Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Thanks man! I'm pretty much just waiting on warmer weather to do some bodywork. Then getting panels painted and swapped over. Then refinish wheels, mount tires, and hit some shows!

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Definitely sticking with the stock green. I absolutely love it. That, plus it's so much extra work to change color.

Brother, I here you. This weather has to go.

Look foward to the updates especially if your going to kick a$$ on it this year. I still think a better frame would be a good swap though. It's hard to recover from what you have.

Also I'd love your input on that stud gun you bought when you use it---how much was it?

Glad to see your keeping it green, its a nice shade and goes with those wheels good.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Definitely kicking ass this spring. Honestly, the frame looks worse than it really is. It's only rotting out in an area that's fully boxed. Still got plenty of strength. Gonna be getting patched soon. The stud gun was $90 or $100. From all the reviews I read, it's a pretty good tool for the money. Some people complained that the slide hammer that comes with it is a little flimsy. But, it's good for the occasional body-man. I figure, it's better than drilling holes to pull the dent, or slapping on 3/8" of filler.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

I've been looking at that same stud puller, have you tried it out yet?

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Haven't forgot about this old turd. The weather finally broke around here, so last night I pulled off the roof rack, sanded it down, and painted it satin black. Added another coat today. I'll reassemble it tomorrow, but I'm not gonna bother reinstalling it yet. I'm gonna be sanding and prepping the cap and the rest of the body panels for paint.

Also sanded and primed my 98+ bumper.

It's supposed to be kind of rainy and shitty tomorrow, so I doubt I'll get any more done until the weekend. Gotta start calling around for some prices on paint. Aiming for the beginning of May as my completion date.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Finally started doing some work on the new bed.

I have a new favorite tool! So glad I bought this stud gun. Definitely worth the $, and easy enough to use that you'd have to be a Motornut to screw it up. Beats the pants off of trying to bang out the dents from behind, or just spreading on an inch of Bondo.

Slapped on a couple layers of filler, and got it roughly shaped for now.

Some primer just to get a better look at the high and low points.

Also filled in the holes from where I used to have my rear plate mounted, sanded and painted the rear window trim.

Yeah, there's a dent, but it looks a lot better.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Stud gun is simple. Put a stud in the tip, press against metal, push the button for half a second, pull the gun away. Stud is welded on. Slip slide hammer tip over stud, tighten down the little gripping wheel, and bang bang bang... No more dent.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Does your camper come up flush with the top of your cab or does it stick up some

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Not much of an update, but progress is progress.

Pulled the plastic off the Ranger bumper, and painted it.

It's not perfect, but neither is the truck. Some nicks and scratches, but the paint filled it in a little.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

The ranger bumper is a cool idea, and glad the HF stud gun works well, I'm going to need it for my truck soon.

Re: MyTruckHasNoPantsOn!

Thanks guys! Bumper needs a bit of rust control and some brackets to fit the s10, but it's getting there.

Cap windows will be limo tinted eventually...
