Re: my pieced together s-10 that I love

So this thing has been doing great. No major problems. aside from routine maintenance, I haven't really had to touch her. Every visual inspection has been great, and she's been running rather smoothly. Since I've been spending most my time and money on the Jeep and house, it has been a great blessing having such a reliable DD.

but yesterday, everything just decided to break. no major issues. and it's kind of nice they all came on at once. but I got the stupid p0410 code. so I took out the smog pump and let it dry for the 6th time.

and I have been living in an apartment for the past 5 years, so I'm still re-learning I actually can use air tools I realized this when I thought to myself, "why the hell am I waiting for the pump and filter to dry out.

and while I was putting the pump back in, I looked at my tire and saw this

and also, one of my headlights burnt out, so I had to replace that. but she remains strong.

Those tires looked a little dry rotted anyways. lol.

Isn't it great how reliable these are when they are maintained though!?

I just went through your entire thread. I love your truck and all the work you've done to it over the years.

Nice score on the Cherokee, they have all the cool of the Wagoneer with two less doors!

thanks! and no way on the SS mirrors, I spent forever looking for these power-folding envoy mirrors

I suppose I could use this opportunity for an update.

My laziness has really gotten the better of me. I have NEVER had any part of my truck in a shop. ever (except paint). well, I got really lazy, and needed to change the U-joints on my DS. So I took it to some local guy at a relatively new shop. ever since, It's been wobbling and getting worse.

so I take the shaft out, take it to another long standing shop to get it balanced, and the guy tells me he won't touch any sort of s-10 driveshaft because he's gotten burned on them so many times.

So I pretty much had a ****y driveshaft. I went to the JY, pulled one from a 2003 (got lucky because I found an extended cab 2.2 manual) and I completely rebuilt the thing (carrier bearing and all) like I should have done in the first place. since then, no wobbles

so after that got all sorted out. I felt really bad for my old girl so I bought her a bunch on new parts and pampered her.

PITA drums cost me a hammer, tank of MAP gas, and full an of PB blaster

much nicer and easier front replacements. replaced the bearings cause they needed it pretty badly

couldn't figure out why my truck wasn't going anywhere when I was all done and ready to test drive it

really, I haven't done much to her other than routine maintenance. she's pretty strong.

I did however, find my first sign of rust luckily it's very small and not progressing at all. and it gives me a good excuse to paint the thing this summer (staying with white)

....and some other updates

got some ink

bought a "new" toy

saw this badass thing

I really hate the double joint setup on the extended cabs. No one wants to work on them, and when they do, they **** them up. You should have gotten a solid shaft, though I'm not sure if you can being lowered. (I can't remember how low you are.)

Also, I've never had that much difficulty with a drum brake except for my parents Town and Country.

unfortunately no. It's a Mexican. and I need to re-wax the pickups. But I've wanted a Tele for so long. I sold my Epiphone Les Paul a while back because I hated the thing after playing my buddies tele.
