truck

I got the spikes off ebay there like 20 bucks for 12. so i got 24 gonna order 12 more.

But today I got my tranny painted and flexplate holes are egged out and fit to the converter now. Just waiting for all my bolts for intake, converter and other misc stuff. and 100% sure motor is going in next week. Just been to busy to bring the engine hoist back to the shop lol

and for the pliers i have a set of matco pliers that are for grabbing spark plug wires and such and they have little rubber end on them that pulls them off with ease

engine and trans are in. Tight tight fit, but its in. I have to go back when I go to finished the firewall and cut out a place for the exhaust to go on the pass. side, trim the cross member a bit more for oil pan clearance, and massage the firewall because the driverside head hits it

oil pan wedged up against x member

oil level sensor realll close as well

pass. side

driver side

Nice, I saw you commenting in the guy with the nasty blazers thread, did you see how much he cut his cross member lol? Its scary but seems strong enough with the plating and quality welds he did.

Still looking forward to the dash by the way.

yea i need to do a few things to make it fit better, but i will do all that when i take it back out to paint the firewall. but when it goes back in its not coming back out til next winter. It was a BITCH to get it to fit in there. we said different times it would NOT fit in there but we didnt give up and got it in there somehow.

red scotch bright with prep solvent, then wiped down with lacquer thinner, then as soon as it flashed dry i sprayed everything. Looks pretty good, i may spray it with a flat clear to get rid of some of the shine, but its not to bad lookin for only have a couple hours time and 40 bucks. def quicker then building a dash!

Re: <project> Blad Boys Muscle Cars --shop truck

yea i used the real course red scotch bright with prep solvent to make sure you get every bit of crap that has been put on over the years. Then it will dull out realllll bad then you wipe it down with lacquer and let it dry, i blew everything off with a airhose. Then sprayed red krylon for plastic.

You should get one of those billet grab bars. It would go well with the steering wheel.

Thanks man I appreciate that. Its been some hard work and real hard to stay motivated when building it alone with no help. It would be nice to get 3 or 4 dudes to put a solid 8 hours on the truck but everyone is busy with there own projects. But tomorrow im working on it all day long. gonna finish all the welding on the bed so i can take it off and put it in the body shop garage. Then i can start all my wiring and plumbing. Then next weekend i should have the motor back out to modify some things and paint the firewall. After i get all this done it will be a cake walk

also gonna build my own standalone harness, (not to knock companies that make them) but im not paying 900$ and waiting 2 months for a harness thats just bullshit. Ill spend2 days and 50 bucks making my own then send my ecm to wait4meperformance

What year motor and truck harness are you working with? If it's all OBD II stuff it's really easy to wire. You can find the pin outs all over the net, most of the time for free.

This helped me out a lot on the 5.3 pinouts:

Are you running complete 5.3 truck harness or splicing together the 2 together?

I'd personally splice them together. It only requires the repin of 3 connectors. If you don't have a s10 one, you can buy one from s10warehouse on ebay for like 50 bucks and that includes the BCM and everything minus cluster.

Re: <project> Blad Boys Muscle Cars --shop truck

Im running a stock 5.3 harness just making it a 4 wire hook up and re running it to hide most of the wires and run them through the firewall. The only harness i have left in the truck is the dash harness, that includes the main plug, fuse box, radio, airbags, cig lighter, etc.

On the engine harness im gonna buy my own relays, obd2 port and fuse box and just figure out how to wire it all together, just the dash harness confuses me on what to do with it to be able to get power for turn signals, headlights tailights, windsheild wipers and ignition.

Pic of altnerator and power steering pump mounted

and started my driver side tailights

Re: <project> Blad Boys Muscle Cars --shop truck

Is that little pulley to the left of the alt. going to clear the throttle body and air cleaner?

This thing is really comming together. What do you have in mind to get your blinkers and ect to work? I'm working on my new 96 blazer project and I have a carb'd 350 and I smoothed the firewall and ditched the old 4.3 engine harness and now I'm not quite sure what to do as far as getting power to like you said blinkers, headlights, wipers ect.
