Project: Back Burner

Well I have been on here for over a year now watching reading and learning from everyone. I have been slowly working on my turd, now that I am further along I figured I would make a thread. Everyone bare with me as this is my first ever build, and there have been mistakes and mishaps, but I am getting there, and its been fun. I call it Back Burner because working 6 days a week 10 or 12 hrs a day, and my family.. the turd is always on the back burner!

A little back ground before all the pictures, Its a 99 stand. cab 2.2 5speed turd. The plan when I started was to build this for my oldest son. Of course the more money i put in it the less likely he is to touch it!! lol. I have had this truck since '02 and its been my pride a joy since I bought it. I moved to TX where I have only one friend thats in to the scene as much as me, but he lives like an hour away. Met him on here and he has helped me a ton! Can't thank him enough. Thanks Chris!

here's the list of parts I have:

SD 5link bolt on
SD uppers
de-humped lower with all new ball joints and bushings
SD bolt in cups
Bags: 26's out back 25's up front
8-Danz 1/2 valves
all 1/2 lines
2 Viair dual needles and 1 single
3 pillar pod
AVS ARC-7 black
2- Viair 444C comps
all SMC fittings
2 SMC water traps
8 gallon 8 port
20" KMC Nova's Bought them when they first came out, but now everyone has them! not sure what I'm gonna do with them yet

On with the pictures now:

the man cave I built

First day we pushed the truck in the shop

Wondering what I'm doing

Day I met Chris/ drove an hour to help a stranger!

De humpin the lowers

Dog in the way, but checkin it all out

Phil Starting to smooth the frame

Got the shock bar on, between me and you I almost forgot the damn thing

Getting ready to figure out how to paint!

This is the 3rd and last time I re-painted it!! I know now painting is not my thing

Gas tank back on, shocks painted the color the truck will be, battery box built(thanks Chris)

Front painted, just rolled on not sprayed

Figuring out the bed?

I will post more after I eat! please let me know what you guys think so far, not the best but there is more progress in a bit

Re: Project: Back Burner

Here's is another, it worked real well u put the terminal in the" V" and hit the top with a hammer and it crimps it with no problem, this may be something everyone knows about but i thought it was cool[IMG][/IMG]

Re: Project: Back Burner

Worked on the mini all day, finally got the tank back from the painter, and finished painting the UCA. Decided to hook everything up and test all the valves and fitting for leaks and proper working order etc... Everything worked pretty damn good, which surprised me since it was my first time doing any of it. One of my valves is leaking from the valve body not sure whats up there, and I have a leak on one other fitting.

I did notice that the front won't lift off the ground unless there is more than 80psi in the tank.... Is this normal or what? Seems I have read on here that you guys are lifting the front with a lot less air than that. The back lifts fine. Is there something I'm missing? other than that when there is 120psi in the tank the front tires come off the ground when I air it up. Any insight would be great, I will post some pics up tomorrow of all the work I put in today!! I am pretty damn excited other wise, working on this thing alone is a bummer at times.

Re: Project: Back Burner

got a question for you guys, UI have my thoughts but before I go through all the trouble I wana ask.

I put my valves on the inside of the frame rails on both sides thought it was a good central and easy to get to place etc..... I was puttin my exhaust back on and noticed the pipe is pretty close to the whole setup basically on the pass side.

Anyone running there valves this way? or any thoughts?

Why not just put the 4 valves for the front in the rear with the other 4?

Re: Project: Back Burner

Well They are already under the doors..... but there is no reason why I did or didn't put them in the back with the others.... I do know I don't want to move them because everything is ran and done basically.

If anything I would move them to the outside of the frame like I should have done, but just didn't really think about it.... It's my first bagged vehicle... you know how that goes

Re: Project: Back Burner

So a bit of an update..... got all the fluids changed and re-did my valves under my doors, got all the exhaust work done, and finally got tires for my NOVAS..... 245/35/20 Toyo Extenza. pretty nice tire IMO.

Let me know what you all think.
