Yeah i can't wait. I hate cruising with friends and everyone is bagged and i'm sitting stock. Feels pretty lame. Plus my a/c isn't good and afterall it's cooler at lower altitudes

lol, i know the feeling. i used to go cruising with all my friends who had these bad cars, like a 86 300zx, a 320hp 240sx, and several other cool cars, and i was in a 01 kia rio. lmao.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Now i really am broke until Payday (Thursday) but i went ahead and bought my relay off ebay.

It should hopefully be here the end of this week. I paid using my debit card so there's no waiting for them to recieve payment and the shipipng says 2-3 days so i'm hoping for Friday. My compressor will hopefully be in by then and i can go Thursday or Friday and buy my fittings, pressure switch, and wiring. Then Saturday and Sunday can be spent bagging =)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I'm ready to start seeing pics of the teardown and install.

I have 3" blocks that I said I'd let you have, so don't buy another set.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I thought you had said at one time you wanted $20 for them?
But if you insist...i'll be happy to take them off your hands
I'd have to buy the u-bolts though wouldn't i? Next time i see you i'll pick them up. Hopefully you will have the install pics Sunday. If everything works out right i can guarantee some dragging pics too.

The only parts i have left to buy are:

*Fittings
*Pressure switch 150psi
*Some wiring for grounds and connecting the relay
*Couple packs of bolts (For bolting everything under my bed)
*Wire ends
*Roll of teflon tape

I should have enough money come payday to buy all of the remaining items in town.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

everyone has to start somewhere, and that truck is a lot cleaner than my first one it was a real junker and cost me £1000 (about $1900 us) it was so bad i junked it and bought a95 std cab for $1650 from a freind who imports them from florida to uk,it is now in total kit form awaiting all the air ride to be installed along with the 350lt1 and 4l60e so far its taken 2yrs to get to this stage and it will still take about 6 months more to finish it,so dont give up hope its only rust and can be repaired so good luck.joe

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Not giving up hope anytime soon

Today i put on my right front rotor to replace the warped one and my pads were almost gone...literally. I got new pads for the front and put them on and got everything back together. Thanks to not having a c clamp or the right allen wrench for the caliper it took a lot longer than expected but i got it done. I even put more grease in the left rotor and i cleaned the outside of the dust cap with my wire brush to get them looking like new.

F'n rusted bolts....

Before cleaning

After cleaning

Old versus new. Do you see the problem?

Next order of business....install the bags

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Cotter pin? Yeah i put one on the passenger side but it's not easy to see. The grease hides everything. I also replaced the cotter pin on the left side while i had the dust cap off to tighten up the bolt and put more grease in.

It drives like a dream now. No more rattling of my bones everything i put on brakes. It used to shake the whole truck but thankfully it's all fixed. It's so smooth to that you can barely feel when i push the brakes =)

My relay was mailed usps today at 4:25pm so i'm hoping i'm going to get it by Sunday. I'm not sure on the compressor because my past 2 orders from suicide doors haven't given me a tracking # and confirmation of shipping until either 1 day before i recieve it or after i've already opened the package.

If i get everything in time i will be bagging it Sunday with the help of my friend Nick (S10Blazaaa) I'll post pics of the install once the rest of the parts are in.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Just checked my email while on lunch break and my compressor is on time and scheduled to be delivered tommorow so when i get home from work tommorow it should be there. I'll be going Friday and buying my fittings and pressure switch if the place is open after work. If i have to i might give my parents a list and $ and have them pick it up for me while i'm at work.

So far things are going as planned and the bags should be installed Sunday.

No way. I'm going to spend all day sunday putting it in and probably a good deal of time Saturday hooking up my valves and planning how i'm going to run my air lines. I'm most likely going to run them inside the frame. But i g2g cause i'm at work and we're leaving.

yea deff get your air manegment set up before you run your lines and bags. setting up your manegment is probly the most time consuming part of bagging the front.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yeah i decided to run the valves and everything off the tank (1 port for now)
It'll be easier than running all the line and bolting everything to the frame. This way it's all on the tank and up higher away from the ground so it's safer than being inside the frame rails.

But....................... My compressor (viair 400) and my 80 amp relay came in this afternoon

I will be at work all day tommorow and won't have time to pick up the fittings and they aren't open on weekends so i'm giving my mom some $$ and a shopping list of fittings and have her pick them up for me. Once that's done i just have to pick up a roll of teflon tape, some bolts, and some wires then i'm set.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

It's a little better but teflon tape works just fine when used properly. I've used it on my home compressor and air tools aswell as the air compressor and tools at the shop and it stops leaks really well.

