I would go with option A also. maybe its just bc im right handed and it would make more sense and looks better imo.

I actually intended on going with B but now i'm not sure, I do like both. i don't want it to look too crowded by the radio with the accuair switchbox there and barely any room between.

Yeah it does look pretty good there but i still think i like having it on the left side of the steering wheel. Keeps it in the drivers area in a way. lol

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

You might get in a friends s10 and reach towards option A or option B and see which is more comfortable for you.

Yeah i could do that. I think the headlight switch is a better location in my opinion so it will probably go there.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Option A looks a little better but from experience Id go with option b simply bc I don't like giving the passanger the ability to hit a switch.

so you are actually hard mounting it to the dash?? OR are you plannig on glassing a hole for it to sit in and you can take it in and out?

Lol, ever had problems with crazy passengers hitting switches?

And i would like to have it where i could take it out but i'm not sure how i could do it to where it would come out easily.
Unless i was to do it like the guys that put the ipads in the dash's and they're able to slide them in through a slot.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

fiberglass this in the dash and place 2 velcro strips on the back of the controller, one above the rear connector and one below the rear connector. that way it wont fall out and this will contour around the controller so it looks nice and factory.
http://www.dorbritzdesigns.com/2011/...k5mk6-eos.html

That's a little pricey ($55) but it would be pretty easy to make one from fiberglass. just wrap the controller in foil and fiberglass the back and sides to get this effect, let it harden and peel the foil off. The fiberglass wont stick to the foil. I'll prob end up doing something like that to mine but my controller won't be in the dash.

Idk if you've got one of those vaccume sealer thingys for food but I made a mold of my old xm receiver using that. Works pretty good. Just vaccume seal the part then glass over it. Little easier than foil but you might not have one lol.

Lol, yeah i know. I went out and did some work, kinda looked at stuff that needs to be done and went inside. Hate to sound like a pussy but i can't breathe worth a crap, haha. allergies seem to be killing me for the first time in my life.

One thing i'm pondering about is how i'm gonna put the filler plates in where the area behind the seat is, it's gonna be really tight trying to weld up that gap.

I'll be able to do it, but does anyone have a pic they could help me out with.

thanks, Blake

Lol, I wish i could have done that. For some reason i would go outside to work and it would really kick my ass. I felt like my nose wouldn't work. haha.

Picked up some tires today. Gonna have 2 sets of wheels for it so i can ride out how ever i want to. Also finished up the rear wall to floor area today on both sides. Real sturdy now although i want to weld up the new seam i made from the bottom side too.

What color should i do the steelies? i'm going to make them wide whites, probably bright red, but that is typical. any thoughts? I'm not a fan of the GMC dog dish caps for now. maybe i'll change when they're all one color. I want some spider caps and maybe thin trim rings.

Trim rings not snapped on here since they're a pain in the ass to get back off.

New engine My dad bought it in Alabama from a kid that ran the hell out of the motor while it was messed up it and then tried to force it to roll start it down a hill after it locked up. Block had 3 holes in it, oil pan had 2 holes from the rod.
I put the engine in it and then we had it painted. It has 99-04 Mint condition Charcoal interior (complete swap)

Just looked for pics and didn't see any. I guess i'll take some later. To much pollen out now, and rain. lol.

Thanks man.

Been kinda slow working on it, I don't want to get burnt out on working on it so i'm kinda just working at a slow pace. Got all the hard rubber-ish mat off the floor in the area behind the seat. Thanks to a propane torch it cut down a long job of scraping and hard work to a 30 second clean up the melted doo doo. Now i'm welding in the filler pieces that close the opening on the sides, where the floor meets the rear wall. Not a run filler to weld up with such little space. lol. Also doing the firewall, which seems like after completing with the filler metal it would be a pain and a half to remove the trans.. not sure what to do there, gonna have to think about some things for sure.

Got a thought that i'd like to get some opinions on about being bodied and running a stock hood. I'm not really a fan of trimming down the intake "hat" and making it really shallow, What do you guys think about taking an s10 hood and cutting it down the center line and maybe raising it just a tad to clear the oem air intake piece that most people trim down? I'm not sure if it would be ugly and noticeable or would it look decent since it pretty much keeps the oem hood look. I actually planned on running a Sonoma hood but if i have to cut it all up i'd prefer to find a cowl hood or some other solution.

I think a "reverse" sonoma hood would be dope if it could be pulled off
just has to have rounded edges though IMO and thats where it might suck

Yeah that would be nice, never thought of that. Or an S series "HD" hood. lol, i guess that's about what the Sonoma reverse hood would turn out to be.
I like the hood on the four door blazer that's being redone right now with the new frame. I think its like metallic dark green and it has that taller looking stock hood

I would run one if the front would line up and if it would clear underhood for sure.

If i could find all the hombre parts i might consider swapping but i like the gmc or chevy front end a lot more.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Pics of the Cobra like i said i was gonna get. Still a little dirty but oh well.

Finished up the firewall today, tubs not included. Colby helped me delete the ABS and we about had it wrapped up then the double flare tool decided to break on us. Just gonna pick up a new piece of line and bend it to fit. Will have pics up soon of the progress, here's a couple that i took today randomly.

I cut down my upper cups since they were like 5 inches tall, lol. seems to be fine now.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Thanks man, I was actually considering making them wide white walls, not sure what i'm gonna do. I think i'll like them either way though.

Got some stuff done today. Pretty close to being finished with the passenger side tub besides a few welds and the old blower box hole piece. The second pic is a filler piece i made for a hole where the tub lined up on the side of firewall

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Looking good bro. Can't wait to see it finished. Hopefully mine will be done in the next week or two as well. Getting a heavy duty driveshaft, built tranny, and my 8.5 put in. Got all kinds of shit going on with it right now. Missed the track this weekend though, but Craig took his vette. His times were pretty good considering mods.

Thanks man. Nice times there on those passes for a vette on reg tires. Sucks about third gear though, but hey what do you do about it.. I heard you had the lq4 in the blazer now?

Its close, there's so much going on with it, that I don't want to flood your thread... but needless to say, it'll be a good 2 weeks before I'm dailying it again.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Sounds good. I def wanna see it when you're done. I think i'm about 75% burnt out on working on mine. I keep having these days where i go outside for about 30 min to an hour and get maybe 20 min of work done. I guess i need to wait about a week and see if i can build up some motivation. lol.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

I wanted to clean out some of the garage today and the inside of the cab, so i took it off the stands and rolled it out + washed the inside. First time seeing rockers on the ground = .
