Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

I think I have the motor stuff figured out. I forgot to post that before the birth of my best buddy. I think I have the brakes figured out but I just now have to have time to go out and work on it. Once I fix these brakes it should be time to get it out and tune it.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

Brakes are FIXED! I put the wheels and tires back on and fired it up. I took it down the road and back (1/4 mile) just over an idle. It was nice to get it out of the driveway. That is the farthest it has ever gone on it's own since the swap. Tuning coming soon and I hope to have a video to prove it soon.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

OK no video but I have a pic. or two. I got the idle tuned in and out of gear almost spot on. I started working on the 1/3 throttle pulls to 4,000 RPM and that is coming along really nice. I will say the 1->2 shift is hell on the rear tires even at 1/3 throttle.

I don't need this on the window anymore

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

Ok guys, it decided to rain today so I didn't get out to do more tuning or get a video of a burnout. I will get it out and keep tuning on it every time out so I can really beat on this thing. I do want to change the oil and filter on it just to make sure that there isn't anything in it such as metal shavings. I don't expect any but I have had a buddy find stuff in the oil on new motors that shouldn't be there. Better safe than sorry. I do know that I have some tuning things to work out but that SHOULD be small potatoes. I have found that tuning is fun and something that makes a project 100% mine. I will keep everyone posted, if anyone is reading this thread anymore. lol

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

Did more tuning on it today and I am getting closer. I took her WOT a few times and she likes it. I still have stock shift tables and only running about 17* timing WOT in the upper RPM's. The traction bars are really doing the job right now. I am on cheap street tires 275's and she hooks up really good. From a 20 roll I can flat foot it and it will just barely dig some and seems to really pull up on the front.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

Have the same problem with my brakes man! The truck does stop but its alot softer than id like. I did deleted abs and bled the shit out of the brake lines. I had the same setup on my old truck and the pedal still had alot of firmness. Dont forget that the proportioning valve on your truck is for Disc/Drum. You need a Disc/Disc distribution block.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

Yeah man I finally deleted the proportioning valve but kept the abs. I finally got all the air out of the lines and it stops great now.

This is just like how i did mine (I used rumnarv pic):

Here is a short drive video and a slow roll WOT run. The sound at the end of the cruise was because I was on an overpass.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

No real updates. It is setting in the garage waiting for spring. My 5 month old son seems to like the sound of the loud exhaust with a cam. He Loves the sound of the straight piped w/stack, EFI live tuned Duramax. It puts him to sleep every time we ride.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

Time for a little winter love.
I'm planing on making some room where the steering shaft and header want to touch at certain rpms, hook up the oil temp and trans temp gauge, make an air filter shield. If I get motivated I will start on the N20 install.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

I took the truck out today and beat on it a little. A buddy took out his turbo TA and we went on a little cruise. It was a good time. The be is when I roll raced some guy and his wife in a 2010+ Camaro SS. When I pulled up next to him, I just started to pace him. His wife looked at me and then nudged her husband, the driver. He down shifted (manual) and he hammered it. I stabbed mine to the floor, it down shifted and off we went. I feel like I was pulling on him some when all at once I leaped out in front by 1/2 truck. So I let out thinking he let out. Turns out he was just shifting. lol I'm happy with the performance of the little truck that is only at 20* timing and running a FAT AFR.

Don't get too excited. I haven't decided if I am going to run it or not. I would like to but that will take some time and money. IF I do I will start on it this fall. This year I will be at LS Fest just the way it sets with the exception of N20.

Installed the unit tonight but not the sensors yet. It is a lot easier to see while in the truck than it looks in the pic. I can also use all of my HVAC too.

I hope to have updates soon. I have been chasing some issues with KR. I could turn it off in the tune and not worry about it since I know it's not detonation.

I hope to be back with some good updates by the end of this week.

Re: Picking up "Project LS10"

After DDing this truck for a few months I feel good about it but I keep hearing a lifter tick. I have had some good friends hear it and we all agree that we think there is a weak lifter. So looks like this winter I will be pulling the motor and putting the 6.0 in since I have to pull the heads off anyway. So I'll swap all the goodies (cam, heads, intake, ect) to the 6.0 and put it back in. I'll prob start on that this fall. Right now I have a Massey Harris 44 I'm getting ready for pulling. So that's the updates boys and girls.

Got a thread on the Massie? I grew up with pulling, my grandad pulled a Allis Chalmers RC and a hot unstyled WC.
