Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Been looking for some 20's ever since i sold my irocs and honestly i can't find anything worth buying.

I've been curious about doing this for a while but i didn't really know what it would take, check this out.

Here is a 2003 Astro / Safari 6x5.5 hub. To me it looks to be the same as a 98+ Blazer hub. Here's a pic of both for reference. Has anyone done this? I haven't seen anything leading up to someone going through with this swap. I have access to a parts store that would let me use the hub but i figured i would ask first. If it's not 100% the same i would say its very close, something a little modification couldn't fix.

03 Astro 2wd hub.

98+ Blazer 2wd hub.

BUT.. this link here is telling me these 6 lug hubs will fit a 2000 blazer. I understand i would have to run blazer hub style spindles to do this to an s10.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

It looks like the hub may be a little to deep from the mount back but it's hard to tell. If you have access to it and a blazer spindle Id say give it a shot.

Yeah i was looking at the depth of it too and as long as it goes in the spindle all the way i think it'll be okay.

Might have to give it a shot because i think it would be awesome to run some OEM GM 20 inch wheels or some nissan armada / titan 20 inch steelies (offset permitting)

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Did a SFBD today on another truck of mine with the help of colby. (Shop floor body drop) haha.

Might end up using this cab on the zebra truck, not 100% sure yet though. Sold everything to a guy about 50 miles from me that wanted everything but the cab so it worked for everyone in the end.

I has a sad or 2.
And just for future reference if someone ever tried to do this later down the road, that is a 2wd astro/safari van hub, about a 2003 in a belltech drop spindle for a 98+ blazer/jimmy.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Is the actual 3 bolt flange the same pattern and everything though?

It looks close, you may be able to have those hubs turned down slightly.

I wish i could lie and say it is close but honestly it isn't. I just borrowed the hub from a friend at autozone so i didn't lose anything. I'm going to try one more hub then i'll probably throw the idea out.

the trailblazer uses a similar hub as the 98+ blazer / jimmy.
IMO, it looks a little more believable that it would fit compared to the huge astro 6x5.5 hub.

Hmm 20 inch TBSS wheels on s10. Anyone know the offset on those wheels?

Haven't touched it in months and the last thing I did was sell the engine in it.

Lost motivation, didn't really care for the tradition body drop, needed to finish interior wiring. Needed more room. Hated the cluttered garage. Should've just stuck it out but maybe I'll get to it one day.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

It's been a while since i've even touched the truck, garage is piled up with stuff that should be in there and the trucks really in the way. between work and doing other things in life i don't really have the time right now to work on it, nor do i have the drive to get going back on it, especially after selling the engine out of it (guess it's true about pulling an engine in a project, it'll never get finished.. lol)

I'll listen to some offers if someone wants a project truck.

-I have a complete fleetside bed for it (victory red)
-it has tube uppers and lowers (ART)
-dom bags 2500 and 2600, spent most of their life so far on this truck in my garage
-I don't really have a designated set of wheels for it, but i have some 1st zq8 wheels and good tires.
-Firewall tubbed for 20's with spare room.
-clutch master cyl angled in the firewall, could use some more metal work to make it look nice.
-2003 4.3 5 speed custom wiring harness for computer in engine bay setup.
-I have doors for it, fenders, core support, etc.
-all the interior is in the garage, probably dusty by now.
-I have some smc valves that could be used on it since the accuair is gone now.

If interested pm me on here.

Also, if anyone is needing a stock cab i have a 98 white reg cab with complete clean tan interior and clean title. Has doors, steering column, matching key, manual locks and windows. $450

And i have the 1999 2 door Jimmy bagged project body for sale. stock firewall, shaved doors that need some work Charcoal interior, tubbed out back for 18's /19's, maybe 20's and a 30 series. i'll take $450 for it too. Clean title.

Re: Project: 2003 zq8 zebra.

Looking to sell this thing cheap. It's in the way and i simply am not going to finish it. It's missing parts and has no drivetrain. Has most the interior to go with it.

PROS:
Clean title
Originally ZQ8 truck
8.5 rear end
4 link done with bag on bar
Body drop cab basically done. Cowl area needs drain route, thats about it.
fire wall tubbed for 20/22 maybe.

CONS:
No engine or trans
No bed
Different color body parts
No bags

Whats included:
Frame
cab
most interior
rear end
Swirlies
stock arms
spindles
core support
fenders
8.5 rear axle
fuel cell
triangulated 4 link
other random stuff i'm sure im forgetting

This is about how it looks right now. No 20's though.

Throw me some offers. Not going to take 100 bucks for it but i know its not going to bring $1500 either.
