Just because you don't hear a leak doesn't mean there isn't one there. Fill the tank up and try spraying soapy water over the fittings to see if you find any leaks.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Daylight pics on my way to work. I drove it around this morning in my neighborhood while waiting on my mom to get ready and it drives nice to be bagged without shocks or a swaybar. I stopped to show a mechanic that i know at the end of the street which was pretty cool. I've got to check for those leaks (He told me to spray soap/water on to see bubbles) before the show. It's got to be between the bags and fill valve but i think i may have a tiny little leak on the nipple coming out of the tank that i need to tighten. It's good right now though. Just needs adjusting...

I got those 3" blocks and u bolts when ever you're ready to come get them. Whens the next time you work? I can drop them off on my way home.

You have the u bolts too?? I thought you couldn't find them. Anyway i'm not off until Sunday which sucks. I can pick them up from your work on my way home one day this week. If possible i was wanting them installed so i can put on my bed and get the truck to that show Saturday. How hard are blocks? I've never messed with them just bags.

I work tommorow until 5:00 or 5:30 btw

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Found my fitting leaks and fixed them. Not sure if it's still leaking but i don't hear anything and no more bubbles are coming up when i put soapy water on the connections. I've got to finish bolting down the compressor then i think i can finally put my bed back on and drive it.

You put bags on your truck and are worried about how hard blocks are to put in? Way easy. Take off old u bolts, lift up rear end and throw the blocks in between the rear end and the spring plates and tighten up the new u bolts. They're laying in my garage right now. I'll bring them up to your work on Friday.

Where was the leak at?

I know....but blocks are different
It was leaking where my dump valve screwed on so that was causing my bags to lose air and my truck to air out on it's own. Also the main tee fitting on the tank was leaking so i had to take everything off and tighten it. I'm not sure if i lost tank pressure yet but i looked outside and my truck is still off the ground so i'm not leaking anywhere between the bags and fill valve anymore.

What time will you be there Friday? Also do you want to come out Saturday to the show?

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Cranked it up for about a minute to let it run so it won't run so bad when i drive it (Does it when sitting for long periods of time) tonight and i forget what psi i had in my tank when i went to sleep but it didn't look like i had lost any and if i did it wasn't much. I hadn't lost any bag pressure either that i could tell.

I'm going to finish bolting on my compressor today and clip the zip ties holding my wires together and put my bed back on after tightening a couple nuts and putting some split washers on. I'll probably wash it too and if it's not too dark i'll get a photo or two.

Pics once the bed is back on.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I might do the blocks sunday. I don't know if i will pull the leaf spring yet through. I have to make sure my driveshaft won't rub my airlines because that would really, really suck...

Btw i'm not getting the blocks until tommorow around 5 when eric brings them by my job. I won't have time to do them before that local show either so sunday at the earliest. I'll get pics up soon as i can.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I had to do that before anyways because the jack i had was a tad too tall for my truck because it's meant for my unles 4x4 dodge ram 1500 megacab (He gave me the jack)

It won't rub right now but if i lower the rear i just have to check first. Pics in a sec aswell as a video.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I've been thinking about some 18's but my tires that i have on these stock rims are almost new looking (Came with it) so i thought about maybe waiting until my tires wear out then since i would need new tires anyway i could go ahead and get new 18's and tires.

I'd like to order my front bumper next then i can install my clear bumper lights and put on a new valance.

Huh...? You asked that yesterday. I'm getting my front bumper replaced and the valance aswell as installing the clear bumper lights that i have sitting in my room then i'm going to start looking around for some rims. I'm thinking about going ahead and start buying parts to bag the rear because i'm tired of it not being bagged

I'm using dominators in the back for the bags. I don't know yet if i will do 2500 or 2600. I kinda want 2600 on the rear but i like how the 2500 bags ride up front. For the link i was looking at the bolt-on 4 link from thorbeck brothers on suicidedoors.com

My rear setup is kinda foggy right now. I'm just browsing around getting ideas still because i don't have the $1,200-$1,500 to do the rear yet. I will definiately need to upgrade tanks to an 8 or 9 gallon probably and definately get another viair 400.

I'm putting on 3" blocks soon as i get my hands on a couple jackstands and a hydraulic jack then pulling the middle leaf springs to make the rear a total of 4" lower. That will be a little better until i can bag the back.

