Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got my clear corners and bumper lights. I've got to get my truck in running order then i'm leaving out around 5am headed for Biloxi. I think i have one or more valves that are burnt up because i seem to be losing oil after a while and i think that's causing the sputtering because after checking and topping off my oil it seemed to stop. I'm fixing to check all mechanical stuff on my truck and clean it good then pack.

Hope to see everybody there.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

My corners are in but my left turn signal doesn't work (****) for some reason and i can't figure out why. I got the right turn signal working but i have a clear bulb for now since i didn't have amber bulbs laying around. But it's better than no lenses or lights at all right?

The photos suck because it was dark but here's photos of the lenses in. I have to get 2 more nuts to hold them in but they're good right now with 1 nut per lense.

I just want to commend you for the progress thus far, and for keeping a positive attitude in light of the people being negative here and there in this thread.

The important thing is that YOU are happy with the truck, and you are apparently doing great work to make it even better. Props for seeing the potential in the truck, being able to look past the obvious and see what it could be given some TLC.

Ignore the haters.

Thanks. And i'm not sure. I never pulled it off but i do know that i will have to bend some things straight when installing the new front bumper. It'll be a few weeks though but i am installing my rollpan this coming week.

Thanks. I try to ignore negative comments about my truck but it's kinda hard. I always try to look at what vehicles CAN be,not what they ARE. For proof look at my blazer when i bought it

I'll post more pics up when i get my rollpan put on this week.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got my rollpan in today while i was at work. I sprayed a little temporary primer (Spray bomb) on so i can install it until i get ready to have my truck sanded and painted. I ran out and i'm waiting on another can then i'll finish spraying.

I also got ym $261 income tax so i'm loading it onto my visa debit card and ordering a front bag kit and maybe a tank if i have enough left. I'm also going to try and order my front bumper this week out of my paycheck.

It's a shame i couldn't have gotten all of this a month ago then it wouldn't have looked as bad when i drove to scrapin the coast but oh well. I can only do what i can afford at the time

I'll post pics once i have it bolted on (Yes i'm bolting it on...until i get my hands on a welder and weld the seams of course)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got the bumper off

Had to grind through the damn bracket because of a stuck bolt (Last one too)

It's held in place with a clamp and a couple sheetmetal screws right now so it won't fall until i run and get some bolts real quick.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yup

I finished putting in the bolts and put my tag on. I've still got to get in some little crevices where i didn't get primer but it's good for now. My tailgate hits in the middle but it opens. It looks like the tailgate it bowed outward though (Wtf?!)

I'm ordering the suicide doors special for my front tommorow. It'll be bags, line, fittings, hose ect. Basically everything minus a compressor, tank, and switch box. Then when it comes in i will be getting my compressor and everything then bagging the front

Oh,and i'm ordering the front bumper this Thursday since my debit card didn't work last time. So basically within 2 weeks or a month tops the front of my truck will be bagged (Not laying out but bagged) it will have a new chrome bumper on it,new clear bumper lights, newish valance, and possibly the new bowtie emblem.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Nope. Bumper lights and corners came from 2 sellers on ebay. I didn't know fbi sold them so i ordered those off ebay and bought the rollpan straight from fbi.

*Suicide doors front special (Ordering in about an hour)
*Front bumper
*Replace valance

Next week i'll order the tank since suicide doors is out of the tank i want and the next week i'll probably order the compressor.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Just ordered:

https://www.suicidedoors.com/S10FrontSpecial.php
And....

https://www.suicidedoors.com/Blue10-SwitchBox.php

I wanted a clear box but they're out of them and i didn't feel like waiting so i went ahead and got blue (Most subtle looking color box they had)

I'll order my tank Thursday when i cash my check (Hopefully suicide doors has them by then) and buy my valance from the u-pull it on Sunday when i'm off.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

If i figured correctly the remaining parts needed to bag the front are

2 1/2" fill valves
2 1/2" dump valves
2 1/2" tee fittings
Viair 325 compressor
8 gallon/8 port tank
110/145psi pressure switch

For a total of $469.20 including shipping. Looks like i'll be buying it one piece at a time.

Just curious though, can't i run 3/8" valves with 1/2" line?

Daylight pic

I need to get some glue remover so i can remove the remaining trim on the side of the truck later. I could remove the trim now but then it would leave a shitload of the glue on it and i don't have anything to dissolve the glue right now.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I've seen that before but i don't have any right now. I would buy some but i don't really feel like going in walmart right now to buy it. I'll pick some up soon though because i hate the trim only being in certain parts of the truck. It just looks plain wierd...

Btw how hard on paint is goo gone? I'm getting it painted but i still dont' want to drive around with ****ed up paint until i do because of the goo gone messing up the paint.

ive used it plenty of times. it doenst really hurt the paint. if you still feel iffy about it go slow and dont use alot.

and yea the trim on there makes it look like the door is caved in.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

The old passenger door was caved in like crazy. Looked like somebody took a sledgehammer to it. They also got the rocker panel too but you can't really tell it with the new door on unless you bend down and look at it. I've got to get a new rocker panel and weld it on after cutting the mangled up one off.

I've had my truck parked in front of my house all day and i was working on my blazer and looked over my shoulder to find my neighbor stopped to check it out while getting his mail

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I think so too. Paint is a long, long ways off though. I've got a lot of other things planned before putting out the $ on a paintjob. I'm going to get it bagged and layed out and restore the interior first along with other things. Paint is almost last on my list of things to do. I do plan though to have paint on it by next years scrapin' the coast though.

My plans next year are to drive my finished truck there and tow my 50% or hopefully 100% complete blazer behind it.

I might not be able to order the bumper this week after all. I got one of my bills in this week so it may be next week but i'll be posting updates when i order parts and when i install them so nobody will be in the dark as to when something new is going to happen.

You might want to think about a license plate light before you get ticketed repeatedly.

I like the overspray on the porch rails too.

I kinda wondered when someone would mention either one of those.

I never had working tag lights anyways and have never gotten tickets or even second glances so i'm not really worried about it. *Knock on wood*
