Nah. Still got it. Gonna end up swapping it some day. Probably. Need a garage to do it in, so probably not til the Mrs. and I buy a house. And I'm not really in a rush to do that.

Put a little work in today.

Redid some of the e-fan wiring and got it all loomed up and pretty



Finally replaced the original radiator mounts too





Think they were bad? Not sure why, but they basically turned to goo.

Also made some brackets for the top





Just some aluminum flat stock and the existing rubber bumpers. Hit them with a scotchbrite pad for that fancy brushed look. I just had to drill one hole in the core support for the right side. Simple, cheap, and did exactly what I needed them to do. Can't beat that!

Picked up some more air ride parts Sunday.




I'm probably only gonna run two of the tanks. Pretty sure they're 5 gal. Ten gallons will be more than enough. Not 100% positive I'm gonna run the horn, since it's like 3' long. But it was free. Two double pressure gauges for the bags, and a single one for the tank. Now all I really need is valves and hose, and fittings, and I can start getting this turd closer to the ground.


These parts actually come from the collection of the late, great Gimp. His sister has been going through all his truck stuff and needed help figuring out what everything was/was worth. A friend and I went Sunday and helped. It's kinda nice that in a way, he'll be contributing to my build.

Bought a pair of vent visors from my friend and installed them.





I really like how they look. Only issue is the double sided tape is way out of place on the front of both sides.





I tried peeling it off to reposition it, but this 3m shit is pretty much permenant, so no luck. I'm just gonna end up trying to trim the excess with a razor blade. Or just leave it. It'll collect dirt and dust and turn black eventually.

Have you thought about trying to get your other frame to the point of a rolling chassis and then you and a couple buddies could just swap your engine and body over outside over a weekend? Body and motor swaps go pretty quick if the other frame is already plumped and on all 4 wheels.

Yeah. That's basically the plan. I've just had very little ambition to do so. Working on cars all week in high humidity, 90+ degree weather leaves me with very little desire to do anything after work or on the weekends. Hopefully it'll start cooling down some in the next few weeks and I can start working on it. Enough to get it mobile at least, to get it out of the elements. Im still most likely gonna wait till I've got my own indoor work space to do the swap.

The gasket was out of place, and after sitting outside for over a year, yeah...



Pump looks fine...



Gonna try to find one online the same dimensions as this one. Maybe aluminum, if it's not crazy expensive.

That, I'm not sure of. I don't see why you couldn't use the blazer stuff as long as the lines are the same size. Fuel pressure is externally regulated. So unless I'm missing something I don't see why not.

Finally, FINALLY fixed my saggy door. I've replaced pins and bushings a couple times, but they never lasted very long, because the holes were elongated. So this afternoon I pulled the door off, laid some weld on the hinges, and drilled and filed the holes back to the proper size.

The top hole in the bottom hinge was by far the worst. Didn't take any pics though. At that point, I was just focused on getting it done.

Got them all ground down smooth, and shot some paint on it. Not that anyone will really see it, but I had a tiny bit of a spray can left over.



No lie, I stood there doing this for over a minute. And I wasn't even pushing it closed. That's just gravity. I wish I had taken a before video. You can kinda see where the door had been hitting the cab. Before, I had to lift up when I shut it or it would hit bad.

What size drill bit did you use? I have pins and bushings in my center console waiting. I need to weld and grind mine too. They are even worse than yours were lol.

Holy Jesus. You don't even have any bushings left! I forget what size bit I used. It was a small one. I only needed to use it on one hole that I welded too small and couldn't get the file through. Mostly I just used a 3/8" round file.

My passenger side is still original with absolutely no wear.

I didn't weld the entire hole shut. I just figured out where it was worn, put a small bead of weld to build it up, then filed it down just enough to be able to press the bushing in. Basically, wherever the pin is contacting the hinge is where it's worn, and should be built back up, to bring the door back into position.

Yeah, there's a slight interference fit. I use a big pair of channel-locks, with a big socket on the back side to let it go all the way through. They're relatively fragile, so you don't want to go beating on them. Ask me how I know...

They should be press fit. I usually stick a screwdriver through the bushing and drive it in by hitting the handle with a hammer.

Replaced front shocks today. The stock replacements that have been in there since I dropped it were surprisingly not blown out. But, I got a free set of Belltech Street Performance shocks from a friend a couple years ago, that have just been collecting dust. Figured it was finally time.



Don't mind the overspray. He painted his frame with them installed. They only have maybe 20 feet of in and out of the garage wear on them. Basically new. Left side came out no problem. Right side, both speednuts broke and I ended up having to cut the heads off the bolts to get it out. Luckily I found replacement speednuts and bolts in my junkyard hoard of fasteners.

Such an improvement over the old shocks. Much more solid ride. Not all bouncy like it was.

I'm not a big fan of pinstripes on an S10,just because the era seems wrong to me. I do like the stripping though...nice talent. I have trouble with a spray bomb....lol. did you clear over them for durability?

I did not clear over them. They're in non-wear areas, and the artist said the paint he uses will stand up to years of wear, if it were in a place that was constantly touched.

I like the stripes. I follow a pinstriping group on fb, and in some areas of the country its normal for people to have their brand new cars striped every time they get a new one. The rat rod scene sort of made people think its just for older cars but there are still alot of artist that stripe new cars every day. Von Dago is the main artist I can think of that stripes a ton of new cars. Just depends where your from.

It wasn't as bad as many I've seen. I haven't driven it much since it started getting really bad, which is why I put it off for so long. But I never slammed it to get it to shut.

Well, today was one of those 'why do I even bother?' days. I should've known that with all the recent work I've been doing, something big was gonna fail.

Driving to get food on my lunch break, and my clutch just decides 'fck this, I'm out!' Pedal sucks, hard going into all gears, but at least I was able to make it back to work, and then 8 miles to my parents house. And that is where this piece of shit is gonna stay till next spring. Or longer.

Indeed. I guess it's possible the master cylinder is binding, too. I looked up under the dash and nothing appears loose, broken or out of place. It seems ok.
If it does end up needing another clutch, I'm just gonna wait till I do the frame swap, and do it with the cab removed. It'll be a little easier that way.

I have had that happen. My corolla's slave cylinder decided it was done being useful while I was at work in Baltimore city. 40 mile drive home in rush hour traffic with almost no clutch release. It is no fun when they do that.

Well, I guess I jinxed myself. I went to drive the corolla and went to shift between 1st and 2nd and no more clutch. The slave cylinder is shot.

So I'm kinda sorta fairly sure it's a problem with the master cylinder. I've actually heard of the rod that goes from the pedal into the master, having the tip break off and either bind stuff up, or not allow full travel, resulting in the clutch not releasing 100%. Easy enough to check, I figured.
First I got under the dash, disconnected the pushrod from the pedal and tried to pull it out. Stuck. Reconnected it to the pedal, disconnected the master cylinder from the firewall, and pulled on it as hard as I felt comfortable. Rod still stuck. So it looks like I'm gonna be replacing it. RockAuto has them for pretty cheap, but I'm gonna see how my NAPA discount compares. Maybe by the end of next week, it'll be done.

And because I would feel bad posting an update without at least one pic