Putting the 3" blocks in and pulling the rear middle leaf spring will be more like a 5.5-6" drop in the back.

The how-to is on the forum and it's from a second gen but he lost about 1" by pulling the middle leaf springs. I figure 1" from leaf springs and 3" form blocks for 4" total. I could be wrong though but 4" sounded right to me

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Ok,so Eric pointed out something that i didn't notice before: I only have 2 atual leaf springs. The third is an "overload" or w/e. now that i know that i'll just put in the 3" blocks. I have them sitting in my room now thanks to Eric but i don't have time to install them nor do i feel like ti after work today.

I'll put them in soon though.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Bolted on one of the 3" blocks. I'll bolt on the other tommorow when i wake up then torque them down. I ended up just grinding through the old u-bolts because it was much easier and faster than trying to remove the nuts. Looks much better now that the ass end doesn't stick up so much when the front is aired out. Still not low enough but it will do for now..

With 3" block

Without 3" block

Difference

Aired out in front with the 3" block on the driverside rear

I'd like about 2" more in the rear personally but i don't want to add a notch right now.

I don't know whats up with that how to thread, but on my 84 and on my 95 when I took out the middle leaf spring...I had 3 plus the overload...it dropped the rear about 2.5-3".

Even with the blocks, it doesn't look like that big of a difference. Looks better though.

I know. You have to stare at the rear tire to notice any change in height. It's not much but it's still a little lower. I might static drop it some more until i get the $1,200-$1,500 for the rear setup (Shits expensive... )

I just put on the passengerside block. I've got to make a trip up to advance to pick up a deep socket for tightening down the bolts and i need 1 more split washer. I'm having problems getting one of the nuts on. It doesn't want to thread on and i know it can't be the bot because the other bolts do the same way when i try them. I think the very end of the threads is a little messed up. I guess hit it with the grinder to clean it up?

Got my stuff. 2 nuts,2 washers, and a deep socket. The guy at the store told me he didn't have any in the thread like i need but guess what.... i walked back in the back with one of the employees and what did i find but 2 split washers and 2 grade 8 nuts that fit.

Too i've heard this guy is a dick plus i've noticed it myself a couple times. Not to mention he gave me the wrong clutch slave cylinder back when i had to fix it. Steven, the guy i normally talk to there wasn't working or i wouldn't have had to go through so much hassle just to get some nuts and washers.

I'm crossing my fingers that i have enough left out of this weeks paycheck (Thursday) to order my new front bumper. It looks nice aired out in front but that mangled up bumper kills it. Plus i've had my clear bumper lights since scrapin the coast and never installed them

I'll post updates next time i do something. Next thing i'm probably doing is just changing my oil and filter again then maybe ordering the bumper if i have enough.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

hmmmi was thinking to start off my lowing i was going to block it aswell in the back,...i forgot how much it dropped the ubolt assem. closer to the ground...

i have terrible roads here in logan and pluss that major snow in the winter time and it might be a bad idea to loose the gound clearace right in those spots.

im prolly going to look into leaf springs that lower the truck or just save up and get a road grader setup...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I ride on some horrible roads here and big bumps and the rear does fine with 3" blocks. I'd like to drop the rear another 2-3" though. If i air up to 150psi in the front i can sorta ride cali style but it looks wierd because the front has to be up so high.

I cashed my check on my lunch break and ordered my front bumper from jbm. It should be here next week then i will be installing it and installing my clear bumper lights. Also going to pick up a nice valance at the u-pull it.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I don't think i'll mess with it anymore until i bag it really. Anyway i didn't know the truck was there when i went but i came home and got my camera. One of the monster trucks in town for a show was at the parts store.

Oh,and i asked the monster truck driver if he minded and he said go ahead so......

It was pretty cool because while waiting for someone to move so i could get out i had my compressor running and my truck lifted some and the driver of the monster truck walked over to my passenger window and looked in my cab and my bed and asked me if i had my setup mounted under the bed and stuff. Pretty nice guy. Made me feel pretty good to finally have someone come up and ask me about my stuff finally.

