project: a different 1/4 mile (not an s10)
(add pics of crappy car here)
car: chevy land yacht objective: -turn p.o.s. car into bumper bashing 8 cylinder enduro racer for the local 1/4 mile oval. -WIN deadline: -practice on 4/21 + 4/28 -first race on 5/6 budget: $1500 mods: -strip interior -remove side and rear glass -remove trim/molding,lights,etc. -add 5 point harness, etc. -go over EVERYTHING -paint in this class the car must remain stock. no changes to engine, tranny, suspention, etc. oh, and there are no cautions so the race quickly turns into a 100 lap demo derby . i hoping to pick up a tow dolly in the next day or two, and the car on saturday. order my parts tomorrow after i get my paycheck and tear into it. should be an intersting build. |

here in mn some enduros they throw all cars in at once besides full size trucks and vans, and its a WET WET clay track, only real think we cant do is reinforce the bumpers and move the rad,

Re: project: a different 1/4 mile (not an s10)
so im getting this line of crap from the toyota dealership i bought the car at. yes dealership, they got it on a trade in. i know ive never bought a car from a dealership but i dont think i need to get a car inspected before they give me the title. the manager sold me the car and even he didnt know that till just now, yah right.
helmit was on backorder. ![]() on a good note i got my belt, battery killswitch, steel gusets (for belt mount), and fire jacket from summit. i also got some pipe to mount the sholder belts just as the rules request. ![]() budget: $1500 -$618 (car) -$29 (steel) -$70 (belts) -$54 (fire jacket) -$29 (battery killswitch) $700 left still need to get a helmit, and a tow dolly. i just might be able to make it to practice this weekend, but probibly not. still have 2.5 weeks till first race. |

![]() finally got it home yesterday. sucks towing that beast with a manual but i didnt stall it . scary thing was trying to stop it without power brakes or trailer brakes. i definitly need to never tow with that truck again.good thing i waited to pull the glass cuz its raining today. i need to get torx bits and and something to cover it with budget: $1500 -$618 (car) -$29 (steel) -$70 (belts) -$54 (fire jacket) -$29 (battery killswitch) -$45 (tow dolly rental) $655 left |

Re: project: a different 1/4 mile (not an s10)
My friend Dominic wins a ton of enduro's every year at Riverhead
73 to 77 Monte Cutlass or Grand Prix's are getting real hard to come by I ran one enduro with an 83 Delta 88 I made 4 1/2 laps forgot to flare trans lines where they were spliced together popped a line in a turn slammed on the brakes and some how I ended up slamming into the wall in middle of the straightaway My old man ran Blunderbust for 4 seasons with a 72 electra 455 ended up top 5 over all points almost every year Steel bumpers would have been a major plus Make sure you save the foam padding from the rear seat .Duct tape it to your drivers side doors and add a little padding to your steering wheel. What ever you do don't forget to disconnect the airbags Some steel flat stock running from the roof to the bottom the windshield is a good idea to Less chance of a loose tire or some crap off another car shattering a windshield in your face Amazon has DOT full helmets for under $40 shipped Good luck man |

Re: project: a different 1/4 mile (not an s10)
the rear seat was nasty i threw it out, got some scrap foam from my uncles upolstery shop tho. interior of this car was so nasty i dont now how i didnt get sick.
just picked up some goodies at a car show. like a ryobi 4.5 inch grinder (with 2 wheels) for $12, a temp gauge for $10, and some other stuff. gona wire the temp gauge to the tranny so i dont cook it. ya gota love swap meets. |
