OK its like this there is this guy with a truck in a barn somewhere. Well this guy we will call him Justin was looking for a tilt steering column because his truck is so ****ing low you cant shift without a tilt wheel. Well this guy named poncho knew that the truck was being built and knew that he needed a column plus Justin has a friend named Travis that has a three link that poncho needs for a frame, and Travis has to come up to pick up seats from a guy that lives by poncho named lee. so poncho was thinking that if he had a tilt column in his junk pile that Travis could take it to lee, no wait Justin. but then Kris busted in with his shit and there is a guy named Bryan involved and all that shit. you strait now?

Re: Project: 7" Deep 56K beware..

widened wheel tubs..obviously just tacked in for now...I dont like doing a lot welding around the motor, rims and tires, etc...once cab is pulled everything will be fully welded of course..

started patching in where the wheel tubs went into the old side vents...what a pita...

got the back of this all welded up along with fixing the big gap that i had back there from my slight miscalculation lol..

you can also see the new column too there and the hole in the firewall where it will go once the rest of my steering stuff is here..

thank you sir..i was going to run a pedal set up out of a 240...but ive decided to make my own custom one off pedal assembly...after i reinforce the steering brace (steering column mount is basically temporary using a modified factory piece) im going to start on the pedals..oh, and my head will finally be back from the machine shop thank god lol...i cant wait to see it..rest of my gaskets have been ordered too so motor can go together this weekend as well ...

Re: Project: 7" Deep 56K beware..

i actually ditched the gear box and the steering rack and swapped in a manual rack and pinion from a geo metro lol...all I had to do was flip it over and mount it...sounds easier than it was to do because mounting it was a bitch...room was at a premium due to the front sump so I kind wish that the mounts were fancier but their just wasnt much room to do anything else..in that last pic i posted, you can see the boots for it through the core support..

Re: Project: 7" Deep 56K beware..

so today was a day of ups and downs...

1.The ups-My engine gaskets and oil pan all came...bung was welded on fuel cell...and i got a new lincoln 180 from lowes for 250 bux because they must have marked the price wrong

2. The Downs...went to the machine shop and one of my cam shafts was magically broken and no one knows how it happened...however, because i didnt get them out of the box when i brought them i cant argue that they werent because i didnt show them to him first...although i swear i looked at them when i got them ...so a new one is on the way...

...and i made the supports for my steering column...and im building an entire pedal assembly from scratch now...yay..

I really shouldnt anticipate anything ever being normal on this truck lol...i cant even put my 7" booster and master on the firewall cause there just isnt room even if i recess it, which would have to be at least 4"...so now everything is going under the dash...it will look nice but dammit lol..

i was going to run a manual brake setup...but then i decided that with all of the metal i have in this thing plus 400hp and disc brakes all around that having power brakes isn't a bad choice lol..