Edit: My mom & dad are picking up the stuff (Fittings and switch) for me while i'm still at work and the guy at the store couldn't find the right one because he doesn't know what voltage i need (12 volts....) so now i have to wait until next week because they're closed on weekends and i don't get off work until Tuesday >_<
My friend Nick has his compressor hooked to a switch because his used to leake and drain the battery but hopefully he has his old pressure switch laying around that i can buy otherwise i'll have to plug off one end of my valve setup and run a switch to the compressor then Tuesday go back under there and change to a pressure switch. Problems like this really piss me off....

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I'm going to have to run a manual on/off switch (NOt my original plan) to my compressor. I'm fixing to go pick up wiring and a couple more fittings at the auto parts store then i will be putting everything in at 7am Sunday on my off day (Yay)

Here's test fit pics of the setup. Nothing is tightened and i didn't put teflon tape yet. I just hooked up everything to get an idea of how i'm going to set everything up.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

No.....no way i'm waiting. I'm running a manual on/off without a gauge because i don't have one. I'll just have to be extremely carefully with tank pressure until Tuesday when i can swap it out for the pressure switch.
I was going to run a 1/2 line off my tank to a 1/2 line coming out form under my seat and connecting to a 1/4 gauge but i couldn't find fittings at lowes or advance. I think one had part of the stuff but not all and vice versa. But **** it...i'm going ahead with my plans and i'm sure one of my friends has some extra bag stuff that i can buy for cheap.

Thought I read somewhere that the fittings at lowes or home depot weren't adequate for bagging? That they can't hold as much pressure or something?

yea but thats a difference between holding 600psi as apposed to 800 to 1000psi burst pressures.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Nick has some fittings from lowes or home depot on his sonoma with no trouble and he runs 200psi i think. I'm only running 150psi. The only fittings i would be using from them would be to maybe run a airline into the cab for a pressure gauge. I basically need to find:

(1) 1/2" x 1/2" hex nipple
(1) 1/2" x 1/2" barb fitting (Male)
(1) 1/2" x 1/2" barb fitting (Female)

I have a 1/2" to 1/4" reducer that i can put on the female barb fitting and be able to screw the 1/4" pressure gauge onto it. I just can't find all the stuff. It didn't help that when me and my mom got to lowes (I drove there while we were at the parts store) we only had about 30 minutes to find the fittings out of the hundreds that they carry.

Plus it's somewhat difficult when your looking for parts to bag a truck and the only people there that can help only know about home improvement..

Ok,quick question. What bolts do i need to bolt the bags into the cups? I forgot all about them but i know they have two bolts that hold them to each cup....right? Other than that and the fittings i think i have everything.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

**** setting up the tank...
I've been twice to the store for fittings and i always **** up on one part. I now need a 3/8" to 1/4" female adapter then i'm finished. I also got 3 bolts for my bags but i need 3 more but the store doesn't have more than 3 so i have to look someplace else. I guess it's back to lowes for an adapter and 3 bolts...****

I will still have it installed tommorow though...just i will be even more happy when it's finished because it's pissing me off.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got the adapter i need so my fittings are finished. I have everything setup but before i tape it i have to test it. Right now i'm TRYING to run my electrical wires and connect a bag just so i can make sure everything will kick on and air up the bags before i put them in and cut the pocket and stuff.

It's raining right now though and my truck is halfway under the carport with a tarp covering the back. Once it quits raining i'll finish wiring everything and test it out. No pics right now because i left my camera last night at my girlfriend's house.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got my wiring almost finished. It took me forever to find the wire i needed to splice into but i found it. Now my switch for the compressor is ready once i find a way to get the 12v wire through my firewall and behind the dash. I'm thinking drill a tiny 16 gauge hole and then run the wire through and put an end on it and put some kind of black caulk around the wire to keep anything from getting in around it like water or dirt.

I've got pics but i have to upload them and resize first. It's raining again so i put the tarp back over the rear of the truck and i'm waiting until it stops then i'll finish the wiring and start on the bags. I'll post pics in a few minutes once i resize them.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Still not finished and i won't be until Tuesday afternoon probably because i work tommorow. I am off Tuesday though and i'll do some more to it after work tommorow and then start at 9am Tuesday until i finish.

And i know some of you will rag on it but just for the record i'm not even close to being done. I have to disconnect my wires and re-run them through the frame then i will be done wiring. I have to finish bolting on the compressor and then putting in my bags, run the lines, and hook up my switchbox.