I've got to buy a huge drill bill at lowes but i'm planning to bolt my trailer ball to the skidplate and go dragging this weekend. I have a 14mm but it's not big enough and i can't really wallow out the hole so i'm going to have to open up my wallet and go to lowes for a drill bit that i'll probably end up only needing once....

The monster truck guy (Second from left) was pretty cool. He actually talked to me and asked me about my setup and how it was mounted. The black guy i overheard say something about "Toy truck" but he can kiss my ****ing ass.

I probably won't waste $30 on the drill bit but instead use the money for actual parts. I could buy my new door lock cylinders instead of wasting it on the bit. Much better investment... Especially considering i don't have keys for the original door locks.

The monster truck driver was alright. The black guy i didn't like at all. I don't doubt he laughed. But i could care less. He tried saying how he "Used to build race cars" or some crap. Since when does Cadillac make race cars?

Unless the guy i talked to didn't know what he was talking about,my bumper should be shipped sometime today. I'm dreading removing the old bumper though. I'm crossing my fingers that it isn't as hard to remove as the rear bumper was. I'm pretty sure it will be though. That's how it always works...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I still wouldn't really consider them a "Race car" though. But back to the actual subject.

No email yet saying my bumper has been shipped but i was told it should be today or tommorow. If all goes well i'll have it on by Friday or Saturday. I found some "Sport" style mirrors that i'll probably order for it next week then next i'm not sure. I definately want individual fill and dump valves for the front bags though. It rides uneven when i have a decent bit of gas in my tank unless i air it up more.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I know that :P
If you noticed i said i definately want individual valves to fix the problem. I'm ordering 2 more eventually but i've got some other things like finishing the front end first. My bumper, valance, and bumper lights will pretty much finish the front.

I will probably end up putting off the valves for a while because i dread taking my bed back off to re-do the fittings setup on my tank and wire up the new valves. I'll do it eventually though. I do plan to add a dump valve control though. I can control it but it still dumps faster than i'd like it to.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

That's sorta what i planned to do. I know home depot and lowes fittings aren't the best but i'd rather buy one for $9-$10 or so rather than pay $19.99 or whatever suicide doors charges and on top of that, have to wait on them to be shipped.

The rest of the fittings though will be coming from a local supply shop for semi trucks. I might go ahead and buy those next week and then order the valves in a couple weeks or so.

For now i'm just enjoying driving it. I'm tired of it sitting for 3-4 days and not being able to drive it until i get the parts installed. I'm still going to be doing more but for now i'd rather just drive and take a break until my bumper comes in.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Picking up the valance in about an hour. I finally figured out why my turn signals blinked slow as hell. It turned out that i needed a new electronic flasher. My left turn signal still doesn't work when the headlights are on though so i've got to trace the wire and make sure something isn't touching something it isn't supposed to..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Pulled a mint looking valance, matching glovebox door to replace my broken one,and even got a free almost brand new air filter that i found laying in a blazer. The glovebox door is already on but i have to stick my s10 logo back onto the new one because it had been removed. I'll post pics of everything later tonight.

Still waiting on my front bumper around the middle of this week then i'll install it and the valance aswell as the clear bumper lights. Next week i may go pull my driverside fender that i need and put it on then next i'm not sure. I'm debating 2" drop spindles right now.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Valance... It needs to be cleaned and then sprayed with some armorall but it's pretty mint for a junkyard valance. No cracks or splits and it only took about 10 minutes to take off. You wouldn't think they would need that many screws to hold on a simple piece of rubber...

Air filter that i found sitting in a blazer. It looks almost brand new and the guy just told me to take it. Can't beat a free almost brand new air filter

My new glovebox door installed. Somebody had already taken the emblem off so i got some double sided tape and put my emblem off my old door onto the new door.

And a couple random shots of my interior. The seat is bad i know but i've got some other stuff i want to do before having it re-upholstered (Sp?)

Prices weren't bad either at the u-pull it. I paid $6.99 for my valance (Took the bolts too since to me that's part of the deal) and i paid $3.99 for the glovebox door. I've definately got to go back and pull a fender and maybe a new tailgate because i found out the one i got is bowed out a little and it hits the rollpan in the center and won't open. I just have to unbolt the rollpan then i can open the tailgate to get to the bolts and remove it. I'm thinking about trying to bend it back out somehow but if not i will have to just suck it up and buy another one at the junkyard.
