Tonight I came home from getting fitted for my tux (I'm in my buddy's wedding), and found a package at my door. It looked like this when I opened it:
I sat around the house for awhile trying to talk myself in to working on the truck because it was so damn hot outside(90*). I finally did guilt trip myself in to going out there and this is what I got done.
Cut the frame:
Installed motor mounts and installed the test motor...Kind of:
Almost there. I need to cut a little more on the frame and then swap the PS pulley and its in. This is how close it is (not really much cutting mostly the pulley):
So I will be building a 6.0 at some point in the future but for now I found a deal I cant pass up. It's a long story so bare with me. lol About a 1.5 years ago I did an LS1 swap in to my Silverado, and pulled my running 5.3L. When I pulled the 5.3L I was going to keep it for a project (like this) but decided to liquidate all my LS parts. I sold all my LS parts and this running longblock with all the covers and pan for $300 to a real good buddy. I wanted to clean up the garage and he wanted this 5.3L for a first gen S10 swap. Now he never got to it and wanted to make room in his shop so he told me to bring $100 over and pick up the longblock, all the LS parts and the motorstand. After I begged him to let me pay what he payed me I brought home my old 5.3 for $100!
After I checked the baring clearances, installed ARP2000 rod bolts and did a little cleaning/painting.
Didn't want to delete the A/C but to run the Magna-Charger I had to and I doubt I will miss it much. I will be ordering a new blower box, fan blade, and tube from GMpartsdirect soon to delete it the right way. I am also going to run a FMIC on this Maggie to keep IAT's down. I know it will be tight but I think I can do it. Top tube to pull fresh air in, Maggie push's charge out the bottom hole in to pipes to FMIC and then in to the intake. There will be lots of pipe running in to one area but I have some ideas.
Heres pics of the Supercharger on the mock up motor:
(the tube is to hold the radiator support straight)
OK so today I worked for about 6 hours on the trans X-member and now have 90% of it done. The only thing left to do is weld the plate on the X-member where the trans mount will set. I will post pics as soon as I get it done, which should be tomorrow.
A guy I know bought my 2.2 and trans yesterday and he is also doing a LS swap in to his S10. We got to talking and he said he had an extra set of mid-length headers for a 94-97 S10 that wouldn't fit his truck because of the A/C. Well I'm not running A/C so I asked if I could test fit them on mine and he dropped them off today. Here they are...installed.

UPDATE: I haven't worked on the S10 since 11-3-11 sooo let me tell you what has been going on. The wife and I bought another house. Now we have two house payments and it sucks as far having money or time to work on the truck. I do have a nice new 40x30 shop to work in when I get time. I will post up pics sometime soon of the truck in it's new home.
I am so bored with saving money to put this motor together so I spent a total of $20 or so to do this today. I am pleased with it.
kind of off topic and dont mean to thread jack, but i got the same color on my truck. did u get that color from the local parts store where they have the spray paint? iv looked and couldnt find it. trying to paint my handles and mirrors but cant find a direct match.

I thought I would play in the shop tonight on the S10 so I put the fenders and radiator suport back on just so I could see how much room I would have up front. While I was doing that I tossed the hood on to see how much room up top I would have and took some pics.
I still have soo much to do and it almost makes me want to quit. I don't think I would feel this way if I had some money to spend on this truck. The wife and I want it running by this time next year so I can take it to Springfield Mo for the hot rod nationals. We will be down there for a bowling tournament so it works out for us.