P.s. I have no idea what 12v wire i tapped into but my truck shouldn't have a problem cranking. I haven't cranked it yet since putting on the compressor and stuff. I'll probably try to crank it after i get my wires re-run and my compressor bolted up. Not bad for a first time bag job huh?

you need to put a fuse on the wire going to your relay off your battery. don't want to burn your truck down.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I plan on adding fuses to all of the connections (Not ground obviously)
I've got to take the wiring back loose and re-run it through the frame then it's all done as far as wiring (Except for adding the fuses)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Added in the fuse to the battery to relay wire. I also drill a 1/4" hole in the firewall on the passenger side and ran my wires in and tucked them away so everything is clean. My dash is back together and my switch works and my compressor kicks on like it should and so far everything else works out.

I'm fixing to wire up my switchbox and make sure it's going to work then i'll cut my spring pockets and mount the bags inplace then if i have enough airline left i'm running the pressure gauge from the tank to the inside of my cab. If not i'll have to get more airline from my friend. Once the bags are in and everything it put back together and working 100% proper i'll grab some 3" blocks and lower the rear static until i an bag the back.

Pics when i'm done working..

And........switchbox wiring is success =)

I can't get the nuts holding my balljoints loose so i may have to call my friend over to get them off because they're trying to round off no matter what i do. I figured it would be the hardest part though....

Edit: The bag is hooked up in that pic because i wanted to see if it was actually inflating. It's unhooked now and back inside..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

there is a flat part on the side of the spindle right next to the ball joints, try hitting that a few times. and what size hammer are you using, cuz i was trying a ballpeen and that wasnt working for my last one and i got a 3lb hammer, worked like a charm.

Hes not to that step yet. He can't get the nut off the ball joint.

I would think you are just using the wrong size socket. Mine had 236k on them when I put my lowering spindles on and with the right size socket, the nut came right off. Just get the right size socket then do what nuvurmind said to get them loose.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I'm not using a hammer or anything to get them off. I just use a wrench and a piece of pipe for leverage otherwise i can't turn it because they're so tight. I'm fixing to go back outside and work on it now that it's daylight and i can actually see so hopefully i will be able to get the driverside put in.

Once i get one side done and i see what all has to be done i'll be able to get the passenger side done with no problem. Once the bags are in i'll be done with bagging except for running that airline into the truck for the pressure gauge.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got the wrenches i need and disconnected the ball joints. ****ing swaybar ends were so rusted i couldn't get them loose so i just grinded the nut off and removed it. I've got to do the other side then unbolt the swaybar from the frame then it's done.

I'll probably end up putting on a brand new swaybar when i get the $ but i might just keep it like this so i can add 2 more valves and hit sides. I don't know yet. It all depends on how shitty it handles turns and stuff because i'm very picky about how my truck handles and i don't want to drive it if i have to worry about turns.

Next order of business if to remove that bumpstop, enlarge the spring pocket, and install the bag =)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

......Stupid ****up #1

I didn't think that once i bolted in the bag i wouldn't have room to get my fingrs in to run the airline to it.... i've got to disconnect to balljoints real fast and run the airline then tighten them back up. Not too bad but still about 15 minutes that i didn't need to spend...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Roughly 150psi

Layed as far as it will go

I've got to run my airline for my pressure gauge into the cab,run the line for the compressor fitler into the cab,put on some wire loom, tighten some stuff down more, then i think i'm good. I've got to get some 3" blocks on and get my bed back on for a local show at steak and shake saturday evening after work.

I'm thoroughly pleased with my front bags though =)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks =)

I'm stoked to have it done. I've ridden in my friend Nick's truck before but it's way better when it's your own. Plus he wouldn't let me mess with his switchbox =P

It's sputtering a little when idling now but i haven't really ran it for 3 days and i've been running the compressor a little with it off so it could be low battery or it could just be from it sitting. Normally after not driving it for a day or two it would run rough then it would do fine. I'll see tommorow though. I'm going to be bolting on my trailer ball and going dragging if i have time. I'll post some video and pics.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Just walked outside to see if i could attach some temporary tail lights so i could drive to work and my truck was layed out. I could have sworn i had some air in the bags when i came inside. The tank read like 40-60psi too but it wouldn't raise then when i kicked the compressor on it raised after about 15 seconds. I don't hear a leak but wtf? Also it's not something that bothers me but i do notice the right lifts a little before the left. But it might be my body weight on the driver side.

Looks like my mom will have to drive meto work tommorow too until i get home and get my tail lights on and my tag on... Sucks because i wanted to drive tommorow to work and lay it out when i got there. Oh well...
